The entire town has been sworn to secrecy, but many storefront windows bear signs saying "Congratulations Marc & Chelsea" and similar messages.
"You could make a case that this is the most significant thing to happen in Rhinebeck since Washington's army drove the British out of Rhinebeck back in the 1700s," said Jim Langon, editor of the Hudson Valley News newspaper, who was the first to report that the wedding would take place there.
The parents of the bride, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Clinton, were seen arriving at a formal dinner at the Beekman Arms Inn in Rhinebeck on Friday night.
Also attending were former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, presidential adviser Vernon Jordan and numerous young couples presumed to be friends of the bride and groom.
"This is the wedding of the century," wedding planner Tatiana Byron said.

The bridegroom's father is as corrupt as the bride's parents. The merger of two crime families. And they are spending as much on this show as most American's earn in a lifetime.
Good luck to these two and may God bless their lives. Unfortunately, the parents of these young people are a discusssting lot. Can you imagine a Presindent ( Clinton ) fondling a 21 year lold intern? What a slimy guy he is. Hillary, smart like her husband but useless in her job. She has not accomplished one thing. In fact our foreign policy stinks.
Now the grooms father has spent 5 years in jail for corruption. This guy is no less a scum. So there we have it, Americans can only see money, No class , no dignity just a lot of money. Sick , sick, sick.
I believe it's awesome that Chelsea Clinton is spending so much money on her wedding (whether it's a million or three million) because that money is going into the economy, into the florists, the caterers, the waiters, the band, the wedding planner, the influx of visitors to the local businesses, air carriers, limousine companies, etc. If we all had a million or more to spend, the economy would turn around asap.
I don't remember the media going gaga over Jenna Bush's wedding. Yet another example of media bias. Our media is enthralled with the Chelsea wedding because its the Democratic Clinton family. As long as the story is about a Democratic wedding and not a Republican, our media will be more interested in it.
With Bill as ex-President and Hilliary as Secretary of State, they know the dire needs of the people of this country and countries around the world. I have little respect for people who spend lavishly when there are so many people in need of basic necessities.
One corrupt political family hooking up with another corrupt political family. One of the fathers was convicted and did seven years in prison for wire fraud, bank fraud, and mail fraud and the other father was one of the most corrupt governors and presidents in U.S. history. Is it really any wonder that these these two wound up together?

Just a note to the media folks who are saying that Rhinebeck is in upstate NY. Sorry, but it is not upstate. I grew up in what really consists of UPSTATE NY, in northern Rennselaer County. The boundary between upstate and downstate is considered Kingston/Poughkeepsie, where Metro North ends. So there media.
I just heard some comments by viewers who are appalled by the appearance of extravagant spending for the wedding.
This kind of spending is exactly what the economy needs!
People don't seem to understand economics.
Consider that the wedding costs are going to vendors, from the flowers to the food service, there are probably hundreds of people working at the wedding, to include full hotels & restaurants that all benefit economically.
The spending on this weeding will trickle down to thousands of people down to the farmer who grows the food they'll eat.

As long as someone has the money and is willing to pay the bills for the wedding, let them do it. It is creating jobs that otherwise would not be there.
Why shouldn't Chelsea Clinton have a lavish wedding during these hard economic times? The Clintons are not having bad economic times.
