Washington (CNN) – It may be no surprise, but a new poll indicates that Tea Party supporters and those opposed to the movement don't see eye to eye on some of the top issues facing the nation.
According to a USA Today/Gallup survey released Monday, 61 percent of self-described Tea Party movement supporters say that the federal government's debt is an extremely serious threat to the country, with only 29 percent of self-described Tea Party opponents saying that the debt is an extremely serious threat.
Forty-nine percent of Tea Party supporters say the size and power of the federal government is an extremely serious threat, with only 12 percent of Tea Party opponents agreeing.
Tea Party activists say one of the aims of their movement is to reduce the size and power of the federal government, and that's reflected in the poll. Eight out of 10 Tea Party supporters questioned say that the government is doing too much that should be left to individuals and business. That drops to 27 percent among Tea Party opponents. Only 17 percent of Tea Party activists say the government should be doing more to solve the nation's problems. That figure jumps to 64 percent among Tea Party opponents.
The survey also indicates that the concerns of Tea Party supporters are not that different from those of Republican voters.
The USA Today/Gallup poll was conducted May 24-25 and June 11-13, with 2,063 adults questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

Last time i checked the US government had NOT lied to its partners and financial institution all over the world about the state of the US economy, nor that it could do that for starters, like the Greek govt. did...
So why they still use the horrible situation in Greece (and other European countries but Greece appears first) as a model as to what may happen to the USA if 'government's spending is not limited' or 'government size is not reduced'?
Very different situations that led to similar economic problems... SIMILAR, not EQUAL.

They are polar opposites, the Tea Party Supporters are for a return to our roots of constitutional small government while their opponents are for big Socialist nanny state government. I believe the Tea Party, along with the Conservatives, Republicans and Independents that are terrified at what we are seeing from the PROGRESSIVE- SOCIALIST Obama administration will prevail in November.
Hey, Tea Party supporters, you are talking about reducing the power of federal government; what about you start reducing the power of anyone who is incharge in each of your own household and see how it works!
How about the people who leave Congress after serving only six years
go find their own health care plan and pension fund at some other job
like most do. If we quit paying these yahoos lifetime health benefits
and pensions after being on the job such a short time, we could save
a boatload of money. If States want to keep sending the same old,
same old back to Washington, then at some point it could be called
"career", and pensions earned after, say, 20 years. I'm

What the TEA Party fails to realize than in the last 30 years, the National Debt of $12.4 TRILLION dollars INCREASED 79%
Republican President Administrations INCREASED the National Debt by 60%.(Reagan, Bush, Bush)
The Democratic Presidential Administrations.. 19%. That includes Carter, Clinton, Obama
Their concern is on Obama, not the past Administration that went crazy with Tax Cuts for the rich, while spending like adrunken sailor.
These people have become a very bad joke. The debt is serious- but they continually refuse to see how it got so high. They prove themselves to be bigots,uneducated on Constitutional Law, and downright hateful. So glad America is finally catching on.
Tea Partiers, who incessantly screetch and squawk about the threat of marixism and socialism, are the same people who looked the other way as George W. Bush turned us into a debtor-nation to a marxist/socialist government, China; and, sat idly by as he more than doubled our national deficit from $5.6 trillion when he took office in 2001, to $11.9 trillion when he left office 8 years later. Every time one of these hypocritical tea-bagging whiners opens their mouths, it just proves beyond a doubt they are nothing more than feculent-brained morons.
The question the Tea Party should ask themselves is: Will investment which results in high expenditure done by the federal government, benefit the future generation or not? (for example a high speed train)!

The Tea Party is the only grass roots group calling attention to the sorry state of our government and our economy. It's a lousy job but somebody has to do!

These tea-baggers, and most Repugs, will do anything to make Pres. Obama's policies fail. The don't care about turning the economy around. The don't acknowledge the advantage of jobs gained as opposed to three quarters of a million jobs lost the last month of W's rule. In May, the Census jobs didn't count because they were government jobs. In June, when they went away, they did count as jobs lost. Gotta love it.
The Federal Government is the only hope for our country now; private business only cares about quick profit.
