Arizona Gov. to Obama: Do your job!

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

(CNN) – The same day President Obama is delivering a high profile speech on immigration, a web video is making the rounds featuring a frustrated Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer imploring the president to "do your job" when it comes to securing the borders.

In the web video posted earlier this week, Brewer stands in front of recently erected signs 80 miles from Arizona's Mexican border that warn travelers "smuggling and illegal immigration may be encountered in this area."

"Two weeks ago I met with President Obama, he promised that we would get word from his administration on what they were going to do to secure the border. Well, we finally got the message, these signs," Brewer says. "I'm 80 miles away from the border and only 30 miles away from Arizona's capital. This is an outrage."

"Washington says our border is as safe as it's ever been…Does this look safe to you? Washington is broken, Mr. President," a visibly angry Brewer continues. "Do your job. Secure our borders."

The newly-erected signs are the product of the Bureau of Land Management, according to local TV station KPHO, amid urging from local residents who have witnessed a wave of drug-related crimes.

Brewer's comments come more than a week after a senior Obama administration official confirmed justice department lawyers are planning to file a legal challenge to the controversial Arizona immigration law championed by Brewer.

Federal government lawyers who have been working on the expected challenge for several weeks will most likely file their arguments in federal court in Phoenix in the days leading up to July 28, when the statute is scheduled to take effect, the official said.

Administration officials have indicated the question of Arizona usurping federal authority to control the border and enforce immigration law is the most likely federal point of attack against the state law signed by Gov. Jan Brewer earlier this year.

In his immigration speech Thursday, Obama again took aim at the controversial Arizona measure, calling it "ill conceived."

"It is not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive, though it has fanned the flames of an already contentious debate, laws like Arizona's put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable. It puts pressure on already hard-strapped state and local budgets," Obama said.

The president also defended his efforts to secure the border both with Mexico and Canada.

"We doubled the personnel assigned to border enforcement security task forces," he said. "We tripled the number of intelligence analysts along the border. For the first time we have begun screening 100 percent of southbound rail shipments. And as a result, we're seizing more illegal guns, cash, and drugs than in years past."

"The bottom line is this, the southern border is more secure today than at anytime in the past 20 years," Obama added.

The scariest thing about this debate is that we have reached a tipping point. There are so many people in the USA who have no interest in protecting our borders and instead think anyone who wants to come here should just be allowed to walk accross the border that there is no way left to save the USA.

If you think that we should protect our American language, culture and heritage, you are branded a racist. But if you are have a foreign language, culture and heritage, you are commended if you aggressively demand that it be treated as equal or better. Say goodbye to the American language, culture and heritage. There are not enough people left who care enough about it or are not frightened off by being called a racist to save it.

The present governor of AZ is not qualified to determine immigration policies for the US. She is poorly educated and involved in the highly suspect real estate climate in AZ. She is just another Republican women who apparently thinks that one can rise in office without credentials if one screams a great deal.

Obama is just an idea guy, he's not a doer. So there is no job for him to do.

Quit your bickering, it's beneath the One to be questioned.

Obama said in his speach that it is time to let national laws work. NO its time for the United States to stand up for themselves and take back this country from people like Obama. We do not need national law we need United States laws.

"Two weeks ago I met with President Obama, he promised that we would get word from his administration on what they were going to do to secure the border."

You think maybe you'll get that answer in his speech today? Two weeks isn't long to wait when it comes to the government. Pretty darn efficient if you ask me.

I feel sorry for all the weak minded people Brewer is preying on. It's like she thinks Obama should be Houdini or something.

Some folks act as if all this suddenly appeared since our President was elected 18 months ago. What has been done under past administrations? What did cheney – err ah – bush do while he was president? He's from TX, a border state, who should have been very attune to the situation – yet did nothing that worked. But now the right/wrong wing want to say President Obama is responsible because he hasn't solved the illegal immigration problem. Brewer needs to do her own job with the other immediate needs of her state and STHU.

The whole Obama's presidency is a joke, although a bad one.
It is not only that Obama is not doing his job, but also that he is putting in jeorpardy the well being of millions of Americans by not protecting our borders.

Hey Jan and all you concerned citizens, the minutes men, the conservatives and the rest of you loud mouths, where was your destain about our borders years ago? Where were you during the Regan years? The Bush years? The (What the hell did we elect) Bush years? Now you want to blame Obama for the problem, now? Give us all a break from your phony facade..And Tea Party people, the tea bags you put on your hats, very unbecomong.. The tea party as Newt stated, its the militant arm of the republican party and your destain about our lack of action to protect our borders is fake.

Republicans would have you believe that no illegals ever entered this country until the day Obama became President. Republican business owners and private citizens have been recruiting and hiring cheap labor for years. Without legalized slavery, illegal poor people will have to do. Do people never stop lying and misleading in this country? End and prosecute illegal hiring and these people will go home. No money, no reason to be here. Simple.

    Ron, et al.

YOU are the joke! Now that a Democrat is in office, everyone starts complaining about border control. The current administration has done more than anyone in recent history to secure the border and plans to do more, in a responsible, comprehensive manner. Bush and his congress did NOTHING to improve this...where were your complaints then!?

Things are not so black and white (or right and left) as you would think. For example, I voted for McCain, but can also see the good this administration is doing for the American people. I also am not afraid to critique them when I see something that works against our best interest. Only mentally unstable people see things in such strict black and white terms.

Why is it that our eyes can't see all that Obama claims he is doing for our country???
Perhaps because you don't want to see. Or, how about if you acknowledge what President Obama has so far accomplished you might have to give him credit for beginning to clean up the mess left by George Bush and the Republicans. Couldn't be you would learn what he has done for average Americans, something the do nothing Republicans have not done and don't want you to know that Democrats are actually working for average Americans. Perhaps, you don't know how to use GOOGLE. Google President Obama's accomplishments and educate yourself.

YES!! Finally somebody tells Obozo to do what he was elected to do! This clown is nothing but a campaigning machine. He has ZERO leadership ability. His non-stop demonization of businesses, groups and opponents is ridiculous. His approach will DOOM this country for another two years, just like he has killed the private sector recovery.

2012 can't come soon enough. This November he'll be cut off at the knees when he loses both houses of Congress. This insanity has to be stopped.

Finally someone stands up to him. People blame the governor for the schools not having enough money. What do you expect to happen when you have such a high percentage of children going to these school and their parents do not pay one dime in taxes? where are they supposed to get the money to fund the schools maybe they should just raise taxs on you so you can pay it.

You are a bunch of idiots and the very reason America is going down the tubes. I would give anything to see your faces when the crime moves to your backyards!!

It is funny to see how many naives still believe any word that Obama says. This president talks and bla, bla all the time. However, he doesn't take a single step in the right direction. It doesn't matter if it is a domestic or foreign issue he just talk and talk and bla, bla people until they just can not hear his BS any longer.

Lady, go back to sleep. This isn't the United States of Arizona. If you really cared about immigration, then you would not have waited so long to make all this noise. How dare you cast a suspicious eye to anyone of a color other than white. We should deport you!

It is always said that we are UNABLE to secure the borders that is just not true. The problem is not ability the problem is will. We will not secure the border, ability has nothing to do with it. Not saying that this should happen, but if you put troops on the border and tell them to shoot anyone that crosses the border by running across It will stop Illegal immigration from that border. Those people would not make it into the USA alive. I don't think that is the way to go but we are able to do it.

BTW the last time we had a go at Immigration reform Regan passed legislation making Illegals into citizens and then dems refused to pass legislation securing the border. That is why we are in this mess.
