Premiere date set for Palin reality show

Palin's reality show will begin in mid November.
Palin's reality show will begin in mid November.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin's much anticipated reality show will hit the airwaves next November, just days after the midterm elections when the political world begins to look toward the 2012 presidential race.

"Sarah Palin's Alaska" – the show that has been billed as a "Planet Earth-style" documentary about the state – will premiere at 9 p.m. November 14 on TLC, network president Eileen O'Neill said at the Television Critics Association press tour, according to the trade publication Broadcast and Cable.

Little is known about the show besides the fact it is being spearheaded by "Survivor" creator Mark Burnett.

A Palin source told CNN in April that the show "is not going to be focused on her family, or in her house, or in Wasilla."

Instead, it appears the state of Alaska will be as much the focus of the program as the former vice presidential nominee.

"It's become clear it takes a special individual to thrive in Alaska," O'Neill said.

Variety reported earlier this year Palin stands to receive upwards of $1 million an episode.

    oh no, Mister Bill!!
I will definitely be tuning into a DIFFERENT channel that night. I will not be watching anything that could in any remote way, be associated with her.
Still can't figure out why John McCain chose her....obviously wasn't a lot of checking goin' on when "she" was chosen as his running mate.

It's not that I'm a Palin hater or that it bothers me that she is making money. It's just that she quit her job as governor of the state, yet here she is with this show. Aren't Alaskans kind of embarrassed about her? I know I sure am, and I'm certainly not alone.
No, she isn't very bright. No, she really doesn't know what Americans want. No, she isn't very coherent, but she seems to appeal to those that want easy, shallow answers to very complex issues.
This kind of appeal is nothing new. There have always been those that long for a simpler, nostalgic time when our troubles were few and we trusted our leaders. Those days are behind us now. We're in a global society now and attempting to turn back the clock is not only counter-productive, it's impossible.
All Sarah Palin and her ilk are attempting to do is attempting to convince people what to be afraid of and who to blame for things. And every time she opens her mouth or types on a facebook page it is clear that she is not the least bit interested in how to fix real problems in our country. Every time she says something shallow like "We need to take our country back!" I'm reminded of just how ridiculous this person is and how in the heck anyone can buy the stuff that she spews out.
She is really a very sad commentary about the state of our politics today.

    Dear BJ,
So you think Mrs. Palin should be left alone from all the haters? In my opinion, she is a first-class hater who uses her "Christian" values to show complete disrespect and a true lack of patriotism. There is nothing nice or even remotely helpful about all her negative comments and bashing. It totally galls me that someone who claims to follow Christ-like teachings would act the way she does. Nevertheless, I do not "hate" her. I actually feel sorry for her willingness to "believe" her own press and think she is doing something good for mankind. Yes – she is smart to figure out that her spectacle can make her and her family lots and lots of money – so she can better identify with the "common folk."

  9. False conspiracy fears are GOP Taliban tactics

Thanks to TLC, she will be able to attack the constitution and campaign for big business at the same time.

Ahh, TLC. I already boycott that channel thanks to the Gosselin debacle. I guess someone's got to be the bottom of the broadcasting barrel.

Looking forward to boycotting TLC and Eileen O'Neil for their poor taste. Why would anyone want to watch an anti-environmental scumbag showcase such a beautiful state. .

How can it be a Reality Show and "like Planet Earth" at the same time? Planet Earth was a superb nature documentary from the BBC. Realty Shows (apart from the phrase being an oxymoron as they are usually anything but) are garbage spewed out usually by FOX to amuse the ignorant and the brain damaged.

There is an awful lot of effort being undertaken to sway and manipulate people’s thinking, much of it with total dishonesty and even showy theatrics. Consider: Rush Limbaugh’s ranting and raving, Glenn Beck’s yelling and screaming, Sarah Palin’s cutely presented scripted subterfuge, Pat Buchanan’s pretentious inferences, John Boehner’s arrogant belligerence, Mitch McConnell’s exaggerated accusations, Jon Kyl’s misleading misrepresentations and more, including from the Tea Partiers, other 3rd party conservative groups and Republican supporters, all with their aggressive, organized and sponsored misinformation, attempting to use creative criticism, scare tactics and appeals to biases, prejudices and emotional attachments. These really are recognizable beyond any efforts to counter them because of their aggressive and deceptive nature, just wanting to excite quick and totally emotional responses and to prevent any objective and rational thought. Any decisions thus made are very apt not to be in people’s best interests otherwise the aggressive and deceptive behavior wouldn’t be necessary.

We have seen this effort in the past and it could be called Karl Rove’s tactics as were repeatedly used by Bush-Cheney. People really need to calmly take the time to see through these creative and organized efforts, to recognize and reject the deceptive con aimed to manipulate and control public opinion, to see the truth and to objectively and rationally come to decisions that are in their own best interests. While we still have the continuing problems that confront us we need to rationally recognize that: first, there are those diligently working on resolutions with real progress but it is just going to take more time; second, that the Republicans have no actual solutions, literally nada, and only criticisms aimed at supporting their regaining control and to allow them to continue their total concentration on their political ambitions, once again at all costs and without conscience. This country just can’t withstand returning to ‘more of the same’, to what would be taking a step backward to what got us all of the problems and to undoing any progress achieved to date. Objective reasoning is what is called for now so that we don’t ‘cut off our nose to spite our face’, so that we are not manipulated to make rash decisions against our own best interests.

On the lighter side, at least it's not one of those home-improvement shows.

It's gonna take a "special kind of individual" to survive any more of Sarah Palin. Can't the media see what kind of shameless self-promoter she and her dysfunctional family really are? And how much free political advertising can one person suck up without violating FEC rules???

Wil she still bring all conversations/information back to an attack on our President? If not, then she probably won't have much to say on her reality show. Her main claim to fam consists of making negative and attempted satirical comments about President Obama. Lets hope the United States will soon get tired of Sarah and allow her to quietly slip back to her family so she can be the mother her children seem to desperately need. She has taken great advantage of her "15 minutes of fame".

This is getting one minute she's the best republican out there now after selling her book to make money she wants to do a reality show. Yeah, she really is representing the republican party. This is a person who has no knowledge of politics and states what she is told or repeats what someone has already stated. This is one person who want watch unless she is butt naked.

How disappointing that TLC and its parent network The Discovery Channel, which have long upheld values of conservation, environmental protection, animal welfare, and SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS, would now stoop so low as to pay millions to a woman and a political agenda that adamantly opposes and vilifies those very values.

I will NOT be watching this show, or any other program on the Discovery network of channels, until they right this heinous mistake of a decision.
