Obama takes on '24/7 media cycle'

(CNN) – President Obama wasted no time in an interview on ABC's The View to pounce on the media for providing a culture that "loves conflict."

"The things that the media may focus on are not necessarily the things I focus on," Obama, the first sitting president to visit a daytime television show, said. "I have to sign letters to parents of children who have been killed in Afghanistan or the husbands or wives of people who have been killed in battle and that gives you a sense of perspective that is just different from what is going on on cable TV on any given day."

The president highlighted the recent Shirley Sherrod controversy, which seemingly drown out his major legislative accomplishments such as the Wall Street reform bill becoming law.

Sherrod, a former U.S. Agriculture Department employee, was forced to resign after a right-wing blogger showed an edited video clip of her making controversial remarks on race. However, it was later determined that her speech focused on how the incident changed her mind about racial relations.

The president, who has spoken with Sherrod by phone, hit back at how the story was covered.

"What I do think happened in that situation is that a 24/7 media cycle that's always looking for controversy and often times doesn't get to the facts first, generated a phony controversy," he said. "A lot of people overreacted, including people in my administration."

The lesson to be drawn from all of this? "Let's not assume the worst about other people; let's make sure we get the facts straight," Obama said.

The photo proves once again that Conservative females are hot and liberal women are plain butt-ugly.

What he really is saying is that don't Focus on how I am assaulting this nation.
Don't pay attention to how everyone around me is a revolutionary, don't pay any attention to the people and news organizations that are exposing me and my intentions.

Only watch , read and listen to MY approved list of media.

America you will lose your country as you know it if you don't stand up today and let them know you will not be fooled again.

America keep the media accountable. We are very close to the point of no return if we are not there already............

Originally I had my doubts about the President going on the View but after watching it I was impressed, he did the right thing going to where women are.

Another love fest for the Messiah. With the exception of tougher questions by Elisabeth Hasselback, which he danced around in true Obama style, this was a softball.

Honesty and candor about complicated issues discussed by our President – available to the whole world – while he used real words and complete sentences that every one could understand.

I love this "hopey changey" thingy.

Mr President ,with all due respect, if you were to pull our troops out of Afghanistan maybe you wouldn't have to be concerned with signing letters to families of soldiers that died fighting in that war.!!!

This coming from a guy who tried as hard as any other Democrat to stir up media conflict for the previous administration. Remember the cries from him and Hillary Clinton that the Iraq war was unwinnable? What goes around comes around.

It's about time that President Obama talk about the media and how they run with so many things that are just not true. The American people really have to work hard to find new as it should be. I for one have to flick and flick the channels then think and decide what to believe and what sounds like garbage. This is a serious problem in today's society. When I was growing up you would be able to take what any journalist said to the bank, now most of what journalist say – we need to take to the nearest DUMP! And that is a sad thing.

What an idiot, if its in the news it is because it matters to people, whether it be Tea Party People protesting your spending, or Voiceing their opinion to Enforce Immigration Laws, or to stop the oil from spilling in the Gulf. It matters but if your to stupid to understand that, then we wont have to worry about you in 2012.

Check out the body language! Intelligent women LISTENING to an intelligent man!

We've all noticed for quite some time now how the media is intent on feeding the divisiveness in our country. They, led by Fox Newsand closely followed by used-to-be beacons of journalism like CNN, are more intent on ratings and sensationalism than in healing our country from the inside out. It is pathetically shameful, and irresponsible.

I hope the President continues to use venues that give him huge access to average American men and women, like the View, so that his message of hope, his accomplishments, and his wholehearted commitment to heal and repair America do not get lost in this unprecedented media and potlitically created climate of intolerance and stupidity.

    Obama 2012. Period.

"...let's make sure we get the facts straight," Obama said. As usual, the Republicans will respond, "No, don't confuse us with the facts."
