(CNN) - A labor union representing nearly 20,000 border patrol agents and staff Friday disputed comments made by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer that most illegal immigrants coming across the southern border are smuggling drugs.

Brewer initially made the comments earlier this month during a debate of Republican gubernatorial candidates. She repeated them Friday when asked by a reporter for the basis of the claim.

"Well, we all know that the majority of the people that are coming to Arizona and trespassing are now becoming drug mules," Brewer said. "They're coming across our borders in huge numbers. The drug cartels have taken control of the immigration.

Repubs will say anything, no matter how utterly false or ridiculous, because fox and hate radio tell them it's true. Everyone knows that 99% of the people crossing are coming for our low wage jobs that are offered to them.
Repubs they keep assuming that more than 27% of Americans are stupid. More than 70% are not the American Idiot they prey on with their fear and loathing.
We are not afraid – we are Americans.

Typical politician-she knows nothing & the troops on the front line tell her so. They are not....in fact...."coming across our borders in huge numbers", and she KNOWS this. Border crossings by illegals fell off sharply after the BUSH-INDUCED DEPRESSION took hold of the economy in the fall of 2008.
So Arizona passed a law....and the illegals are just packing up & moving to another state. Not as simple a problem to solve as you wanted everyone to believe, is it? Hey, as long as their no longer in YOUR STATE, that's all that matters, huh?

What hypocarisy!! She spits hatred and venom from one side of her face and on the other one, she and the AZ Republican legislature, tout the virtues of the NRA and pass any gun law they want and we all know that American made guns go across our borders non-stop to these drug cartels. She and her legislature make hay out of a rancher in Southern AZ being shot by illegal crossers and a law officer gunned down during a routine traffic stop, but makes no mention of the laws she signed that allows people in AZ to own guns without a background check or permit. Incredible hypocrisy!

    Brewer is right...........

The cartels are now in full control of everything in Mexico-as well as the border.

And, not only do they charge the illegals thousands of dollars to bring them to the US-–they also FORCE them to carry drugs into the US for them as well.

And, the spokesman for the Border Patrol Agents is just as clueless as Obama, Napolitano, Holder, and the majority of Democrats regarding illegals--as well as they do not want citizens to know what is 'really' going on.

  6. Matt: Honestly

Any time you start referring to people as animals it is extremely dangerous. In Rawanda people were called cockroaches. The Nazi's called Jews rats, etc. Dehumanizing people is the easiest way to get a population to treat people as less than human, and violate their rights.

Oh, I did not realize that it was TJ Bonner that was quoted regarding this.

TJ Bonner IS very informed/knowledgeable regarding all border issues.

Brewer is right that the cartels have now taken over EVERYTHING in Mexico--and the borders as well.

There is DEFINITELY an increase in drugs being carried into the US by illegals--because the cartels are FORCING them to do so through threats--whether the illegals want to do it or not.

Does she have any verifiable proof to back this up? Or does she just "know" this instinctively, like too many people in this country "know" their made up "facts."

A while back, I came across a news report. It was from this border town where all the locals were complaing about the many crimes being done by the illegal immigrants. Instead of taking the heresay of the locas as fact, the reporters did some research and went through the actual arrest records and convinctions – comparing number of crimes commited by illegal immigrants to those done by Americans. They found that even though illegal immigrants made up over 20% population, they commited less than 10% of the crimes. The great irony was that "illegals", once they came to this country, were more law abiding than the actual citizens.

The reporters found what was happening was anytime there was a crime, the locals immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was done by illegal immigrants. So, while Mexicans were actually behind only a fraction of the crimes, they were getting all of the blame.

The reporters even interviewed an illegal immigrant who said most of his people try to avoid trouble and keep a low profile. They know the fastest way to draw attention to themselves is to start commiting crimes and in turn risk deporatation. In fact, the illegal immigrants were often the target of attacks by the locals. These were hardly ever reported because the Mexicans are afraid of involving themselves with the authorities. So the truth of the matter is that illegal immigrants were much more likely to be victims of crimes by the locals than the reverse.

Not all illegal immigrants are drug mules. They just want to come here to have a better life, I've met illegal immigrants, most of them are nice; russians, germany, and latinos.

Then legalize it and your immigration problems become much less. And we stop paying for all the extra costs associated with it and free up our jails and cost associated with that. You can tax the purchase of it. Pretty straight forward Jan.

  14. Brewer reminds me of Hitler

Illegal immigration and drug cartel violence are two separate issues. Arizona politicians are using scare tactics and rhetoric to gain support for their useless divisive laws. A lot of talk without actual facts. I'm sure it doesnt take much to convince those who dont know. All this people are doing is creating a hateful and dangerous atmosphere between the people and our border.

Being a mule is how the illegals can afford the cost of the trip. If anyone doubts that then explain where their money comes for the trip across the border. It's naive to think otherwise. We need more Governor's like Brewer. In my own State of Arkansas we're collecting signatures on a petition for a similar law to be placed on our Nov. ballot. Give the choice to the citizens and you can bet they will vote for a similar law as AZ.

Something has taken control of Gov. Brewer's mind and it's not sanity. It is one thing to pander to your constituents, but it is entirely another thing to make up facts. Like a lot of political double speak, it is useless for citizens to believe anything they say. Has the GObP finally admitting they never tell the truth? Palin – death panels; Bachman – hitler, socialism claims, Perry – states rights, right to leave the union; Barton – BP appology; King, Price, Wilson, DeMint, – need I go on? Gulf State Govs. rail against the federal government, but yet, they don't call up the national guard to help contain the oil spill on the beaches. Give me a TV – that'll get me the votes, no matter my personal actions.

If our government would just enforce the laws we have on the books now we wouldn't need any state laws for the same thing.

I'm sorry because I know this is very tacky of me, however, Gov. Brewer looks like someone on Fox's show "Cops" that the police have drug out of some trailer park for prostitution. And when she speaks you can hear all of those years of smoking.
Not to mention her claim that most "illegal immigrants are drug mules" is completely stupid.

It should not take a rocket scientist to figure out what Brewer is doing. First start her crazy law, then stop ethnic studies in high school, then declare all illegals as drug runners. And we are to believe that this has nothing to do with the ethnicity of people!!

The only ones who believe this wingnut are those who are either hateful or redneck, white, blind followers of the fear mongering right wing. We ran the native American off their land, we locked the Japanese Americans in concentration camps, we went after the "communists" in the 50s. We declare war on Islam. We do not learn from our mistakes. We are such impulsive people who are so prone to believe this nonsense. And we blame the Germans for blindly following Hitler to kill the jews? We need to recognize Republicans for what they truly are: hateful uneducated clowns.

People including Obama need to listen to this woman she has more common sense in her little finger than Obama does in his whole body. Of course we all know Obama only wants the votes from the illegals he could care less about what the illegals are doing to the citizens of this country.

It's irresponsible politicians like this that fuel hate crimes. This woman is another moron elected into office. Immigration laws are a problem. They should have been confronted DECADES AGO, but as usual the politicians sat on their fat behinds and did nothing except pocket lobbyist money. Now the idiots are making statements that are going to fuel fires and cause the deaths of innocent people. I say throw the bag of garbage to the drug cartel and she how she likes it.

National Border Patrol Council, which represents nearly 20,000 border patrol agents and workers, says Brewer's comments are lies.

Who are you going to believe? An opportunistic politician trying to score political points, or the law enforcement officers who are actually doing the work?

That has got to be one of the stupidest comments from a politician I've ever read. And with Sarah in the press daily, that's saying something. Add to that the look of anger common to most social conservatives...

This woman really needs to go back on lithium.
