President Barack Obama on Tuesday blasted top Republicans in the House of Representatives for characterizing a $26 billion bill designed in part to reduce teacher layoffs as a special interest measure.
This "should not be a partisan issue," he said. Teacher layoffs "should not be a Democratic problem or a Republican problem. It's an American problem."

I'm a teacher and let me tell that school districts have plenty of money- it just gets siphoned off by the professional bureacrats in central office who don't do a thing to work with kids in the classroom. Fire all administrators and let the academic teachers take over and run the place!
Don't let this clown pull the wool over your eyes. There is plenty of money left from the stimulus package to pay for this, he just wants more money from your wallet to give to the over paid under worked teachers. This jerk is such a lier he should be thrown in jail and have the door welded shut. What a complete failure.
The state aid bill that would save teachers' jobs is totally paid for and wouldn't add a dime to the debt. HOWEVER, if the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of the country aren't allowed to expire that will add more than $700 billion to the debt. Inexplicably, the Republicans in Congress are opposing the state aid bill and are insisting that the Bush tax cuts be renewed. I defy any Republican to justify that position.
It it was really going to well deserved teachers that would be one thing, but Obama is plugging for his Union people. give me a break! Obama owned by the Unions.
The GOP wants us to remain in a recession for as long as possilbe....EVIL PEOPLE!
The GOP got us into this mess, and want to remain in this mess!
He gives what, a trillion dollars to Wall Street banks......maybe Obama should have used that money to bailout our school system rather than ensure a few bankers didn't lose out on their bonuses
