Senate to vote on $27 billion in aid for desperate states

New York (CNNMoney.com) – Senate Democrats are once again trying to push through a bill that would send $27 billion to needy states.

The measure contains $16 billion in additional Medicaid money and $10 billion in education funding to prevent teacher layoffs. State officials have been desperately lobbying their representatives, saying they need the money to shore up their budgets. President Obama weighed in Monday, asking lawmakers to pass the bill.

Lawmakers will take a procedural vote on Wednesday. It needs 60 votes to pass, meaning some Republicans would have to cross the aisle. If it passes this hurdle, a final vote could come late in the week, just before the Senate is scheduled to recess for the long August break.

This is just wrong. Why should the states who have done things ficscally responsible (almost exclusively red states) have to bail out the fiscally irresponsible (almost exclusively blue states)?

Is it the same reason that the successful are being penalized by confiscatory taxation to support the unwilling?

So much for the founder's idea of what a REPUBLIC should be.

Where is the list of Republican governors who oppose the measure?

All this money does is fund corrupt, immoral unions, does not really help in anything except carryng on a bankrupting system that the liberals favor. It is payback for the votes they think the unions deliver to them so they can become richer, more inept and more immoral and more corrupt.
