Washington (CNN) - Top Democrats are firing back at House candidate Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, for running a new campaign ad that slashes President Obama by calling him "the worst president in history."
Brad Woodhouse, spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, told CNN that the candidate for a U.S. House seat from Arizona has no standing to judge Obama.
"The son of the worst vice president ever may think he has some wisdom on the job performance of political leaders, but if he thinks a president whose actions have saved the country from a second Great Depression, reformed a broken health care system and protected consumers from the risk and greed of Wall Street merits such mention, his analysis is only slightly less ridiculous than his candidacy for public office is," said Woodhouse.
Quayle, the 33-year-old son of the former vice president, is one of 10 Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for the third district House seat of retiring Rep. John Shadegg. The Republican-leaning district primarily encompasses Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs.
In the new 30-second spot Quayle declares: "My generation will inherit a weakened country. Drug cartels in Mexico, tax cartels in DC. What's happened to America? I love Arizona. I was raised right. Someone needs to go to Washington and knock the hell out of the place."

I may not know Ben Quayle or his political stances, but I'm from Austin , TX and I agree with his remarks towards the president. We may be lead to believe Obama is accomplishing things but I don't believe it's Obama's plans that are achieving anything. Nor do I see any future changes. All I keep hearing is how bad Republicans are. That's great but can we focus on our country instead of titles?

I notice he dropped his earlier ad that claimed he was a 4th generation Arizonian. Both he and his father were born in Indiana, and he just recently moved here. I wonder how many other "tall tales" he is going to tell us before the election. It is getting pretty hard to take anything he says without a very large grain of salt.

What exactly is a tax cartel? Everyone probably understands what an oil cartel is, a combination of businesses joining together to produce and market oil. It seems reasonable to think of a drug cartel as a combination of businesses joining together to produce and market drugs. Is a tax cartel a combination of businesses joining together to produce and market taxes? That doesn't make any sense, but making sense might not be one of Mr. Quayle's strong points. Maybe Mr. Quayle just wanted to get President Obama into the same paragraph with the word 'cartel'. It was a stretch. But he might get elected in Arizona. It is a crazy state and this is looking more and more like an election year in which the inmates will take over the asylum.
