Washington (CNN) - Top Democrats are firing back at House candidate Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, for running a new campaign ad that slashes President Obama by calling him "the worst president in history."
Brad Woodhouse, spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, told CNN that the candidate for a U.S. House seat from Arizona has no standing to judge Obama.
"The son of the worst vice president ever may think he has some wisdom on the job performance of political leaders, but if he thinks a president whose actions have saved the country from a second Great Depression, reformed a broken health care system and protected consumers from the risk and greed of Wall Street merits such mention, his analysis is only slightly less ridiculous than his candidacy for public office is," said Woodhouse.
Quayle, the 33-year-old son of the former vice president, is one of 10 Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for the third district House seat of retiring Rep. John Shadegg. The Republican-leaning district primarily encompasses Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs.
In the new 30-second spot Quayle declares: "My generation will inherit a weakened country. Drug cartels in Mexico, tax cartels in DC. What's happened to America? I love Arizona. I was raised right. Someone needs to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place."
I wonder if Ben Quayle knows ANYTHING about history. I could be wrong, but he seems to fit a certain stereotype: Filthy rich kid, spends his college days planning frat parties, clueless about the real world, and thinks he’s entitled to public office and superior to people who have actually had to work and study, like Obama. Wake up America. These are the real people who are destroying this country.
I'd be willing to bet he can't name 10 presidents but he seems t oknow where the hottest girls in Scottsdale are. Typle Republican hyprocrite. .
The problem with everything the dumbocrap spokesman mentioned, is that the American people didn't want Obummiecare, stimulus, a shame of financial reform law that didn't address any of the problems that created the financial mess ie: Freddie and Fannie Mac, bundling, etc. When he is voted into the House, he will be another check against Obummie and his band of fools.
I wish all of these second rate sons of former and current politicians would spare the rest of us some grief and go into private business where they can make a mess of things that won't impact as many people.
Wow.. if anybody should've just kept his mouth shut, it's someone who's related to Dan Quayle...
My generation will inherit a weakened country- as long as we let corps run the country we will continue to weaken.
Drug cartels in Mexico- For Mexico to sort out. Unless we should cont. to be the world's police force
Tax cartels in DC- cartel- A small group of producers of a good or service who agree to regulate supply in an effort to control or manipulate prices. You might want to look at what corps are doing?
What's happened to America- oh no! not someone actually trying to effect change. Very scary!
I love Arizona- good for you. Keep talking like this and you'll get to stay there.
I was raised right- Doesn't seem like it if you jump to conclusions like this.
Someone needs to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place- your message says "more of the same". Not exactly knocking the hell outta anything....maybe continuing policies to beat down the middle class though?
At least Obama can spell.
Like father like son Republican candidate Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle. This young man just venting Quayle sound like a BIRD
The write of this report is full of BS
Sarah Palin and Ben Quayle– now that's a ticket!
If Ben Quayle isn't any smarter then his father, he should be real quiet and not let people know how dumb he really is. president obama is trying as hard as he can to clean up george bush,s screw ups.
This so called man... is a lying, bigoted racist who by the way is even more ignorant than is stupidly famous father...Potato head Dan Quale.
How come all rip-publicans are so bloody stupid?
I think he's been out in the heat too long. Guess he's a chip of the old block, father Dan Quack. The fruit does't fall far from the tree.
The son didn't fall too far from his stump father.
Obviously, he wasn't "raised right". Ignorance, arrogance, lies and deception are not attributes instilled by good parents. How are those family values, Ben? I just love how you exploited your nieces in the hope of getting votes. You’re a real winner, there.
Ben appears to be just another America hater out to get his own and screw the rest.
In it's history, America has had many great, many less than great and many bad Presidents. For Bennie to espouse that Oboma, after only 18 month on the job, is the absolute worst president, again after 18 short months, shows that his long term thinking is mitigated only by his stupidity. How much is crack going for these days Ben? This guys not worst the ink.
Just ask this son-of-an-idiot to spell p-o-t-a-t-o-e!
Like Father, like son?
Ben Quale is an idiot, just like his father.
Why don't you run a poll to see how many agree with him? I do and so will history. He will be right ahead of Carter.
Of course they did, that is what liberals do. Demean, degrade, demean, slam and otherwise show their drug demented minds. Look at the Corruptong in Chief, his fraudulence the dishonorable Hussein Obozo, president by the grace of SEIU.
Quayle's right. Obama IS the worst president in US history!
look at the unemployment rate, the trade deficit, the growing national debt, the continued housing crises....and the action the government is taking under Obama to address these issues.
I'd say Mr. Quayle is spot on. Obama really may be the WOAT (Worst of All-Time)
can he spell?
Whoa, wait a minute. Bill Clinton caused the problem with NAFTA, and Obama sure as heck has NOT fixed anything yet, only put us deeper in debt.
Even health care is NOT fixed and won't be in full affect until after his first term in 2014. IF he is re-elected, then he'll have to face the music, if he's not re-elected, then the democrats will blame the fall out from Obama's actions on the next president.
