Arizona Gov. to Obama: Do your job!

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's not happy with the president's border response.

(CNN) – The same day President Obama is delivering a high profile speech on immigration, a web video is making the rounds featuring a frustrated Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer imploring the president to "do your job" when it comes to securing the borders.

In the web video posted earlier this week, Brewer stands in front of recently erected signs 80 miles from Arizona's Mexican border that warn travelers "smuggling and illegal immigration may be encountered in this area."

"Two weeks ago I met with President Obama, he promised that we would get word from his administration on what they were going to do to secure the border. Well, we finally got the message, these signs," Brewer says. "I'm 80 miles away from the border and only 30 miles away from Arizona's capital. This is an outrage."

"Washington says our border is as safe as it's ever been…Does this look safe to you? Washington is broken, Mr. President," a visibly angry Brewer continues. "Do your job. Secure our borders."

The newly-erected signs are the product of the Bureau of Land Management, according to local TV station KPHO, amid urging from local residents who have witnessed a wave of drug-related crimes.

Brewer's comments come more than a week after a senior Obama administration official confirmed justice department lawyers are planning to file a legal challenge to the controversial Arizona immigration law championed by Brewer.

Federal government lawyers who have been working on the expected challenge for several weeks will most likely file their arguments in federal court in Phoenix in the days leading up to July 28, when the statute is scheduled to take effect, the official said.

Administration officials have indicated the question of Arizona usurping federal authority to control the border and enforce immigration law is the most likely federal point of attack against the state law signed by Gov. Jan Brewer earlier this year.

In his immigration speech Thursday, Obama again took aim at the controversial Arizona measure, calling it "ill conceived."

"It is not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive, though it has fanned the flames of an already contentious debate, laws like Arizona's put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable. It puts pressure on already hard-strapped state and local budgets," Obama said.

The president also defended his efforts to secure the border both with Mexico and Canada.

"We doubled the personnel assigned to border enforcement security task forces," he said. "We tripled the number of intelligence analysts along the border. For the first time we have begun screening 100 percent of southbound rail shipments. And as a result, we're seizing more illegal guns, cash, and drugs than in years past."

"The bottom line is this, the southern border is more secure today than at anytime in the past 20 years," Obama added.

Obama cannot do his job – he has no clue. That is why this junior senator with 1 year experience before unning for President has done nothing except insult the GOP and blame Bush. Look at his list of failures:

    Afghan – worse today
    Iraq – still not out
Palestine – one incident away from a war and we still support Israel while they build settlements
    Iran – developing nukes
    No Korea – developing nukes
Gulf – oil still gushing and the gulf ecnonomy about to destruct
Unemployment – – where are those 5 ,000,000 new jobs?
    economy – still shaky
    market – still shaky

deficit – worst in history and Obama has added more to deficit than all prior presidents combined

Transparency – Americans cannot see into the basement where Reid Pelosi and Obama meet
Non Partisan – Obama throws more insults at GOp than any prior prez
Broken promises - too many to count

Nobody is home at the white House – they are either out making speeches blaming Bush or they was on vacation

Osama Bin Laden - laughing at us as he watches CNN

We need change - anything than what we got now

So...why I don't like this country = its full of idiots!

It is amazing to me the level of hate for this president, its ten times worse than bush and for what reason. I hate to believe its race but I can't find any other reason. Despite the hateful spewing from the republicans, my former party by the way, this man has not done all that bad....so some of you haters need to examine your motives and if it is race then this country is not the best on earth, we are as bad or worse as those we claim to be above!
    I am disgusted..
signed a white male former republican who is now an independant.

Of course, the Governor ignores the fact that both Border Patrol Agent numbers and Deportations have been higher for this administration than the previous.

    But, nah... inconvenient fact.

Maybe we need to also ask "bank robbers" to do some community service and pay a fine and the will be legal as well. After all the bank robbers were just trying to find a better way of life for them and their family.

USA is a melting pot of different cultures. No one has a problem with that part, what is most astounding is the President claims we are historically a melting pot of immigrants. When will politicians start using the word "LEGAL" instead of just immigrants.

The melting pot of immigrants melted, like every other nationality has learnt how to speak english some of them very fast. Yet mexicans or hispanics don't learn english or won't even try. They keep on trying to speak in spanish. Even when they need help they keep on trying to speak in spanish. Where is the effort to learn the national language of the US english? They celebrate mexican holidays and get mad a people sporting American flags in America, where is the outrage that these racist mexicans are so against the national flag of US where they live so freely.

American politics have really lost my confidence and support......

Even if 9-11 never happened (thanks to Bill Clinton), the border should be patrolled by the military and ARMED drones. Launch a few of those babies and see the illegals and drug dealers stay home where they belong! So they cant send there tax free earnings back to Pedro. Why do you never see ONE Mexican by themselves? Always a freakin herd of them at Walmart!

Why are you there Brewer? If your work is more challenging than you can manage, then you need to follow the foot steps of Sarah Palin and leave the job to someone else!

JC, while the Dems may have "control" of the House of Representatives, the Senate was split 49/49/2, with the rethugliban VP casting the deciding vote in the event of a tie. Let's also not forget that since the Dems have held the majority in the House, the rethugliban have employed the use of the fillibuster more times than it has been used throughout our nation's entire history. Honestly, do some research on you own instead of regurgitating reichwing screaming head talking (lying) points. Remember, the truth will set you free!

This woman has only one state to take care of and she"s telling the president to do HER job. He's got so many jobs on his plate that he's fighting to get done without the help of the OTHER party and she's yelling for help on a job that the Repubs should have taken care of years ago before the problem got so difficult. Nuts to her!

Governor Brewer, listening to your crap makes me sad to say good things about your state. Once I thought of it as a place where I don't have to deal with awful winters; now all I can think of is the hate, bigotry, and racism.

Impeach Obama for gross incompetence and dereliction of duty! There MUST be a law somewhere that he has violated sufficiently to justify impeachment.

Oops, forgot to add the dems had "control" of the House of Representatives since January 2007. Not that it really mattered when the rethugliban and deadeye dick held the Senate hostage and a "my way or the highway – if you're not with me you're agin' me" rethugliban was squatting in the Whorehouse – I mean Whitehouse.

This has nothing to do with "Governor Brewer being racist" their are illegal immigrats coming into the US, key word there ILLEGAL. If they want to be in American get a green card, its as simple as that. The president as all others make promise's they cant keep, but america needs to look around at what Mr. Obama is doing. He is helping the rest of the world out and doing nothing for his own people. Governor Brewer cant help Arozina anymore thats why she has asked for help. How did the president help, by giving Mexico some US land. That sure was alot help. Like someones already said "The federal response was to put up signs in Arizona saying the southern 80 miles of the US are unsafe to travel in? Where are we, Pakistan? We don't have control of our own territory?"

The Government should have put up a sign stating.
Drug and Human Smuggling and Illegal Entry not Recommended due to Americans traveling and residing here.

For my money, the people that constantly yell about our president are people who simply have nothing better to do. They probably are lazy thinkers who wouldn;'t read anything to back up the incredibly stupid things they are saying. They need to use their brains, not their mouths.

How is it President Obama's "job" to completely secure the border? Congress, ultimately, is the only body that can secure the Mexican border. We need to make laws that take care of all the problems of immigration and that is clearly the job of legislators. Too bad the GOP has no interest in tackling immigration legislation just like they have no interest in energy reform legislation. Brewer just exudes stupidity.

  25. Sniffit

Ever think he's might be flipping Brewer the bird because she and the conservative teatard idiots in this country magically decided to make stink over the immigration/illegal alien/border problem when the mid-term election year rolled around and they had a black liberal Dem POTUS who some of these crazy nutjob conservative morons think was born in Kenya, etc., to set their sights on? Nobody buys it unless they're a tinfoil hat wearing dittohead Limbot.

Now he'll try to get something done and pass legislation and the GOP will obstruct it. Why? Because they don't want him to make any progress on the issue prior to November...that could be disasterous for them if they lose something to scream about.
