Business leaders lunch with Obama

Washington (CNN) - Business leaders from the automotive, food and biofuels, and media worlds were lunch guests of President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday.

Roger Ferguson, president and CEO of TIAA-CREF; Bob Iger, president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company; Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford; Brian Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast; and Patricia Woertz, president and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland, were the five executives on the guest list, according to a White House official.

The lunch was "part of an ongoing dialogue with the business community about investing in our economic recovery and spurring private sector job creation," the White House official told CNN.

Obama has hosted seven lunches with business leaders since taking office.

Barf. Why doesn't Obama listen to the American People? Have lunch with an American who does not have insurance or a job. I'm sure the meal, at the very least, would be appreciated. Keep defending Fanny and Freddie so your checks don't stop.

Hmmm, he's meeting with the sectors that the government either controls (auto, biofuels, food) or has in their pocket (media).

Come on CNN, do some watchdog reporting.

Begging to Corporate America, will accomplish nothing. You must make it financially worth their while, to act. That means, you must penalize them for NOT acting!

Jobs call for manufacturing. Most of the manufacturing that made this country a world power, is now in China. That has to stop. Tax all imports of goods into the US, by American Corporations, with a surtax on imports.

Make it cheaper, to manufacture here, than to import. Pure and simple. Make it too costly to import goods, so that Americans can once again make their own products, and have jobs and well being as a result.

To do less.....is not going to be productive, at all.

Are these the last five companies that he HASN'T ATTACKED, DEMONIZED or TREID TO TAKE OVER? Companies don't just hire people because The Messiah tells them to. THEY NEED DEMAND FOR THEIR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES! Demand is DOWN therefore jobs will be DOWN. Did this stupid Campaigner-in-Chief EVER do anything except fill out government grant applications??!!

Obozo's approval rating is heading for the 20's very quickly. It is becoming all too obvious that he is pathetically CLUELESS. Witness the list of people starting to announce they are leaving.

I'm sure he gave them a good lecturing about how evil they are, and we don't need them until tax time.

It's like slaughtering a caw that you are relying on for milk. Of course the general (or gullible) public loves to hear this stuff.

Oh, I imagine Help Needed signs will begin reappearing after the Nov. elections. Nothing like keeping unemployment numbers soaring when an election is at stake - especially THIS particular election.

If this new GOP leadership could manage to break away occasionally from their CEO handlers, perhaps these fools might actually realize they are nearly as devious as they think they are.

    Young Guns, indeed.

Obama: Please tell them to STOP outsourcing our jobs to 3rd world sweatshops. That would help and be a good start to fixing the economy.
I'm tired of all these executives in suits running their businesses like a colonial empire and literally using slave labor in the name of profit margins and selling-out the American workforce.

Publicize and educate the public on how much stimulus money has not needed to be distributed, and how much has been paid back or earned.

If people knew that the number they have in their heads from a year ago is not true, they might feel better about it.
