Washington (CNN) - White Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that Shirley Sherrod is "owed an apology. I would do that on behalf of this administration."
"A disservice was done. An apology was owed. That's what we've done," he told reporters at the White House.
"Decisions were made based on an incomplete set of facts," Gibbs said. "Members of this administration, members of the media, members of different political factions ... have all made determinations and judgments without a full set of facts."
Gibbs said that "we live in a culture (in which) things whip around, people want fast responses, (and) we want to give fast responses."
"One of the great lessons you take away from this is to ask all the questions first," he added.

What apology? So sorry you're a racist? Unreal.

Gibbs is absolutely correct! He has accurately captured all the culprits to blame for this debacle.
This is a new high for liberal double standards. Sherrod is a disgrace and made outlandish comments. I watched the entire video of her "story" and found her comments extremely racist. This isn't about what she did, but the words she chose to tell the story. The NAACP and others that support her have zero creditability and have attacked others like a rabid attack dog for much lesser comments.
So... does this mean Mel Gibson gets a pardon too ?
The woman said what she said in plain english to a
cheering, laughing crowd. She even used stand up
comic style timing and facial expressions as she was

and when white people listen to and watch the tape of this

Mr. Breitbart is one smart person. Look what he did with 30 seconds of a video. He completely took the NAAACP's new regulation against the Tea Party and threw it right back in their face. The NAAACP calls the Tea Party racists with no proof whatsoever and Mr. Breitbart shows how two-faced this group is because the whole group is sitting around laughing at the fact that this lady was going to discriminate against a white farmer. If you think about it, it was pretty genius on Mr. Breitbart's part.
For how much longer will CNN repeating this story? We just getting tired of it! There are actually more important news happening around the world, you know! This looks more and more like a soap-opera! I used to enjoy watching CNN, and FOX at same time. Two different views sometimes, which complemented each others different views, but lately CNN really has switched to left and became more of a gossip-broadcast, rather than a news cast. Today, I do prefer to watch the more balanced and accurate FOX news. (Except Fox and friends, which sounds to much like CNN news!, to be honest)!
Not just Obama, but all Americans need to stand up to these slimey scum-bag political propogandists who think they can manipulate the facts to lie and cheat their way into power – or promote their lap dogs into power. We need to be vigilant to protect ourselves and our country.
Fox media is the worst at spreading lies and half truths because they disguise themselves as a legitimate news source which this incident disproves totally. Most of the time fox doesn't even identify the people or their credencials who are talking on their "shows". And the rest of the time the start with "some people say ....... ".

Now that the DOJ has found that the Bush administration was clean in its firing of the US Attorney's after a two year investigation, will the libertards, particularly the ones who demean and degrade republicans in these pages, apologize for all of the hateful, stupid things they said about Bush and Gonzalez in regard to this. Mrs. Sherrod is owed an apology by all who jumped to conclusions but especially by the website that chopped up her speech and defamed her. She needs a good attorney who can put them completely out of business financially... I hope she will pursue legal action. As for her boss and the department of Agri., he needs to apologize and offer her her job back, then hope like heck she accepts. Other wise he has a similar problem the owners of that website have. Good luck Mrs. Sherrod. Also, I think the elder farmer who came forward is to be congratulated for being a true and proud American. He stood up for what was right and he along with Mrs. Sherrod are examples of what decent American people look like...
A rightfully deserving apology to Ms. Sherrod from the administration and other organizations.
Now, will the Fox propaganda machine (Laura Ingraham, Bill O'Reily, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, et al.) apologize for lying and defaming a decent person's record? Oh, who am I kidding?
Vilsak should deliver the apoligy in person and acknowledge he made a decision based on incomplete information,
Sherrod should accept graciously and move on.
It won't happen that way,....Vilsak will make excuses and Sherrod will make a race issue out of it.
I'm glad to see that they have acknowledged the error, now if they could do that for the many other errors this admin has done.
Shirley Sherrod should sue Rupert Murdoch and FOX News for slander and defamation of character.
I have long been an Obama supporter but I must admit that on this issue the Administration was in a Fire, Aim, Ready mode. The administration should have also been suspect when they herd that FOX News was going to run the story.
