Obama: 2012 Middle East nuclear conference won't single out Israel

President Obama said Tuesday that an international conference on creating a nuclear-free Middle East would not single out Israel.

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama assured visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday that an international conference on creating a nuclear-free Middle East, planned for 2012, would not single out Israel, which is believed to have a nuclear arsenal.

A White House statement issued after Obama and Netanyahu met at the White House said the president, as an organizer of the conference, emphasized it would only take place "if all countries feel confident that they can attend, and that any efforts to single out Israel will make the prospects of convening such a conference unlikely."

In addition, Obama told Netanyahu that the United States will continue working closely with Israel to ensure that arms control initiatives and policies don't hinder Israel's security, the White House statement said.

What would Obama do to attract Jewish voters and financial support for his cronies and other leftist wing democrats? We understand Obama's makeup and his apologetic tone to Muslims and antisemitic Israel haters in the Arab world for USA's pro-Israel past, and his willingness to throw Israel under the bus, while claiming "Israel's security is sacred to us". Obviously he does not understand the meaning of "security" nor that of "sacred". Sorry, the trick of Nov. 08 will not work this time around! The extreme left elite is nothing but cowards who are willing to sacrifice friends and allies for nothing, and they side with the bad guys (just to show how differently "smart" they are!)

Really? As the most secretive nuclear arms nation in the world, Israel should be singled out. For that and quite a few other things as well. News flash!!! You guys should be a lot friendlier and a lot less sneaky. I'm not as sure as I used to be that Israel is interested in peace, prosperity, and security for ALL who live in that part of the world. I'd like them to start acting like that's important, at least if they want my country to continue supporting them!

This is not helpful. The only reason Iran itself wants nuclear capability (even if not actually build up an arsenal, the same way South Africa used to build up its technology but never built its arsenal) is because it's scared out of its pants from an Israel attack. It would be hypocritic to just plain blame it on Iran. Israel itself fears attacks, and the rest of the Middle East also has legitimate fear concerns.
It would be far more productive for Israel to be honest about what people already know enough about and enter negotiations. That way we can finally get the diplomatic/military leverage that Israel has denied us in negotiations. I personally am tired of Israel drawing us into conflicts at the cost of American lives and American taxpayer money with Israel doing NOTHING to help the peace process!

Israel pulled us into the quagmire that is Iraq because Iraq defied UN sanctions against weapons of mass destruction. And yet Israel itself violates its own principles, AND is in continued violation of a 40 year old UN resolution (to which the US is signatory) demanding Israel's withdrawal from its occupation zones (Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem). And as much as each and every US administration (yes, including Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., etc.) has demanded Israel to comply, they continued to thumb their noses at us. In fact, they continue to receive 50% of our foreign aid each year all of which they spend on weapons.
I think it's time we tell Israel to give us a fair return for all our investment.

    Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

Obama cannot be trusted. He will sell you out to those trying to destroy you, as he has done to the American people.

Well, it should. Kikes should always be singled out as liars, mass murderers and nation-wreckers. The truth is anti-Semitic.

Obama you are nothing but a joke and out of touch with the American people.

If you are elected in 2012 then I know the voters are just as stupid.

What does itt take to wake up the American voters and see they got this election wrong.

Time to vote evryone out and start over. We do control who gets elected we just need to vote for people that can help and not a snake oil sales person like Obama.

Obama if you can single out Iran then you can single out Israel...there shouldn't be a double standard with nukes. Everyone has to be held accountable.
