Democrats fire back at Quayle over Obama snub

Washington (CNN) - Top Democrats are firing back at House candidate Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, for running a new campaign ad that slashes President Obama by calling him "the worst president in history."

Brad Woodhouse, spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, told CNN that the candidate for a U.S. House seat from Arizona has no standing to judge Obama.

"The son of the worst vice president ever may think he has some wisdom on the job performance of political leaders, but if he thinks a president whose actions have saved the country from a second Great Depression, reformed a broken health care system and protected consumers from the risk and greed of Wall Street merits such mention, his analysis is only slightly less ridiculous than his candidacy for public office is," said Woodhouse.

Quayle, the 33-year-old son of the former vice president, is one of 10 Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for the third district House seat of retiring Rep. John Shadegg. The Republican-leaning district primarily encompasses Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs.

In the new 30-second spot Quayle declares: "My generation will inherit a weakened country. Drug cartels in Mexico, tax cartels in DC. What's happened to America? I love Arizona. I was raised right. Someone needs to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place."

You may say whatever you want but his father is not running and Bush is not running, and the wonderful reader of tele-prompters is definitely so far a failure by all measures!

This man should not be allowed to run for public office. The GOP is full of half-witted delusional power-hungry narcissists who prey on the weak-minded. This is just another example of the GOP's lack of credibility and inability to make rational thoughts.

I'd be willing to bet that he like his daddy cannot spell either. Wow Arizona first you try to convince America that the President was not born in America, then you tried to kick every non white out of your state, and now you got a Quayle trying to represent you? How about we just sell that patch of desert called Arizona back to Mexico and cut our losses. Geez!

Sounds more to me like Mr. Quayle is wise beyond his years and his detractors are typical elitist Democrats that support all the lies while Americans are aware that we are getting closer to a Great Depression than ever before. Go Quayle!

Ben Quayle is ridiculously unqualified, but will probably win becasue his dad's friends donated lots of money. The White House should just ignore this clown, publicity only helps him.

Spiro Agnew trumps Dan Quayle as the worst VP, at least, in my memory. Neverthess, there is a point to be made there. Giving Obama credit, however, for "saving" the nation from another Great Depression, for the health care reforms (that most Americans didn't want and we don't know the result of) and protecting consumers from greed while credit continues to be impossible to get even with our own money that the Fed gave them, is premature if not absurd. Obama has not demonstrated the ability to solve our problems, only to revive the ideas of the Roosevelt era, that remain very controversial today.. Progressive should mean looking ahead but too often it means looking back. We need a new approach and/or new leadership.

This Quayle makes his father look like a rocket scientist and a founding father. I wonder if "being raised right" included studying his dictionary to learn how to spell correctly?

First timers always have to rely on their name, striking lines/tirades or (in a few cases) past accomplishments and feats outside the political spectrum. Mr. Quayle obviously has NOT the third so he's relying deeply on the first and mostly on the second...
    Arizona deserves better...

Excuse me? Democrats say Ben Quayle has "no standing" to judge Obama? What arrogance.

Quayle has as much "standing" as any other citizen of the United States.

Quayle's candidacy for public office is far less ridiculous than that of Obama's candidacy for president of the United States.

Democrats: Do not be so easily disctracted!!! What's wrong with you all?

Don't let either the Republicans, and certainly not the Press looking for another day's fodder, take you off message or make you waste your energies and mojo on nonsense like something idiotic!

It's to bad that responding comments will not get back to this so-called expert on whose the worst at anything. Before calling our President the worst ever, he should have looked inward and then bit his tongue. Hello, do you know who your father is?

This country is so messed up that we can hardly call ourselves a nation any longer. Depending on which party you're in and what position you are running for, you will say anything, do anything and em brasses yourself such as this idiot son of Dan Quayle has done.

I would note that Woodhouse stated that Obama "reformed" not fixed the health care system. I guess whether it's any better remains to be seen.
