Democrats fire back at Quayle over Obama snub

Washington (CNN) - Top Democrats are firing back at House candidate Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, for running a new campaign ad that slashes President Obama by calling him "the worst president in history."

Brad Woodhouse, spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, told CNN that the candidate for a U.S. House seat from Arizona has no standing to judge Obama.

"The son of the worst vice president ever may think he has some wisdom on the job performance of political leaders, but if he thinks a president whose actions have saved the country from a second Great Depression, reformed a broken health care system and protected consumers from the risk and greed of Wall Street merits such mention, his analysis is only slightly less ridiculous than his candidacy for public office is," said Woodhouse.

Quayle, the 33-year-old son of the former vice president, is one of 10 Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for the third district House seat of retiring Rep. John Shadegg. The Republican-leaning district primarily encompasses Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs.

In the new 30-second spot Quayle declares: "My generation will inherit a weakened country. Drug cartels in Mexico, tax cartels in DC. What's happened to America? I love Arizona. I was raised right. Someone needs to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place."

Yeah, Benny-boy. Taxation started 1/20/09. The Mexican drug cartels started 1/20/09. Deficit spending started 1/20/09. The 9/11 terrorist attacks happened 1/20/09.

The presidency of George W Bush never happened. Afghanistan – Obama's war. Iraq – Obama's war. The 2007 recession that we are still in – Obama's recession.

It would be funny how boldly the neocons rewrite history if there weren't so many low information voters who lap it all up. Like the recent poll showing that 45% of Americans (ben quayle included, no doubt) that the TARP was an Obama bailout (for you neocons posting, it was in September, 2008, and George W. Bush was president).

How can Brad Woodhouse criticize Quale's comment with equal lack of judgement in his own cticizim of Dan Quale? It is all individual perception and history will judge Obama. Mr Woodhouse cannot credit Obama for saving this country...the numbers don't support the comment!

Ben Qualye was a sex contributor under a pseudonym for a sexy web site. This proves that he is a fine example of family values. Because of his prurient interest he is more likely to frequently engage in the requisite behavior in order to grow his own family. Arizona would be lucky to have such an intelligent, accomplished and experienced statesman. His lifelong Arizona ties gives us confidence that his only interest is in serving the people of Arizona.

Anne: William Henry Harrison died 41 days into his term. It would be hard to justify that as the worst president ever.

However, I submit to you for consideration the only president who lied the country into a war. With the blood of 4,500 American military on his hands, among countless other lies, acts of incompetence, war profiteering, and political appointments (remember Brownie?) where the only knowledge required was that GWB is a great president.

George W. Bush. The worst president, by far, ever.

Lets not forget his Ad saying he wants to raise his family in AZ. Shows Bennie and 2 kids. Problem is: the kids aren't his. He's childless. Just rent-a-kids. What a LIAR

perhaps he should ask Murphy Brown what her opinion is on who the worst president could be....I mean his own father seemed to think that this fictional television character was a real person. And in response to

    @Dale....

surely you jest as far right as the GOP has gone and you still want to call them Republicans as well I take it. I know to your kind "liberal" is a bad word but right now neocons are making conservative even WORST!

Actually, the title of "Worst VP of the US" should be held by Watler Mondale, who was the 42nd VP of the US under President Carter. Everybody forgets about Mondale though because Carter was such a disaster.

It's nice to see the DNC trying to rewrite history. President Obama has not saved us from a Second Great Depression, he's only made the coming financial collapse WORSE by not dealing with it NOW. See the CBO report issued August 27th on increased risk of financial collapse under current spending patterns. Obama hasn't reformed a broken health care system, he's broken it for everybody, and will collapse health care in this country into a 'single-payer' system which will be inefficient, slow and destroy medical investment.. And finally, Obama has destroyed the engine of credit in the US economy through the Bank bill, and taxed the middle class by adding Bank Taxes, which will invariable be passed onto bank customers.

Way to go DNC spokesman Woodhouse, you're 0 for 3 in the lies department. I think it's about time you got out of Washington politics before the facts actually catch up with you.

    "I was raised right."

I believe that shoudl read "I was raised to the right." It's just further proof that the bigotry, religio-fascism, ideological nutjobbery, etc., is all in the upbringing. If people would stop raising bigotted, racist, xenophobic, fundamentalist fools who self-declare their moral superiority to the rest of the nation and seek to impose their personal views on everyone else, well, we'd all be playing happily together in the kiddy pool instead of wondering why there's a sudden warm current drifting over from the general direction of the kid wearing the tinfoil diapers under his Ayn Rand underoos.

    Worst President in history? Really?

Unless Ben can list each and every President from memory, and his metric for where they're placed on the scale from best to worst, then Ben is simply making stuff up and blowing it out his rectum.

Typical Republican who celebrates his own willful ignorance and stupidity with his facility at hate speech.

@All of America: What is your source for the statement that Obama is the worst president is felt by the majority of Americans? If you are going by polls, GWB had far higher disapproval numbers.

You are a moron, and you make stuff up.

Young Mr. Quayle's entitled to his opinion....which is shared by many. Dems trying to squelch dissent, as usual.
As for Veeps....I'd think a few quotes from the current Veep, Mr. Malaprop, might be evidence that Dan Quayle wasn't so bad, after all.

Sure, Obama's the worst ever. That is, if your only sources of history are Glenn Beck and Newt Gingrich. Then it makes total sense. If you have a working frontal lobe, however, then you realize that Ben Quayle is as big a moron as his father, a product of braindead nepotism who would be bagging my groceries if it wasn't for the silver spoon placed in his slack-jawed mouth. Ben, leave the politics to the big kids. Go back to writing kinky things about Scottsdale.

Jeff Jackson, Ala. – sorry, but if Quayle hadn't been connected with the sexy website, then no media could have found it. It isn't the media who was connected with the website, it was Quayle who admits the story is correct. Don't blame the media for reporting the truth, that is their job.
Bush Sr didn't get reelected because the majority of Americans – yes even Conservative and Liberals did not like or respect Quayle. It wasn't because he wasn't bright, but no one with any sense or manners or courtesy goes into a school and points out a so called misspelling. But, instead of hurting the kids, he made himself look stupid and small and obviously Ben is no better.

Why is the news media even giving this guy the time of day? If his last name weren't Quayle I bet his comments wouldn't even make the local newspaper.
