Dean endorses a Gingrich candidacy

Former House Speaker and prominent conservative Newt Gingrich got an endorsement from an expected source Sunday.
Former House Speaker and prominent conservative Newt Gingrich got an endorsement from an expected source Sunday.

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won't yet say if he's running for president in 2012, but he picked up an unlikely endorsement Sunday.

Gingrich, a leading conservative Republican, has "a ton of ideas to move the country forward," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, a past chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said on "Fox News Sunday."

"There are no ideas in the Republican Party right now in the Congress," Dean said. "They're the party of 'no.' They desperately need some intellectual leadership. And whatever you think of Newt Gingrich, he can supply intellectual leadership. So I hope he does run."

Gingrich, who also appeared on the show, joked that Dean's backing could doom his candidacy if he runs.

"Here's my opponent's clip in the primaries," Gingrich said of the Dean comment.

Newt must seek clearance from Rush,Hannity,Beck and Madam Bauchman if he stands any chance. Plus he must be ready to accomodate Sarah Palin in any deal. Good luck Newt.

I'm pretty sure Democrats would pay real money to see Gingrich or Palin matched up against Obama in 2012, and would appreciate you providing a link where they can send donations to the "Draft Gingrich" and "Draft Palin" campaigns.

Well, if the choice is between Palin and Gingrich, I endorse Dean's choice. I may not agree with Gingrich on....anything, but who do I want to be in charge of the nuclear button? One thing is clear: McCain should be impeached because he made this choice possible.

CNN. What a dishonet headline! Dean did no such thing, and you know it.

It is sarcasm, AND wishful thinking on Dean's part. Anyone should be able to read that in his comments. He's hoping for an easy Democratic win.

I'm sure whoever runs against Obama in 2012 will win, what he has done to make a bad situation worse is unbelievable. By the time 2012 rolls around America will start to get a taste of the true cost to each of us that the Obama, Reid and Pelosi's Progressive Socialism Power grab will truly be. If our government were to rid itself of ALL these self serving politicians and cast off the technocrat lawyers that prevent our Government from functioning per the Constitution, like enforcing the laws we have, America would once again true up and be the greatest Nation in the World. Just Remember in November how much your healthcare premiums went up (DEMS), the d-valuation of your home (DEMS), how much that child you were thinking of having already owes (DEMS), why your public escuela is bankrupt and no longer a learning institution (DEMS), who has a job and who had a job (DEMS)! It's theirs and they own it do not let them spin their way out!

People, here's some info about Newt Gingrich that might interest you.
He was forced to resign in disgrace as Speaker of the House and his congressional seat in Congress.
While his first wife was in the hospital fighting Cancer, he asked her for a divorce so he could marry his mistress...which he later did, only to divorce her as well for another mistress.

Pls. tell me about his Republican values?

    The man is a creep

I dont like Gingrich. i come frm the generation that worships style over substance, good looks over intellect, and one liners over well thought out speech. in other words, Newt Gingrich would make an awesome President if we all wised up and got our heads out of the toilet.

But the GOP shuns intelligence, and ridicules knowledge. Why would they nominate Newt?

I watched that show this morning and Dean should be ashamed of himself for weaseling out of answering a direct question given to him after calling Fox a racist news channel. He was asked at least 3 times a direct question and he refused to answer. The endorsement of Gingrich was just an excuse to claim the republicans were a party of no ideas and further push his agenda for appearing on the show He embarrased himself in the eyes of this independent. .

That's an endorsement? Saying that he hopes he runs? I hope he runs too, and I ain't endorsing him. I want him to run against Sarah Failin Palin ... that is entertainment I don't want to miss.

This is NOT an official endorsement, altough I can understand how it can be misconstrued as such. In the context of the statement, he was saying that no one person in the Republican party currently has any intellectual merit, suggesting that simply being the party of No is not an exercise in the intellectual merit that Newt Gingrich might be able to offer. This is Not and endorsement, it is a strong stance on pushing the counry forward based on sound decision making, and competition to reach this end is what makes our Democracy thrive.

It's not surprising that between the two parties of the elite, there are many points where common ground can be found. Diplomacy calls it compromise. But when it comes to governance to the extreme of control, then dictates to the lower classes become a compromise of individual freedom. I trust neither of these advocates for the industrial institutions they represent. America needs someone to stand for the worker. Too long have members of the labor force been devalued on mass-scale interactions by the adversarial systems in place now.

I don't think America needs another recession or depression or another illegal occupation of a foreign coutry or a cut in all social programs and the deepening of America;s debt like the Bush's have provided for America. So Newt is just what he is named a Newt. Send him back under his rock. Anyone that will trust another Republican has to be nuts or Anti-American. I hope Palin runs so we can be sure no republican will win(LOL).

Nice deceptive work on the headline there CNN. Dean endorses Gingrich for GOP candidate, but would still prefer a Democrat to win the election. If a Republican were to win, it would be better if it was Gingrich rather than Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, or the other bozos who are trying to bring back segregation (aka the tea party fans who want the country to go back to the days of when the Constitution was written).

Really Newt? Let's hear just one.

You republicans haven't been able to come up with one idea since you lost the congress in 2006.

Newt is definitely NOT the typical Republican.
Newt does have IDEAS. Most of the Republican leadership(?) today are full of hypocrisy, lies, and very few ideas.
