Obama, Sherrod speak

(CNN) - President Obama and Shirley Sherrod have now spoken by telephone, the White House reports:

The President reached Ms. Sherrod by telephone at about 12:35. They spoke for seven minutes.

The President expressed to Ms. Sherrod his regret about the events of the last several days. He emphasized that Secretary Vilsack was sincere in his apology yesterday, and in his work to rid USDA of discrimination.

The President told Ms. Sherrod that this misfortune can present an opportunity for her to continue her hard work on behalf of those in need, and he hopes that she will do so.

I voted for President Obama but he really needs a "real American" like Sherrod to encourage him to stop bending over so much to the right wingers. Stand up! It is painful to watch how FAUX News and their gangsters have the President tap dancing.

He should have offered her a job working for AG Holder. Then they all could stand around and tell stories about evil white people and close their eyes to black racism.!!!

I think that Shirley Sherrod could lend a possitive to the Obama Administration. She could help them keep their reactions down to earth. Unfortunately, the Republican Party has gotten away with too much latitude for jerking people around. President Obama, I support you 110% and want your people to take a breath and be yourselves. You have good instincts, go with them.

Now that we've got that little matter out of the way,Obama can go back to work building this nice little "socialist utopia" that is his main goal. That means unemployment needs to stay high and more and more people need to rely on their government.

The only ones that should be apologizing are Faux News and Breit-bait.
They are the parties that instigated this sick and twisted race-baiting character assasination to get their BIGOT audience fired-up.

Time to leave this poor woman alone. It's bad enough the fascist right-wing propagandists threw her under the bus and Southern bigots killed her husband. Of course Faux and their cronies conveniently edited that little fact out.

I'm not a politician but with so many people in the administration that keep track of it's workings, shouldn't some one have had this story checked fore and aft before the president was ever put in a position of commenting? Heads would be rolling if I were pres. and was given a half"baked" explanation like this without every inch having been checked. As president, I would have assumed that I was on firm ground. You just can't get good help, these days.

Andrew Breitbart has shown us that as a citizen of this country, he has nothing worthwhile to contribute or to offer. He is useless as a human being, and we, as a nation, would be better off if he were not here.

Clearly her comments show she is driven by racism. We only have her version of the death of her father and her convoluted explanation of what she meant when she didn't do what she should for the white farmer and that she thought "one of his own kind" would work better for him. All of her comments show an abiding racism that she isn't able to let go. Her job should not be reinstated. Instead, Obama and the media are apologizing and portraying her as a sympathetic character who has been wronged. She's playing this for all it's worth!

It was a rush of judgement on the part of the White House and Sect. of Agriculture, like the good ole boy, did as he was told. He basically took the heat off the White House. The President and Attorney General have a habit of rush to judge ,(Arizona's immigration bill) file lawsuit before even reading the document. If Latinos call the Arizona Bill racist, well then so is the Federal government for the Arizona bill is copied from the Federal governments law that is on the books , but never enforced!

Ms. Sherrod IF you are a Christian – act like one and FORGIVE. Our president along with a lot of us – jumped the gun and judged you. You have been offered an apology. Accept it, learn from it and move on. Our country needs our president and you. Let the troublemakers beck, palin and the others create all the noise they want but remember: blessed are the peace makers. Its over now and we all learned from it.

If everyone wants to take the high road in this situation, then it is a situation that offers many lessons to be learned. We all know what those lessons are: Being judgemental, forgiveness, sincerity, honesty, remorse, committment, etc., etc. Ms. Sharrod should take the opportunity to continue her work at USDA and work tirelessly to eradicate racisim there – her life-long work. This situation has elevated her work; not deminished it. And, for her to not accept the challenge of eradicating racisim at USDA would be an historic, significant, important opportunity lost. Of course, now that she has been catapulted into the American limelite there will be lucrative opportunities for her, however, if she took them, would she be true to her self-proclaimed purpose in her life's work? Will she become Sarah Palin II. I hope not. America needs values because we have none as a society.
