Presidential commission to meet on oil disaster

(CNN) - The presidential commission tasked with investigating the Gulf oil gusher and making recommendations about the future of offshore drilling will hold its first public meeting Monday.

The National Oil Spill Commission has six months to determine what happened when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded April 20, leading to the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history - and how to prevent something similar from ever happening again.

Committee co-chairman, William K. Reilly, said it was hard to believe that more progress has not been made in responding to oil spills.

  1. Go USA!

The GOP blames Obama for doing "nothing" on the oill spill, and their haters blame the government for trying to help the middle class. Marxisty! Socialist! Yup, if you support a police departrmnet, fire department, interstate highways, the military, or healthcare, you are a socialist! According to the GOP's new defenition, everything done by the government to help the middle class is socialism. Watch the posts you'll see the traiters spread their garbage.

But remember how we got here, Obama didn't cause the oil spill or the economic mess we are in...

Balanced budget to record deficits in only nine years between 200 – 2009...all due to tax cuts for the rich and big business. Our jobs shipped overseas, our tax dollars shipped overseas, our brave soldiers shipped overseas to an unnecessary war in Iraq...and now, we don't even have the money, means, or will power to help our own country with an additional stimulus package where our own tax dollars would be spent here at home to help our own people. What’s worse is the possibility we will vote the same party that did this to us (the GOP) back into power in November…

What short memories we have and what a tragedy it will be for the middle class of the United States and my children.

    We have to have oil.
Form a commission to make drilling for it safer by investing money to prevent accidents, not paying for them after they happen.
We travel by air with reasonable safety: nobody would suggest abolishing air travel because some accidents happen.

Another waste of borrowed taxpayer money – I can tell you why it happened – Corrupt Washington officials did not do their jobs and allowed BP to ignore rules which could have prevented this devastation – Thank you Obama and your crooked administration – when will we wake up in this country and demand better from our crooked politicians and their minions?????????
