The most negative campaign season ever?

(CNN) – With the 2010 campaign season in full swing, some analysts say this year's elections could bring some of the most negative political ads we've ever seen.

This would be a good time for independent candidates to jump in while the republicans and democrats are attacking each other .

what do the republicans have to loose nothing, the problem what have they done to help the american voter but say no to everything that was put in the congress and the senate even healthcare for our american citizens that need it from 9-11 and to try to use that vote for a political pawn to pass another provision to gain some political points with there voters on the back of real americans that cared for there fellow citizen is the lowest form of scum that has ever been seen

In light of the condition of our economy, even after President Obama's massive spending to fix it, "negative" (factual) campaigning directed at his administration and its abetting Democrats is certainly to be expected.
One hopes that reporting of Democratic failures will not be minimized as "negative campaigning."

I can believe it. in my district, the rethugs are not only lying about us Democrats, they're lying about each other. guess it's such an ingrained habit, they can't even control it when they're campaigning against each other. guess these 'good Christians' never read that commandment about bearing false witness against thy neighbor. don't recall it having an asterisk and 'does not apply during political campaigns.' :-)

Well – to me, it's still the NEGATIVE RepubliCAN'Ts fighting each other now in a NEGATIVE way!! They have NO BASE and are scattered everywhere – trying to prove points that are NULL and VOID!!!

Then you have the Democrats – finally – fighting back the NEGATIVE fear tactics the RepubliCAN'Ts are using and trying to make the American people believe. WELL, it's about time Democrats!!!

So with all of that in mind – yes, the campaign this year is NEGATIVE!!!

I would expect it to be very negative simply because the dems are in so much danger of losing contol of Congress. It is not that easy to give up power especially when you contol the purse strings.Congress was never meant by our founding leaders to be a full time job with all the perks these politicans have.Once they are elected it's almost impossible to get them out.

Only because the Desperate Republicans, who have ALWAYS BEEN NASTY, are so very aware that they have NOTHING to run on that is legitimate

They have not done anything positive for this country in the past ten years

What else do they have to fight with, except lies, negativity, racism, fear, and piles upon piles of bull poop

Hard not to be negative when just about every headline about the current inept, corrupt administration is about the union toady president blasting someone who does not agree with him. But then again negativity is a liberal trait. Keep enjoying the hope/change and the "summer of prosperity."

Why wouldn't it be the most negative campaign season ever? Obama and the Democrats have done nothing positive?

Since day one, they have undermined our Constitution and been shoving Socialism down our throats. And that's why the November elections will be a landslide victory for the conservative movement.

Wake up people! Vote American, vote Republican.

President Obama could walk into a room and simply say "Good Morning," and the right wingers, in Glenn Beck fashion, would foam at the mouth and declare "Now the big government is telling us what kind of morning to have, and take away our rights to choose our own kind of morning. It's a socialist muslim plot to destroy America and take away all of our freedoms by redistributing good cheer. And did we mention his middle name? And that he is not really American?"

It's so odd that to the backward right wing "progressive" is a bad word. Think about that.

Oh yes, it will be. We are suffering through the two worst administrations in a while between Bush and Obama. You can thank the international bankers/corporations that these men and their other lackeys work for.

Have you noticed how much more hateful Americans are to one another? It doesn't seem like there's much politeness and gentlemanliness going on any more. Our politicians would rather kill an American than the enemy Mexican drug warlords who are killing our people in the SW.

If they're incumbents they hay had better watch their business. We the American people are fed up with all the jive coming out of Washington and the incumbents are already on the chopping block. For the ones running they sure way to not get elected is to start that kind of stuff. WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR IS WHAT YOU WILL DO? AND THEN HOW YOU'RE GOING TO DO IT? WE DON'T TAKE TO ANY MORE TALK ABOUT CHANGING AMERICA OR IT'S CONSTITUTION. WE DON'T CARE FOR ACLU'S ARE PRO GUN CONTROL. CONTROL OF THE BORDER AND THE TELLING OF MEXICO TO GO TO HADES. AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL NO MOSQUES BUILT ON SACRED GROUND OF WHERE AMERICANS HAVE DIED.

A long time ago politicians realized that the best way to win elections is to make the other guy look worse than theselves. In other words, vote for the lesser of 2 evils. That's how sad our political landscape has gotten. When was the last time you entheusiastically voted FOR someone instead of voting because against sa person you didn't want to get into office?

I suppose this is just another exercise in futility; but When are people on both sides of the political divide going to remember they were elected TO HELP PEOPLE, and not some PATHETIC HATCHET JOB on whoever dares stand opposed to their ideology? I know; the day after HELL FREEZES OVER !!

I have already seen a few, and don't doubt it will get filthier, but "ever" is a long time. The Cleveland/ Blaine campaign was plentifully scabrous, and one of the arguments against female suffrage was that ladies shouldn't be exposed to such political dirt. The novelty is the ease with which apparent records of events that never happened can be fabricated and disseminated, right along with subliminal messaging. The only defense against increasingly sophisticated propaganda is increasing sophisication in first suspecting, then detetecting it

Of course its negative. Its what the public wants. Entire industries have been built on nothing more then negative broadcasting 24-7. Rush has a 110 million dollar contract, hannity, beck....these guys have catapulted to the top of mega wealth for doing nothing more then spewing hate and negative garbage.
The "people" want to be fed their raw meat so they can satisfy their hunger for it and these guys and most all the politicians running know it and so it is not longer civil debate..its anger, accusation, hate, bigotry and a relentless pumping of this garbage into the stomachs that squeal for it. Its actually like watching a bird vomit up its stomach contents to its chicks. They love it although it is disturbing to watch.
