(CNN) – The Portland Police Bureau interviewed former Vice President Al Gore last week in connection with a re-opened investigation into charges he attempted to sexually assault a massage therapist, CNN affiliate KATU reports.
Citing a law enforcement source, KATU reports the former vice president sat down with investigators while he was in San Francisco last Thursday to answer questions about the charges.
In a statement to CNN, Gore spokeswoman Kalee Krieder said, "Our office has no comment as the process is ongoing."
A spokesperson for the Portland Police Bureau did not return CNN's request for comment
Portland police authorities re-opened their investigation earlier this month into a massage therapist's allegation that Gore had "unwanted sexual contact" with her in 2006.
"In reviewing this case, we have determined there were procedural issues with the 2009 investigation that merit re-opening the case," the police department said in a statement announcing the investigation had been re-opened. "There should have been command level review at the time on the specifics of this case and decisions on whether the investigation should go forward."
A renewed investigation "will only benefit Mr. Gore," Kreider said at the time. "The Gores cannot comment on every defamatory, misleading, and inaccurate story generated by tabloids. Mr. Gore unequivocally and emphatically denied this accusation when he first learned of its existence three years ago. He stands by that denial."
The therapist told police in a prepared statement in January 2009 that she was "repeatedly subjected to unwanted sexual touching" by Gore during an October 2006 massage she performed on the former vice president at his hotel room. The department initially concluded there was not enough evidence to bring charges against Gore.
I am suprised Al Gore even knows what sex is!
"is it any surprise that hispanics, many of whom are themselves illegal, or have family members who're illegal, oppose this law? ANY criminal demographic is going to oppose measures designed to curtail their particular genre of crime."
Apparently, "hispanic" is now a "criminal demographic" that should be associated with a "particular genre of crime." This type of statement should be used as a sort of "color blind" test like they do with an image of something red imbedded in a green field and such. If you can see the racsim imbedded in the above statement, you're fine...if you can't see it and are entirely oblivious to it, then you are a Teatard and are blind to non-overt racism. And you morons wonder why you get called racists? The above statement is not "just disagreeing" with liberals or whoever. It is inherently wrongheaded race-based idiocy. There's a difference. Learn it, behave accordingly and we'll stop pointing out that what you just did or said was done or said in complete unawareness of its racist overtones.
So we Portland Tax payers paid to fly our police to SF to interview Mr Gore?
Unbelievable.......and this guy was almost our President....uh wait, we elected Bush, so I guess Gore even though a dope still couldnt have been much worse.
I think Al got a little global warming below the equator...or beltline.
I heard he offered her 300 carbon credits for sexual services.
And you can rely on the Democrats for a good, old fashioned HETERO-sex scandal. So tired of all those weird GOP scandals ...
Hopefull it is from his cell.
And the truth shall come gushing forth ! Har har de har har!
