New York (CNNMoney.com) – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce slammed President Obama's economic policies Wednesday, saying administration officials "took their eyes off the ball" and "neglected" to focus on job creation.
A letter posted to the business group's site and a summit planned for later in the day were the latest moves in an ongoing battle between big business and the Obama administration.
The two are at odds over the best way to keep the recovery from slipping into a double-dip recession. The group believes tax cuts are key to job creation. The Obama administration, however, has focused on stimulus and spending to create jobs.
wellllll......we have successful business men saying one thing...and a community organizer saying another...who do you want to put your faith in???
Obama is so clueless it is down right frightful. He needs to quit spending money we don't have and understand Private sector needs to be the ones creating jobs. Government cannot SPEND their way out. Obama does NOT understand tax cuts and how they actually work. Raising taxes and fees will NOT create jobs, it will send more elsewhere............take a look at California and the businesses that have left.
Of course big business is against Obama. They want tax cuts for themselves and others who make the most money. They could care less about the rest of us. Bush tax cuts didn't work for us, they were all for big business and fat cats who make more money in a day than I have or will make in my entire life!
Let's stop bashing Obama and try to help him without crucifying him every time for everything.
We already gave these big business types a HUGE, unfunded tax cut, that they have been milking for 10 years. If straight up tax cuts are the best way to create jobs, then how come we have a zero net gain for the 2000s?
One thing it did create: more billionaires.
To conservative supply-siders, the creation of an overclass is somehow supposed to help the rest of us...
The only thing the US COC cares about are the rich, not the little guy. They don't want their taxes raised (and their head pooh bah rakes in millions from shaking down businesses). They just shake down business to maintain the status quo on Wall Street, the heck with Main Street.
The business community has had tax cuts and deregulation since Reagan. These tax cuts and deregulation exploded under Bush. All we have to show for giving business all of what they wanted is a crashed economy, redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the wealthiest 2%, and offshoring of jobs.
The way to boost consumer spending is to shift the tax cuts from the fat cats to the working folks. They will spend it on loan repayments, and everyday needs. This will put $ back into the economy, stimulating job creation, instead of putting it into the already over-stuffed coffers of Wall St robber barons who will use it to finance new plants in China, and politicing. Corporate America is in need of long over due control. The cowboy capitalism of the Bush years has shown Wall St cannot be trusted.
No business will do a lot of hiring as long as the share the wealth progressives are in power. Why invest in a new employee when you never know what the progressives will come up with next to hurt your business.
The Chamber of Commerce is just like the NRA. They both started as non-partisan organizations, but now both are far-right extremist organizations.
The same business groups export our jobs now they are blaming the government to focus on jobs is it joke ? or they want more visas to recruit more people in foreign
DUH!!! Anybody who has ever taken Economics 101 KNOWS that if you punish business with MORE costs then it hurts their business and they layoff as many people as necessary to STILL show a profit. When the Obama administration tells businesses their costs are going UP then spends almost a TRILLION dollars (that's right – with a "T") on redistribution programs OF COURSE THE ECONOMY WILL TANK!!! How can this be a surprise to ANYBODY!!
This president is an incompetent individual and has created a catastrophe that will take a decade to recover from.
What a joke....
The "Chamber of Commerce?" Isn't that just another puppet parapet of Dick Sargent and his "tea party" goons?
Put your seatbelts on folks...with the Bush tax cuts set to expire by their own terms, the GOP and other "free market" ideologues are going to open the throttle to ludricrous speed with the reaganomic talking point rhetoric and ad hominem attacks on anyone who refuses to believe their trickle-down fairy tales. Corporate Amurika thinks we should believe them after 30+ years of them paying average middle-class salaries that failed to even keep up with inflation...and not only are they willing to purchase whichever political wh-res are for sale, but the GOPercons are out buying themselves new fishnet stockings and astroglide right now as I write this.
Everyone knows the Chamber of Commerce is Backed by Republicans.
Obama has no experience in Administration or Managment, people are having to recognize it thus the letter was written to him.
Why wouldn't the business groups attack the president on jobs? Every one else is attacking him about something. He's had enough problems thrown at him that there must be more critics somewhere. Good Grief .. The "eyes taken off the ball" mentioned must be the ones the president is supposed to have in the back of his head. GET OFF IT PEOPLE. Seriously, with the attitude of the Repubs these days, can you imagine the turmoil if they had gained power? They can't come up with a solid thought with all of them put together.Any one voting Republican from here on is perpetuating the" free lunch' for the Repubs. They get payed huge salaries for doing nothing but complain.
