State, city job cuts taint recovery

New York (CNNMoney.com) - State and municipal worker layoffs are playing a bigger role in dragging down the economy, economists say, pointing to July national unemployment figures released Friday.

Public sector job losses, not counting government losses from temporary positions collecting federal census data, rose to 48,000 in July – the biggest loss in the sector in a year.

With so many states and cities facing budget crunches and running short on stimulus dollars to plug the holes, a new round of layoffs began to kick in July, when many governments begin their fiscal year.

I would be interested in knowing how many of these state, county and city governments are controlled by Republicans. Why would they be facing a budget crunch since they have all the answers? Why not just cut taxes? That would certainly create jobs and fill their coffers, Right?

Why are states, city and country governments going broke? Simple, they are now having to pay off the union retirees who have outlandish pension plans paid for by private contributions(taxes)and stimulus plans. Each one needs to file bankruptsy and then they can renegotiate the union contracts and void the current overpayment of union members and their pensions.

Things are going to get a lot worse before they improve. The revenues that would keep the city that i live in are not there to prevent cuts in services.Everthing that has been done has and now the only thing left to cut is jobs.Unfortunately, the state is in the same shape and there's nothing that they can do to help the localities.

Ok, this is another article proving Obama is a Bald Face Liar! Just yesterday Obama was "Calling Out Bush" claiming Bush wrecked our economy, while Obama ignored the nearly last two years of his own horrendous distruction of economies from printing phony money to bail out Unions, take over the automotive industries, our nations banks, and bailing out AIG who is yet to pay back one penny. Obama lies when he says he has "created or saved" one million jobs. Else, why did you write this article explaining increased unemployment. CNBC is claiming more people are now unemployed than at any time since the Great Depression! Get wise America, vote the Democrats out now, or find yourself setting a home wondering why you just got fired!

Where is Obama the governor, Obama the mayor, Obama the city manager, Obama the oil well plugger. At some point people have to understand, this is the United State(s) as in everyone got to pull their weight. If a country's economy is so damaged that it facing condition worst than the great depression, it's going to take a lot to recover.
Considering how much of our manufacturing has been shipped overseas in the past years, it's going to take a whole lot more to recover.

That just the facts for the politically unbiased, people who want solutions and not more political garbage.

Things are really falling into place for the Republicans. They have killed off any further stimulus help to the states and filibustered the small business relief act. Put it together with the rest of their obstructionism, and nearly 1 million people with lose their jobs before next January. Nice work Repubs! If this doesn't kill the recovery, or at least slow it down enough to get more of you elected, nothing will!

This should please the Republicans very much. They have done or not done everything possible to stall or stop the recovery.
    They want "NO" recovery.
Can't wait until the get what they've earned in November – a boot out the door.
