Arizona Gov. to Obama: Do your job!

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

(CNN) – The same day President Obama is delivering a high profile speech on immigration, a web video is making the rounds featuring a frustrated Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer imploring the president to "do your job" when it comes to securing the borders.

In the web video posted earlier this week, Brewer stands in front of recently erected signs 80 miles from Arizona's Mexican border that warn travelers "smuggling and illegal immigration may be encountered in this area."

"Two weeks ago I met with President Obama, he promised that we would get word from his administration on what they were going to do to secure the border. Well, we finally got the message, these signs," Brewer says. "I'm 80 miles away from the border and only 30 miles away from Arizona's capital. This is an outrage."

"Washington says our border is as safe as it's ever been…Does this look safe to you? Washington is broken, Mr. President," a visibly angry Brewer continues. "Do your job. Secure our borders."

The newly-erected signs are the product of the Bureau of Land Management, according to local TV station KPHO, amid urging from local residents who have witnessed a wave of drug-related crimes.

Brewer's comments come more than a week after a senior Obama administration official confirmed justice department lawyers are planning to file a legal challenge to the controversial Arizona immigration law championed by Brewer.

Federal government lawyers who have been working on the expected challenge for several weeks will most likely file their arguments in federal court in Phoenix in the days leading up to July 28, when the statute is scheduled to take effect, the official said.

Administration officials have indicated the question of Arizona usurping federal authority to control the border and enforce immigration law is the most likely federal point of attack against the state law signed by Gov. Jan Brewer earlier this year.

In his immigration speech Thursday, Obama again took aim at the controversial Arizona measure, calling it "ill conceived."

"It is not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive, though it has fanned the flames of an already contentious debate, laws like Arizona's put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable. It puts pressure on already hard-strapped state and local budgets," Obama said.

The president also defended his efforts to secure the border both with Mexico and Canada.

"We doubled the personnel assigned to border enforcement security task forces," he said. "We tripled the number of intelligence analysts along the border. For the first time we have begun screening 100 percent of southbound rail shipments. And as a result, we're seizing more illegal guns, cash, and drugs than in years past."

"The bottom line is this, the southern border is more secure today than at anytime in the past 20 years," Obama added.

Impeach Obama for gross incompetence and dereliction of duty! There MUST be a law somewhere that he has violated sufficiently to justify impeachment. Perhaps treason for betraying his oath of office? After all, he has deliberately failed to perform his constitutional duties to enforce our border security laws. America has had enough of the political games. America has had enough of this pandering to the illegal aliens of all people. America has had enough of a federal government that is more concerned about keeping their cushy jobs on the cocktail party circuit than actually serving the American people that elected them. Fire congress in November, and impeach King Obama!

Also, in addition to my other post, why are we so concerned about scanning southbound rail shipments, the illegals are not leaving, scan the rail shipments coming north. Obama isn't a politician, he's a CEO..

Who does this woman think she is? Obama is not only doing this job, but the JOBS that were left behind from the republicans from the past 8 years. There is not a person in their right mind that can say President Obama has let grass grow under his feet. He has or attempted to deal with every crisis that has been thrown his way. I am sure she is getting her marching orders from her pycho republican buddies who are to cowardly to say stuff themselves. It amazes me how immigration has been an issue for years now, even the day Obama was sworn it was an issue yet the republicans were not yelling and screaming about immigration then. I am sick and tired of the political games and cheap shots aimed at President Obama while the republicans sit back and do nothing, but criticize. They are all mouth and no action, always have been and probably always will be!

Thank You Govenor Brewer! That's the hope and change we like. Finally someone standing up to this administration. Obama took an oath "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." We are a country of laws, and anyone who defends an ILLEGAL alien is breaking the law by aiding and abetting. OBAMA quote on immigration and AZ law "the law makes it impossible for an undocumented (ILLEGAL) resident (what!) to report a crime...." Ah yea, they are a crime! IT'S THE LAW PEOPLE!

Lets face it-Obama needs the votes for this november votes. He has to appeal to the mexicans especialy in the western states because these are the people want to have the Governmnet give them everything includeing amnesty and majorily voted for him .This isint about securing our boarders and makeing the country safer, this is about politics and getting the voters they desperately need (Democrate) because they are going to get hurt badly because most of America has had it with the way government is running and its Failed Leadership. When the Federal Government cant enforce its own Laws then you know its a Total joke ! Meanwhile the Debt grows with every giveaway .Maybe obama will give fannie and Freddie another 350 billion because they are doing such a great job for america ?

The unemployment extention will pass before the end of July.

Before christmas time or should i say winter holiday is that obama will have another stimulus because the economy will be going downhill and the market will be way down .He needs to another stimulus to at least make it until the election in 2012 and another stimulus should float him there to that timeline.

By next year at this time ,Obama will have an attack on Iran .

More political grandstanding from conservatives. Am I to believe that the border was more secure under Bush with less resources? Of course not; but now that a Democrat is in office it is time to start crying about it. If you want to stem the flow of illegals then pass a law that jails employers of undocumented workers. You'll never see the spineless conservatives back such a measure.

It's a shame Native Americans couldn't use Arizona's policy when they saw whites illegally entering their territory.

Maybe if the US worked on curbing its insatiable appetite for drugs...the "good" governor would see fewer "mules" coming over to sell drugs. Simple economics Governor...it's called supply and demand.

Also, the US has never let something like a border keep it from setting up shop in other countries unwanted and selling things to those citizens they don't need (ala McDonald's, Starbucks, guns, etc. Why shouldn't it go both ways?

The southern border of Arizona is a sieve. What control? The people of Arizona have every right to protect their border since the federal government thinks everything is just hunky dory! Why don't they show the miles of trash littering the once beautiful desert? This has to stop!

We have to stop the flow of illegals into our country. They are ruining our economy by displacing legal citizens jobs, seats in colleges, bankrupting our health care system and not paying taxes, bringing drug cartels into our major cities, while the rest of us support them. Obama , or whoever is President need to enforce our laws and no Amnesty ...

All you people who say Bush did nothing don't recall that Dems have controlled Congress for years. THEY determine whether legislation is presented, passes, or fails. Take a civics lesson for Pete's sake. And for those who think there are no issues from illegal immigration on the border states and that Brewer is grandstanding, hey, move on down here. See how it has affected medical care. See how it has affected criminal justice. See how it has affected personal safety. Some of the posters on here are absolutely ignorant.

America to Arizona governor: Read the Constitution...then get someone, preferrably not from the Texas School Board, to explain the parts you apparently don't understand. You might want to clear your calander. This might take awhile.

I hope that Jan Brewer is serious, and not just grandstanding. We do need to have a sovereign nation with actual borders that mean something.

What Gov. Jan Brewer should be doing is lead instead of whine. We have a congress that refuses to work together. Instead of solving the problems of this great country, they play politics. Arizona has two US Senators (John McCain, Jon Kyl) and seven US Congressmen (Ann Kirkpatrick, Trent Franks, John Shadegg, Edward Pastor, Harry Mitchell, Jeff Flake, Raul Grijalva, Gabrielle Giffords). Brewer should be working with these individuals, and those of the other border states, to come up with a bi-partisan plan that addresses the problems. Instead she chooses to sign into law a pro-profiling statute, which she must know will be found unconstitutional.

Stop playing politics and find solutions.

Sooner or later there will be amnesty and millions more will then be legal .Then more years down the road when there are another 8 million illegals, there will be another amnesty bill .By that time the superhighway will go through the middle states and to canda and we will have what they wanted to start with .The North American Union .
You do this little by little over time and then you can finish the plan .
    welcome to the NWO !

As rick said, its not about security , its about an agenda and what better way to bring a nation down that to cause from withen .That is how the Fall of a once great Nation turns into a third world country without any manufacturing capabilities and its people Taxed to Death on allmost everything. That is the way it always ends !

Isn't this a states rights issue? Deploying troops to arrest illegal immigrants is itself illegal because you can't use the military to enforce domestic law. Sounds like Brewer is just lazy and looking for a federal bailout. Typical Republican.

Liberals are absolutely amazing. They EVEN support Obama when he doesn't do ANYTHING!! How in the world can you justify defending individuals who enter illegally?

Scenario: You come home from vacation and there is someone living in your house. Of course while he was there he cleaned the house, washed your dishes, and tells you he will work hard if you let him stay. Will you let him stay in your house? If you do then you are an idiot because HE ENTERED YOUR HOUSE ILLEGALLY!! How do you make this political? When someone is in your house you call the police and he is removed by force and charged with a crime. The difference in that scenario and illegal immigration? THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE YOU FOOLS!!

Let's get rid of those here illegally and THEN work on a way for those who will help our economy grow to come here legally. Liberals are just plain not responsible or intelligent individuals who cannot see the logic of above........
