Arizona Gov. to Obama: Do your job!

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

(CNN) - The same day President Obama is delivering a high profile speech on immigration, a web video is making the rounds featuring a frustrated Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer imploring the president to "do your job" when it comes to securing the borders.

In the web video posted earlier this week, Brewer stands in front of recently erected signs 80 miles from Arizona's Mexican border that warn travelers "smuggling and illegal immigration may be encountered in this area."

"Two weeks ago I met with President Obama, he promised that we would get word from his administration on what they were going to do to secure the border. Well, we finally got the message, these signs," Brewer says. "I'm 80 miles away from the border and only 30 miles away from Arizona's capital. This is an outrage."

"Washington says our border is as safe as it's ever been…Does this look safe to you? Washington is broken, Mr. President," a visibly angry Brewer continues. "Do your job. Secure our borders."

The newly-erected signs are the product of the Bureau of Land Management, according to local TV station KPHO, amid urging from local residents who have witnessed a wave of drug-related crimes.

Brewer's comments come more than a week after a senior Obama administration official confirmed justice department lawyers are planning to file a legal challenge to the controversial Arizona immigration law championed by Brewer.

Federal government lawyers who have been working on the expected challenge for several weeks will most likely file their arguments in federal court in Phoenix in the days leading up to July 28, when the statute is scheduled to take effect, the official said.

Administration officials have indicated the question of Arizona usurping federal authority to control the border and enforce immigration law is the most likely federal point of attack against the state law signed by Gov. Jan Brewer earlier this year.

In his immigration speech Thursday, Obama again took aim at the controversial Arizona measure, calling it "ill conceived."

"It is not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive, though it has fanned the flames of an already contentious debate, laws like Arizona's put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable. It puts pressure on already hard-strapped state and local budgets," Obama said.

The president also defended his efforts to secure the border both with Mexico and Canada.

"We doubled the personnel assigned to border enforcement security task forces," he said. "We tripled the number of intelligence analysts along the border. For the first time we have begun screening 100 percent of southbound rail shipments. And as a result, we're seizing more illegal guns, cash, and drugs than in years past."

"The bottom line is this, the southern border is more secure today than at anytime in the past 20 years," Obama added.

Governor Brewer is just another Republican hack looking for ways to criticize President Obama, treating her constituents like a bunch of unthinking idiots who'll believe anything she and the GOP disinformation machine throws at them.

Where was all her concern during the Bush years over border security? And what is President Obama supposed to do – tell her and the public the details of all the security measures so folks who are doing the smuggling can circumvent them?

    Grow up, lady!

Luckily, "his job" does not include racism, as this Governor's policies all seem to do.

He'd rather try to score political points than do anything constructive. As is the case with the oil spill, he's spending alot of effort telling us that he's spending alot of effort, without spending much, if any, effort on actual action.

Do your job, Jan! Produce a budget that doesn't eviscerate education and healthcare in your state (if you can). Or maybe you can help with the Arpaio / Thomas fiasco going on currently.

But I suppose taking cheap shots at the President is one way to deflect the public from your obvious incompetence.

If Brewer wants to do something meaningful about illegal immigration, she should come down hard on all the Arizonians (companies and individuals) who've been hiring all the illegal immigrants.

They wouldn't come if there weren't any jobs! They wouldn't come if Arizonians weren't willing to break the law for the sake of cheap labor, with the result of laying off US citizens!

No acting Governor Brewer YOU DO YOUR JOB FOR ALL OF THE PEOPLE OF ARIZONA. Don't sit there and turn a huge BLIND eye at where your PRIMARY focus should be: those companies that give you HUGE campaign contributions whilst employing the illegals sans repercussions. Stop persecuting regular citizens that represent "chump change" contributors and start going after the BIG GUYS: the wealthy and corporations that have illegals coming out of their ying-yang in order to support their lavish lifestyles and up their profit margin.

The President is doing the job of too many in Washington already refuse to earn the paycheck that we pay them as Congressmen and Senators.

So do YOUR JOB.....and don't forget to MOISTURIZE you're scaring the children!

Ms. Brewer is a lying fear mongerer. She's now claiming that beheaded bodies are being found, problem is, the law enforcement agencies are denying such reports. She's lying to create fear. Pathetic.

Obama's answer to the increasing violence on the border is to post signs telling American's to stay away from a drug and human trafficing route.

    Obama's is a failed presidency.

Where were you Governor when your own Senator McCain and Bush tried to push Amnesty down our throats a couple years ago? What did the Republicans do when they ran the White House? Nothing ... I didn't get the right-wing Faux News memo that all of sudden when Obama took office that we had a situation at the border.

Ok Gov. Why don't you call on your Republican Law makers in Washington to join the President in finding a lasting solution to the immigration problem? They are the ones who don't want to move on this important matter for political reasons. They would rather win an election than solve the problems facing this country.

That will do it, put intelligence people on the job. They still can't figure out where Bin Laden is, what makes them think they can control the border...what a waste of time, resources and money. Lets bring some Israelis over to control the border, they know how to do it.

Did you tell Bush to do his job? No, you and McCain just sat on your hands and let it roll along. Governor you are a hypocrite. You both need to be voted out. Now al of a sudden it is Obama's fault. Do your job and bring ideas for real immigration reform.

Perhaps she should tell the GOP, her own party to stop just saying no and work on the problem. It seems like the president and the democrats want to try to fix the problem while the GOP protecting the big business interests of cheap labor won't allow the process to proceed. She can't have it both ways, blame the president while the GOP blocks any fix. Let's get real.

Vote NO in NOvember to the party of NO.

In other words, he has no intention of doing anything about this problem anytime soon. This is true to the pattern. Think about The Defecit, Unemployment, The Oil disaster in the gulf. Until people ( i.e., voters ) scream for weeks about something that is not on his liberal agenda, he will not act. He is not at all about actually running the federal government. He is only about implementing a liberal agenda to redistribute our country's wealth. We really need someone in that position now to actually manage the government and manage our tax dollars. That's the only way this economy will recover. But not on his watch.

Every Democrat in America wants illegal drug smuglers to be free to conduct their business while getting free healthcare and welfare off the backs of hard working Americans.

At the same time these Democrats want to round up their conservative neighbors, take away their property, wealth, guns, and rights, and lock them up in re-eduction camps just like another National Socialist Dictator did in Germany in the 1930s.

Just read their posts here at the ticker, you are supporting these kind of hate-filled, dishonest libs everytime you vote Democrat.

I took a poll...no one cares if Brewer is happy or not.

It's interesting that this whole Arizona immigration issue didn't splash the headlines until the Republicans began their active attacks on President Obama's reform policies....health care reform, financial reform.......

Republicans are too stupid to realize that we know the political game they're playing.

Typical Washingon solution to a regional problem– post a sign, make a speech, but ultimately take no action that will "offend anyone".

Politicians are a vestigal part of our society.
