Democrats agenda running out of gas as midterms approach

After President Obama signs a financial reform bill Wednesday and as the midterm elections draw near, will Democrats celebrate any more legislative victories?

Washington (CNN) - Congressional Democrats have had a fairly successful time pushing through their agenda since taking control of both chambers of Congress and the White House.

Congress passed items backed by President Obama such as health care reform, a financial regulatory bill and economic stimulus measures.

The most recent wins came Tuesday when Senate Democrats broke a Republican filibuster on extending unemployment benefits to some Americans, and a Senate committee approved Supreme Court justice nominee Elena Kagan.

But that might be the last victories Democrats see in Congress for a while with both parties starting to pay more attention to midterm elections than legislation.

It is my stance and many that I know that if there is a Dem boot them out. They just refuse to do what the people want. We did not want Healthcare Reform, we do not want Financial Reform well at least not what they passed (had it banned derriatives maybe then but they just gave the FED more power) They are worse than the republicans if you ask me; more unemployment money for the unemployed? How long do we keep this up forever until we have a society that is so dependent on the government that we have a Socialist Society. It amazes me hwo we get here. What are individual americans doing for themselves? Wake up people. You do have to save yourself.

    Aw Well,
When will people learn? The Liberal Democrats have been selling Snake Oil for the last 100 years and people have been buying it! I don't know about you but I don't like the 13 trilllion and growing national debt
. People are going to ride this horse right into the ground until it's dead. But will they learn anything? We had one depression and all the things that were supposed to fix it but guess what? They have killed the Goose that laid the Golden Egg. Maybe they need to look up the Pogo Rule.

"Running out of gas"? Obama finally shamed the GOP into continuing unemployment benefits for the victims of Bush II's depression, and he's "running out of gas"?

Obama finally shamed the GOP into passing some mild, basic regulation of the corporate overlords who own too many legislators of both parties, , and he's "running out of gas"?

What planet is the writer of this article on? Has CNN really crawled into Fox's slimy bed?

"Congressional Democrats have had a fairly successful time pushing through their agenda since taking control of both chambers of Congress and the White House."

The problem is that "pushing through their agenda" implies, in at least the cases of health care "reform" and the so-called "stimulus," the Dems pushing against the express wishes of a majority of the American people and, ultimately, ignoring those wishes.

I guess you could call this "success"–successful bits of tyranny.

Cap and Tax is next and will be yet another Liberal-Democrat sponsered legislation against the will of the American People.

The unfortunate FACT is that Democrats know full well that their control will be lost in November. Therefore they will push their liberal and socialistic agenda to the hilt during the last 104 days of their stranglehold on American Taxpayers!

It will be an absolute Democrat massacre come November. The latest 2400 page Wall Street bill was an atrocity. Simply more pencil / paper pushing, more beauracracy. They didn't even audit the Fed! In fact the bill gives the Fed more power! Liberals who think this was some kind of victory are true idiots and their time is running out.

Not really, they still have plenty to do. Disolve the union that was created by the constitution. Implement Sharia law. Create a manifesto to support the new USSA. Maybe we can get congress fired .. that would be a plus

Gee, does that also mean the republicans won't have so much to fillibuster??
It is time for the American people to let this political party who have done and supported nothing for our survival know that we are thoroughly disgusted, angry over their actions and will not let

It is so funny, they can point to their accomplishments as can the inept, corrupt, incompetent, union toady president and all of it is wildly unpopular with the American people. Which reminds me, when is CNN going to publish a story about the DOJ defense of Obamacare where they claim the mandatory participation is legal and amounts to a tax, when the great leader himself last November said it wann't. This is another one of those "things that make you go, huh." Like them suing Arizona for usurping Federal law, but not suing the so called "sancturary cities." for doing the same thing. Obozospeak is hypocrisy and lying.

Are Americans blind and deaf? This President and Congress has passed more legislation for the benefit of all Americans (tax cuts for middle class, health care for unisured children, finacial regulation to benefit consumers, equal pay act, credit card fees rules and many others). The last President gave the weathy class tax cuts, gave us a war justified by FALSE information, another war that we were losing and trillions in debt!
Look at the truth, America! Not the faux news!

More had been positively accomplished in the last year and a half than has in decades. Congrats to the Dems and Obama. Oddly, the media has trampled on these accomplishments. You would think nothing was being done, the way the corporate media is reporting things. Sadly, no surprise there.

Thier agenda is not running out of gas. It is running out of our money.
An old saying....The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of everyone else's money. Well Obama has run out of mine, my children's and my grandchildren's.

The Democrats on the Hill must be careful in their choices of their agenda. Cap and trade should not be exposed at this time. Spending should be curtailed and they need to show the American people that what they say is honest and truthful, for example 'pay as you go'. They are out of control and the voters will retailliate at the poles. Incumbants be fearful!

What?? Obama can't find anything else to ruin?? There is NOTHING Obama has done that has helped this economy or the people he claims to support. Remember (and he has said publicly) that he doesn't like capitalism and businesses take advantage of people so initiates overwhelming government control/regulation/taxes on virtually every business. So now businesses find it doesn't make sense to hire (the marginal cost of labor is more than the marginal benefit) and the Obama administration is wondering why employment is near 10% with no sign of improvement?

Get ready for a total restructuring of our government representatives. WE ARE FED UP AND WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!! Remember, the government WORKS FOR US!! WE DO NOT WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT!! In November we are kicking ALL INCUMBENTS OUT!! Doesn't matter if they have an "R" or a "D". We are kicking them all out and starting over...........

I hope so. There is no way that someone with radical views that Kagan have should be on the SC. The healthcare fisco will end up being a disaster for senior citizens just wait and see. Now they want a fat index system on everyones body. Another way for the gov. to take total controll over our life.

They accomplished a whole lot more than many of their predecessors – more positive legislation.

Boy, wouldn't it be nice if we could all only work half a year and spend the other half schmoozing our bosses on why we should get to keep our jobs. Spend more time working and less time campaigning. That's what they were elected to do.

Actually, the democrats have done a really good job at setting our country up for federal control of everything and to heck with states rights and existing laws, including the Constitution. If this is what they were after, they have got it done so they can now go rest for awhile and criticize the republicans for overturning all their bad stuff.

You can tell the Democratic Party's accomplishments are huge – just listen to the uncontrollable whining and crying from the radical right. All their name calling and un-Patriotic rhetoric is at an all time high. Utter hysteria!
The Republicans have used every political trick available to try to stop our country from moving forward and toward recovery from the failures of the Bush/Cheney years of destruction.
