A stimulus program even a Republican can love

New York (CNNMoney.com) - There's at least one stimulus program that's creating jobs and winning praise from both sides of the political aisle.

A little-known Recovery Act initiative is expected to put more than 200,000 unemployed people back to work in 32 states and the District of Columbia. It's called the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Fund, and it subsidizes jobs with private companies, nonprofits and government agencies.

But the $5 billion it receives runs out on Sept. 30, even though employers and state officials administering the money say there's lots more demand out there.

"Even a republican can love..." Doesn't that tell you eveything you need to know about the that party?

If only the republicans loved people as much as they love war, we would be a far richer country.

Considering TANF isn't an OBAMA initiative, it ought to be extended, isn't that right, GOPers?

Be sure to add that little nugget when all you GOPers vote YES to extend TANF benefits, won't you?

Can't have OBAMA taking credit for this little gem, now can we?

Republicans won't love anything that improves the country's economic situation. They have made it abundantly clear that they want, and will do everything they can to assist with, failure. They oppose anything and everything the Obama Administration tries to do, even if the President tries to implement policies that they supported. They want the nation to fail because they think that will help them regain power.

Don't forget that they opposed the stimulus bill and then went home to groundbreaking ceremonies, praising the jobs that it brought back to their communities! Dozens of them did that. Remember in November whose interests they serve.

TANF rightfully has bipartisan support for creating much-needed jobs.

Someone should inform Rep. Eric Cantor who deliberately mischaracterized TANF with his "YouCut" gimmick. Cantor would eliminate the jobs from this vital program based on his website.

Sounds like a lot of money, for such a limited impact. There has been far too much waste, in the stimulus, that really did little or nothing to help with unemployment.

For your information, Republicans like any program that is good for the country. But they will continue to, as people put it, be the party of no when the program will do harm to the country.

Repugs may love it, but an election is approaching, and if it helps the USA it might make Pres. Obama look good, so the Repugs have to oppose it.

They're still denying that the $787 billion stimulus program did ANY good, in spite of the obvious facts. (Such as: the jobs went from 750,000 lost per month under W to job gains, for one thing, but Repugs ignore that as they lie about the economy).
