Washington (CNN) - A majority of Americans want the Senate to confirm Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, according to a new poll. But a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national survey also indicates that there is a large partisan divide over Kagan's nomination.
Fifty-four percent of people questioned say they would like to see senators vote in favor of Kagan serving on the high court, with 34 percent opposed.

"That gives Kagan virtually the same amount of support that the public gave the two most recent Supreme Court nominees - Sonia Sotomayor and Samuel Alito - just days before they were confirmed by the Senate," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.
The survey's Tuesday release comes as the full Senate is scheduled to begin deliberations on Kagan's nomination.
According to the poll, more than three quarters of Democrats say Kagan should be confirmed by lawmakers, with half of Republicans opposed to the confirmation. Forty-eight percent of independents favor Senate confirmation of Kagan, with four in ten opposed.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted July 16-21, with 1,018 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

Another democrat poll in favor. How Shocking!
Why not. Let's keep the balance. I may seem to always post conservative but I understand that we need the liberal folks to keep conservatives from going over the top and conservatives to keep liberals in check as well. Funny how we dislike but need each others views.
Just do it.
