(CNN) - President Obama and his family will travel to the Gulf Coast this weekend to support businesses that rely on tourists but have been devastated by the oil disaster.

The family will leave Saturday morning for Panama City Beach, Florida.

"Even as the president talks about what our next steps are in our response, obviously part of this will be highlighting the tremendous economic toll that has taken place," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters earlier this week.

Oh boy we in PC are looking forward to this. Invasion of the press, roads shut down, and beaches too–just so the first family can have a photo op.

27 hours in the Gulf area and then off to ANOTHER vacation in Martha's Vineyard. Can we have a do–over and elect Hillary over this joke we already have.?

Gulf coast visit now is a make up call for the Vermont and Spain vacations instead of vacationing on the gulf as he was telling other people to do. Just a do over.

  5. Facts are not fair to the GOP

Imagine if Obama had not negotiated $20 billion from BP to help the people of the gulf. A republican controlled congress would have excused BP of all damages to the people and the environment, and then apologized that our oil was hard to get to, which would force taxpayers to pay off big oil for the inconvenience of irresponsible drilling.

To appease republicans, the President will spend Saturday afternoon clearing brush.

The mere sight of "Obama" and "economic" in the same sentence should be enough to send chills up your spine.

Every time Bush went to the gulf after Katrina
it was called politicking by the media.
What can you do in person concerning the impact
on businesses you can't do on the phone ?

It's nice that you could finally show up in the gulf region.I know it must take away valuable time from your golf game and shooting hoops with the NBA stars. But i'm sure the people in the region will be glad you sacrificed so much for them. You'll be able to recover nicely when after you're photo opt you'll jet off to Martha's Vinyard for some well deserved vacation.

Another vacation. Thank god this man does not work for a living, what little he has done has been a disaster. Hope he just keeps spending our money on his arrogant, self edifying vacations and "slamming" anyone who opposes him for the next two years and doesn't break anything else. How is that Guantanomo thing going. No wait, was that another lie?

Transparent reaction to the Spain vacation . Again too little too late. If you watch you will see the lack of care and respect for the USA

I am sure the rethugs will have something to say about this trip also. After all nothing the President does is right in the dark eyes of the right wing and party of NO.

That's great! Good for President Obama, because he should have gone down last week, but had to wait for Michelle to return from Spain. Now for another vacation.
