Washington (CNN) - Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky will exchange vows under a sky free of low-flying air traffic, courtesy of the Federal Aviation Administration.
At the request of the U.S. Secret Service, the FAA is restricting air traffic Saturday evening within 1.5 miles of Rhinebeck, New York, the expected site of the much-anticipated wedding. Air traffic over 2,000 feet - including all commercial flights - will not be interrupted.
The Secret Service requested the flight restrictions for security reasons only, the FAA said. In this instance, the notice says it is for "VIP movements."
It is common for the FAA to grant temporary flight restrictions - or TFRs - to increase security where government VIPs are moving or gathering. The number of security-related TFRs has jumped since the 2001 terrorist attacks.
And while the guest list for the Clinton-Mezvinsky wedding has not been announced, at least two prominent participants will clearly be in attendance - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Clinton.
The restrictions on low-level flights will last from 3 p.m. Saturday until 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

They have to watch out for tea party crackpots.
Now is all of this actually necessary? Gosh.
Air traffic restricted – only bombers and Warthogs! We don't want our military to run into any civilian aircraft during the bomb runs
What is CNN's fascination with this wedding?
We don't have royalty in this country. Kindly stop treating the Clintons like they are royals.
Don't let the corrupt media in who will try to find something to Bash the Clintons with.
Cue the right wing nutjob comments. They did the same for Bush`s daughter Jenna. Don`t get your diapers all twisted GOP lemmings.....
I'm sure the right wing-nuts will whine and cry about the security, but it makes a lot of sense. The amount of dignitaries and high level government types from our country and many different countries around the world would be a target for "home grown" and world wide terrorist groups.
No terrorists would attack a rightwing gathering like this as the Osama BinLaden types relate to the neo-cons who use fear and hate to control their followers too. Using fear and hatred to promote the mind set of never ending war, while targeting a minority of the population as the distrusted enemy are seen as good politics by both.
I am going to request the same service from the FAA when my daughter gets married next year.
Money talks, and you-know-what walks.....and if you got the money, you can get them to do anything for you.
Personally, I think someone ought to buzz the wedding with an R/C plane, just to prove to the high and might Clintons that they're not any more special than any other people in this country.
gimme a break!
Oh, to be one of the Party of the Working Man.
Nothing wrong with that ! Her father is an ex president and deserves security measures. Also, she deserves her privacy which the press will never allow her if they have their way.
The ticker tag line is "All politics, all the time"
So *how* is this "politics"?
Not saying it shouldn't be reported on, but why in the Ticker? Will never get that, CNN.
This is totally NOT a newsworthy story.
And who is paying for this?
Why the American people...of course.
Congrats to Chelsea. I wish them and leave thier marriage stuff alone. She is not a public figure.
More preferential treatment for American "royalty," at taxpayer's expense, of course.
She is the daughter of a former President and her mother is Secretary of State, she and her family deserve privacy and security. I think it is safe to say that many people going to this wedding are VIP's who might be targets of violence. Better safe than sorry. Sounds like no one will really be affected by this ruling anyway, only the press trying to sneek a peek.
She's a (former) presidents daughter so I understand the security issues. It's good she found love and wants to get married. However, I have no interest whatsoever in her million dollar wedding paid for by US. Most of us are concerned about keeping our families together and getting through these difficult times bought to you courtesy of the republicans.
C'mon people, considering how good of a first daughter she was compared to Bush twins, let her have this without people complaining about it.
I think the air traffic restrictions are JUST FINE!!! If there were no restrictions, the MEDIA would be flying anything necessary over the wedding site just to get pictures!! LEAVE CHELSEA ALONE AND ALLOW HER "HER" DAY!!! The media did nothing but make fun of her incessantly when her father was President – she was just like every other gangly teenager and she was constantly ostracized. I hope all goes well and Chelsea's wedding is just as she wants (and by the way, deserves to have) without the interference of the MEDIA!!! Best Wishes from North Dakota Chelsea and Marc!!,
This is the problem with the US these days. How much money went into this and why are we treating a normal citizen to so many exceptions. If I were the one to be getting married and I requested this on "security reasons" the FAA would probably laugh at me.
We have more things to worry about in this country than Chelsea Clinton's wedding. I think it is nice that she is getting married, but please give her the privacy she deserves and stop getting into individual's person lives.
This is a Clintonian family tradition. Remember Bubba's infamous haircuts on the tarmac in Air Force 1 at LAX while everyone (on the ground and in the air) had to wait for over an hour?
This is not news. In fact, this isn't interesting. It isn't even something for right wingers to get upset about... so I guess I don't see the point in posting it. Unfortunately, I took the time to read it.
