Washington (CNN) – Andrew Breitbart, the conservative blogger who published video of a speech by former USDA employee Shirley Sherrod, said Tuesday that his decision to release the video was not motivated by wanting to target Sherrod, the African-American woman shown in the footage talking about racially-charged matters at an NAACP event.
Instead, Breitbart told CNN he released the Sherrod video because he believes it shows the NAACP itself tolerates racist behavior within its ranks – a stinging accusation just one week after the civil rights group made a similar charge against the conservative Tea Party movement.

"This was not about Shirley Sherrod," Breitbart said Tuesday in an interview set to air on CNN's John King, USA.
"This was about the NAACP attacking the Tea Party and this [the video of Sherrod] is showing racism at an NAACP event. I did not ask for Shirley Sherrod to be fired. I did not ask for any repercussions for Shirley Sherrod. They were the ones that took the initiative to get rid of her. I - I do not - I think she should have the right to defend herself."
Breitbart also described his decision to publish the Sherrod video as an effort to expose what he sees as the NAACP's hypocrisy when it comes to allegations of racism.
"[R]acism is used by the left and the Democratic Party to shut up opposition," Breitbart told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King, "And [by releasing the Sherrod video] I am showing you that people who live in glass houses should not be throwing stones."
And Breitbart also sounded off on claims by African-American congressmen that they had been greeted by racial slurs during a Capitol Hill protest earlier this year. The protest included Tea Party activists.

The conservative blogger said the NAACP had "resurrected the false charge" that racial slurs had been directed at the black lawmakers in order to help justify the civil rights organization's recent resolution calling on the leaders of the Tea Party movement to condemn racist elements within their movement's ranks.
"[I]t is a manufactured political hit against the Tea Party because they're fearful that this group of people is going to amass going into November," Breitbart told King.

Breitbart is a real jerk. He got this good woman fired over his giant ego and rush to judgement.
Mediamatters and TPMmuckraker are revealing what a fraud Fox News (big surprise there) and Breitbart are.
This was about stirring up trouble and controversy no matter how flimsy the evidence. Same tactics the conservatives always live by.
They threw honesty and integrity out years ago and have sold their collective souls in their lust for power.
Well ... don't you look STUPID now Andrew !!
You couldn't care the NAACP's ethical jock strap sir!
Turns out the woman wasn't espousing racial views after all if you listen to the tape in context ... she was talking about racial healing.
And, counter to your ASSumptions ... the NAACP did renounce her based on the doctored portions of the videotape you released ... I'll bet that suprised you.
The shame is .... simply because of your narrow minded "I'm a white victim of black racism [which is hardly the case]" this life long public servant has lost her job and the NAACP has proved your indictment wrong.
I hope the lady sues you for contributing to her wrongful termination. Maybe that will teach you to mind your business!
Does anyone have the facts in this story? They keep changing all the time!! The administration has their version, the NAACP has a version,Shirley Sherrod has a version and now Andrew Breiitbart has one. Also there's the version put out by USDA and the person that terminated her.And none of their stories match. Some one is lying about what the heck happened !!!!
Breitbart: 'This was not about Shirley Sherrod'
He's right... This was about changing the subject, and it worked!!!! The hot topic for the past few days has been the Lincoln letter. Breitbart succeded in changing the focus from the tea party, and the Lincoln letter to this nonsense about Mrs Sherrod.
It's so easy to play the press
Breitbart, what part of "You shall not bear false witness" do you not understand?
Someone has to ask this man why he only played part of the recording (as if we didn't know). Having seen it on national news tonight it is clear he set up everyone and baited those who detest the Democratic regime. She was trying to make the point that "poor is poor" and not a black or white issue. He is a true trouble maker - and unfortunately in this day of sound bites people will only believe what he has released. This tactic only reinforces some of our opinions about the dangerous conservatives.
Well CNN, you are the one that hired this person....video was edited and he claims he didn't do it....Oh please.......He is just pulling a "gotcha" thing because of the tea party....This man is nothing but a trouble maker and if things don't go the way he likes it, he makes sure he can change it.....Sure glad I left the Repbulican Party with people like this...
No, instead as an agent of the republicans, you took out of context, twisted until it show the opposite of what it was and used it for conservative propaganda, yeah your a real peach and a liar for the GOP.
This is typical what conservatives in the media do. They take a story a woman tells about how she changed and realized she WAS discriminating on race 24 years ago, and CHANGED through working with this white farmer, but when Breitbart reports it like it happened yesterday, ergo, HE REMOVED THE PART WHERE SHE CHANGED so that it would look like she's still a bigot, when really she came to realize it's not about race, it's about helping people who need it whatever their color.
This is the very definition of slander.
I saw the interview with guy. A true scumbag. He was using sirley in some sort of game he was playing. If I were here I would sue him and fox news for everything they got.
Breitbart, keep 'em rolling.
I guess anyone can have a blog
This guy appears to be looking for attention
NO FACTS to back up his mouth
