Palin's dawn of refudiation

After using an unrecognized English word in a tweet, Sarah Palin is borrowing a page from Shakespeare's book.
After using an unrecognized English word in a tweet, Sarah Palin is borrowing a page from Shakespeare's book.

(CNN) – Former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has joined the pantheon of politicians who've made their own additions to the English language.

The former Alaska governor has added to our vocabulary with "refudiates" - assumedly an amalgamation of "refute" and "repudiates." Palin used the new word in a Sunday posting on Twitter that called on Muslims to denounce plans to build a mosque and community center near Ground Zero in New York City.

"Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn't it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate," Palin tweeted, according to reports.

The original tweet was deleted and replaced with another that lacked "refudiate": "Peaceful New Yorkers, pls refute the Ground Zero mosque plan if you believe catastrophic pain caused @ Twin Towers site is too raw, too real."

Although she deleted her original tweet, Palin is not distancing herself from her new word. Instead, Palin is embracing it and turning to none other than Shakespeare to justify her linguistic invention.

"'Refudiate,' 'misunderstimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!" Palin tweeted Sunday as the blogosphere started to criticize her for a gaffe.

She alludes to former President George W. Bush's famous utterances of "misunderstimate" during the 2000 campaign and President Barack Obama's use of "wee-wee'd up" to describe Washington's penchant for getting worked up over controversy.

Palin's original tweet remains missing from her Twitter page. Some of Shakespeare's works are lost too.

I think Sarah Palin thinks 'gaffe' is an animal with a long neck that lives in Africa!

It's ironic that Palin will embrace her OWN bad vocabulary as something quaint...and then defend her bad grammar by comparing HERSELF to Shakespeare??

As Sarah's own budget buster idol Ron Regan said (paraphrase).....
"Sarah...I know Shakespeare (thru his works)...and YOU ARE NO SHAKESPEARE!"

Is this honestly worth reporting??? Biden gaffes every time he breathes pretty much. This was just a Twitter post; the whole thing is typed in slang, could have been a typo as well, but who cares anyways?

Dumbest woman in politics today. And yet millions would vote her into the White House. That's what's wrong with the US – stupidity is rife.

So Obama is a horrible president, the worst thing ever to happen America, AND rending the very fabric of our Republic so carefully woven by our forefathers, but she cites him when shows what an ignoramus she is?
However, there's a difference: "wee wee'd up" is obviously a made up word. And don't believe her when she claims poetic license a la Shakespeare. He coined new words on purpose, she on the other hand is a moron who wants to sound intelligent.

Stupefying Sarah should master the English language in ALL it's nuances first. That would include being able to READ it and WRITE it, with AT LEAST an eight grader's grasp of basic grammar, BEFORE she starts introducing Sarah Speak to the menu!!

What needs to be REPUDIATED is her half-ass attempt at convering up her linguistic inadequacies, and defficiencies by trying to CREATE a new language whose word meanings only she is privy to......much like her thoughts!

Now I suppose they'll have to add the word "Palinism" as a synonym for "Bushism" when referring to a person who makes up their own nonsensical jargon because they can't say or remember the real multisylable words.

Look at this list and draw your own conclusions ...
Senator E. Dirkson, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard M. Nixon, Nelson Rockefeller, Barry Goldwater, Spiro Agnew, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, John Beoner, Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, Michelle Bachman! Notice how the curve slopes downward. What has happened to the GOP?

Even though she nauseates me, normally I'd say "so what", don't you have anything better to do than jump on typos? But if she's going to celebrate her illiteracy, as did W....then I'd say, pounce away.

It doesn't matter though– her fan base doesn't really know what any of those words mean anyway.
