FEC fines Biden more than $200k for violations

Joe Biden owes more than $200,000 to the Treasury, according to an audit.
Joe Biden owes more than $200,000 to the Treasury, according to an audit.

(CNN) – A day after the Federal Elections Commission slapped Joe Biden with a $219,000 fine for spending violations during his failed presidential bid, a spokeswoman for the vice president is calling the ruling “commonplace.”

"Some repayment is commonplace after presidential campaign audits and the repayment ordered here is relatively small,” said Biden spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander. “Payment is due to the Treasury 30 days after the FEC issues its formal ruling and 'Biden for President' will comply with that."

In a report released Friday, the FEC said a mandatory audit showed the campaign had accepted contributions above the legal limit, failed to adequately pay for rides on a private jet, and issued several checks that had never been cashed.

I didn't know the Fed had it in them to be nonpartisan, it's a good day for all.

No political party should be exempt from fines incurred for violations. Bravo to the FEC.

One of Obama's mob. A typical gangster trying to swindle the taxpayers. But yet he will be a hero to the Television thieves.

Classic elitist Democrat thinking he wouldn't get caught. Now Uncle Joe can join the likes of Tim Geitner and Tom Daschle! Barry's closest comrades.

CNN is it a fine or a repayment? There is a big difference between the two.

A fine is a punishment after a conviction.

A repayment is a corrective action after an audit.

You wouldn't be faking a headline to incite people would you?

I think this is pretty normal for campaign funds to be fined. We have built in so many law and checks and balances that candidates' campaign committees will make mistakes. May we find a meaningful topic to discuss. CNN is having a hard time finding the news and writing headlines that make the story appear to be bigger than it is.

See these Democrats shouldn't even be in office but behind bars. But because they are they get to make the rules. This isn't justice but socialism!

so let me get this right. every person, or at least most, who's run a presidential campaign are as sloppy with their bookkeeping and have broken the campaign rules. that's a great thing to know.

what is interesting to me is if anyone applying for a job were found to have broken the application rules, they are subject to possible loss of their current job. why isn't this the case with politicians?

Democrats, Republicans are all politicians, same game, different faces. I guess politicians still haven't learned that sooner or later they get found out, Biden got found out. If I can't trust my Vice President who can I trust???????

Typical Democrat breaking election laws and rules again, and calling it "commonplace." Just because it is "commonplace" doesn't mean it is right.

    Ho Hum ...

By the way, did you hear about the new Republican plan they want to implement IF they get back in office

Don't feel left out, nobody heard, the Republicans said it's a secret, and don't want the media to see them, or the American people

But they expect us to vote them back into office so they can put these great plans to use ?

I'm serious, look it up, it happened yesterday

    Have a great day
