Washington (CNN) - The House of Representatives will be back in session this week to take up a $26 billion bill designed, in part, to help avoid teacher layoffs.
The House will huddle on Monday, but members aren't expected to vote on the measure until Tuesday.
"As millions of children prepare to go back to school - many in just a few days - the House will act quickly to approve this legislation once the Senate votes," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement last week.

I thought the leader said we "turned the corner ". The "stimulus is working " . So why are states broke? Dems have had congress for almost 4 years . Must be Bush ! Every time obama plays golf , Bush attacks something else !
Couldn't they have done this before they left for holidays even if it meant staying around a day or two longer. How much did it cost to bring everyone back and then send them home again. You can call this what you want, a needless expense, a waste of money, a Pelose minim stimulus pkg; I call it stupid.
We need more teachers..NOT layoffs...Come on Americans, speak up..Look at our country..Where are all our"good" doctors coming from these days..They aren't being produced in our country...We certainly aren't the leaders anymore..So sad what greed can do to a country!!!
Make them stay until they pass a jobs bill and immigration reform.
What we need to do this November is give this congress permanent vacation.
I do not care about what party you belong to! "We the People” got screwed again this time we need to make all of them pay with their jobs.
Guess what Congress "You Are Fired!"
This fall vote "No to incumbents"
Fire All incumbents!
This is so laughable, like the libs actually care about children. If they cared so much they would get rid of their ties with the NEA. That lazy, corrupt, slimy organizatin will take Viagra over children anytime. As long as they can sit on their butts, not teach and protect aganist giving the job to those that actually can.
Hang onto your wallets, people, the Great Spenders are back in Washington.
Pelosi stinks.
So you're telling me that there isn't enough unused money in the $421B (of the original the $787B) stimulus left overs that was created to save the jobs of teachers and firemen...?
Democrat spending has little to do with 'helping Americans' and more to do with 'buying votes in November'. What is good for the democrats isn't always what is good for America.
One last efforrt by Pelosi and the Dems to buy votes in the November election.
This one is certainly transparent – can see right through it.
"Leargets are too small for me Pelosi" is the greatest spender of other peoples money as a Speaker of the House ever. Hopefully she be out of that position in November and could transition into Interior Design.
May the republican's rot in hell.
Here goes Bobblehead/Plastic Pelosi, again. This excuse of a woman has no shame.
