Quayle stands by 'worst president in history' critique

(CNN) - Arizona House candidate Ben Quayle on Friday stood by a statement in a new campaign ad that called President Obama "the worst president in history" but offered nothing more than Republican talking points to back the claim.

Quayle, the son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, shares his father's conservative values and is one of 10 Republicans vying for the GOP nomination in Arizona's Third House district.

"He's an ideologue from a leftist bend," Quayle told CNN's John King in an interview to air Friday on John King USA. "I think that he's trying to take control of more parts of the private sector. He's trying to make government the answer to all the problems that we face when we should be focusing more on individual responsibility."

"I stand by my comment," he said of the campaign ad.

"The future that he [President Obama] has created for my generation and other generations is pretty terrifying," the 33-year-old candidate said. "It seems like right now he's starting to destroy the American dream."

Quayle did not point to any specific policies, programs, strategies or remarks from the president that supported his comments, however.

Quayle also responded to allegations that he penned regular contributions to a now defunct website called The site has since been renamed, but features similar content – gossip about nightlife in cities around the country. A quick glance at the website offers an endless stream of photographs of provocatively dressed women.

The site's owner, Nik Richie, wrote in an August 9 blog post that Quayle was the person behind the alias 'Brock Landers.' Quayle has admitted to writing several blog posts for the original DirtyScottsdale website, but says he is not behind the Brock Landers posts.

"I posted a few comments on a website that doesn't even exist anymore, they were innocuous and, you know, these are the types of smear campaigns that are being pushed against me about nothing," Quayle told CNN on Friday.

Arizona's Republican primary will be held on August 24.

Sounds familiar, you're wrong but I can't provide any specifics, or propose any alternate remedies just fear and the government shouldn't regulate the same creeps that almost ran our country into the ground; big banks, wall street, big oil, etc. proven middle class killers. Without moderate republican candidates, or democrats for that matter, we (the middle class) are doomed. Ready to work till your 72? The problem with being a moderate in either party is we're not "news", we don't get ratings, or sell commericals. We are the majority, we share the most common ground, yet all we see and hear are wackos like this guy, spare us CNN we could live without this.Time for the regular folks party. Other than Jon Stewart is there anyone who shows the hypocracy that exists somewhat fairly? (okay he leans left, but a moderate I'm sure) We're the ones who need to take our country back!

Dirty Ben has no business judging anyone else's motives.
Whenever you hear a conservative talk about "individual responsibility", just remember that is their code word for getting legal permission to rape the public with no government interference.
The whole purpose of government is to stop ruthless and greedy people from using force to take advantage of the rest of us.
Funny how conservatives never want to take individual responsibility when their mansions catch on fire, or when they are held hostage by kidnappers or terrorists. No, they turn into socialists pretty quickly when the rubber hits the road.

Has he the memory span of a knat? What about BUSH? Policies that resulted in the GREAT RECESSION. TRILLIONS for a nonproductive war, except for Blackwater and Halliburton that is. Added Trillions to the NATIONAL DEBT. Made billionares out of millionares. Screwed the middle class. Used TAXPAYER money to make good on WALL STREETS bad bets. Stock market lower when he leave office than it was what he began. Wanted to put YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY into the market. NOW REPUBLICANS WANT TO USE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY MONEY TO FUND THE WAR. I guess idiots can just say anything and there are more idiots who will believe them.

Like all good conservative sissies, this guy will say whatever it takes to pander to whatever American controversy plays the best. As long as he can get elected.

I doubt if this guy was granted access to the Oval Office to meet with President Obama that he would have the stones to call him the worst in U.S. History to his face. Which begs the question, would you really want someone like this guy representing you? I wouldn't.

Obviosly the man doesn't know history. George W. Bush was already awarded that title...just ahead of Herbert Hoover.

Your comments on your TV ads is not only a terrible remark by you but is disrespectful to our President. It has always been a national value to respect the president of the USA, no matter how you feel or your political persuation. I get discusted every time I see your ad and want to throw up. Why don't you go in a mole hole.

Individual responsibilty in a country that always blames everyone else?

Kinda like Quayle and all his fellow Repubs blame Obama for Bush's mess?

Oh, yeah, the pot just got blacker so the kettle shines more.

Ben is as much of a "potatoe" head as his dad. Dan Quayle was the Sarah Palin of the 80s, his stupidity just wasn't quite obvious enough to sink the candidacy of Bush the First.

This guy is an embarrassment. Obama has been in for how many months? Meanwhile, Bush who was in for 8 years completely destroyed everything. I consider him as one of the worst.

Typical Redumbican. All talk, no substance. Instead of complaining about what President Obama is or is not doing, he should have taken the time to tell his constituents his ideas on how to make his state and America better. Oh, but I forgot, Redumbicans don't have ideas, they just complain.

What talking points do you want him to have, CNN? Obviously there is a difference in ideology or he wouldn't be in a different political party than Obummie. The American people are against all of Obummie's policies. We will see that in November.

It's just the most un-informed comment I've ever heard. Even his attempt at backing up his statement is full of holes. Republicans are so quick to forget that 90% of Obama's spending is in response to a national emergency situation. You think without a recession the govt. would have bailed out banks and bought up a bunch of shares of GM just for the heck of it? To advance a secret socialist agenda?? Total, absolute, complete morons and I will NEVER vote for a Republican again.

Mr. Quayle, you must have had your head in the sand the 8 years of g. w. bush! By far the worst thing to happen to America. He started two wars and waste almost 6,000 American lives for nothing, the wars have cost us almost 2 trillion dollars to our debt, almost ruined our economy, almost ruined banking and just about put Wall Street under! Why are you repuglicans so blind?

He wants attention and air time. I don't blame him, but the truth of the matter was he got a good education, he knows who the worst presidents in U.S. history are. Names like Harding, Nixon, Pierce and Buchanan belong on that short list, not a President who has helped pass significant social legislation during a time of war. Surely not the first black President as well? Quayle is a smart man. Next time he should think before speaking.
