New York (CNNMoney.com) - Despite groans from Republicans about high unemployment, President Obama's administration continues to say the stimulus is creating jobs.
In its latest stimulus report released Wednesday, the White House's Council of Economic Advisers said the Recovery Act has already funded about 3 million jobs.
That's in line with earlier predictions from Christina Romer, chairwoman of the council, who has said since the beginning of the Recovery Act that the stimulus would save a total of 3.5 million jobs by the end of 2010. Different models estimate the number of jobs to be between 2.5 million and 3.6 million, meaning Romer's target may have already been reached.

This is a lie. This can't be proven or for that matter disproven.There's no doubt some jobs were created with that amount of money spent.But,nobody in their right mind would take seriously the numbers being put out by this administration.And with an unemployment rate at 9.5% after 18 months in office is nothing to brag about.

I am really having a very hard time in understanding what the heck the Democratic mean by they saved 2.5, or 3, or 3.5 millions jobs.
Let's assume that it was not any unemployment or let's say that it was 5% unemployment, which is considered full employment.
The economy must create a net gain of 200,000 jobs a month. It means that 19 months times the 200K equals 3,800,000 jobs that needed to be created, in order to break even. Therefore, it is very stupid and idiotic to say that they save anything or create any job.
No wonder our beloved country is going down like the Titanic.

The Stimulus was a stupid waste of money...we need to balance the budget by cutting spendings and holding the line on the current tax rates. This White house is incompetent....I didn't think anyone could be financially worse than Bush but Obama has proven to be even more incompetent.
It is becoming increasingly clear that this adm. is delusional. I cannot understand how any rational person (regardless of party) could continue to buy into these lies. Our economy continues to shed jobs and this is what we get. TALK and more TALK!
Thank God and the Democrats for the stimulus. I hate to see what the alternative would have been. I know it is a lot of money per job, but each of those jobs helps out the small businesses those people buy from.
I look around at the highway jobs in my area, and they are all long overdue. Our country's infrastructure has been declining since the 70's and it is nice to see work finally being done to improve it.
How many millions on average was it for each job ?
WHat an incredible waste of money. It would have gone much further to just give each person a million dollars and said they must buy a house and a new car with the money.

The model for job creation in the public sector to help stimulate grothw in the private sector was proven to work during the "New Deal". For Republicans to discount or ignore the successes is idiocy. The global economy was on the brink of severe depression and these programs have kept us from going there. No one expects these programs to be permanent but they have to have time to work. After all, fixing an economy on the brink of disaster is not like turning on a light switch and everything is wonderful again. However not giving these programs time to work could very well be ensuring our descent into a depression and it is hard to imagine that anyone with half a brain would want that sort of disaster.
Great! the stimulus worked, even the new cap in the BP oil spill is working, but when are we ever going to see gas prices come down!

What I believe in are the long unemployment lines I see. My friend just lost her job and her husband is losing his job at the city water department.
Where's the proof? There's absolutely no way Romer can prove that many jobs were saved. She's full of it and so is Obama.
Now the term is Funded? What ever happened to "Saved or Created".
Funded means they gave money to over paid government employees who refused to take a pay cut.
