Washington (CNN) - Members of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission shouted at each other Friday over the Justice Department's decision to drop most of the charges in a 2008 incident in which black militants confronted voters at a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, polling place, leading to charges of voter intimidation.
Conservative commission members accused the Justice Department of "stonewalling" the commission's investigation into the dismissal, and called a Justice Department's response to requests for information "breathtaking and insulting." A liberal commission member, in turn, dismissed those complaints as the "last gasps of a conservative majority of this commission."
At the end of the fractious hour-long debate, no minds appeared to be changed. But one liberal member sided with the conservative majority in agreeing to recommend that Congress give the commission more power when investigating Justice Department matters in the future.

If it would have been any group of white conservative men blocking voters you wouldn't hear the end of it. Complete hypocrisy...
These militants showed up a nearly entirely black voting precinct where Bush won about 80 votes in 2004. Way to really intimidate McCain voters into switching to Obama.
Our racist administration will protect all racist blacks.
To be honest it is hard to condemn any act that allegedly was made in order to disencourage voters to do their civic duty if the acts that were made in order to COERCE voters to OBEY ORDERS from some group or another are not properly investigated.
Which led us to the following question:
If the investigation was not conduced as it should have been, who's to blame for that?
Don't look for justice from this administration.....not any aspect of this administration.
It appears this administration believes if the act go black on white it doesn't really matter but if it appears white on black than pull out the cannons and let the spin begin! Racsist acts matter either way and it needs to be dealt with.
Oh well...I guess some folks are getting away with with essentially murder. If these law-brakers were white or Latino, the Justice Department would have thrown the whole legal library at them. It's very unusual and unfair how the Justice Department is applying the laws to certain individuals and groups.
I guess we have grown to expect this from the NObama administration.
Stay tuned...
Never mind that this is a story about a tiny group of crackpots who stopped no one from voting.
It was aimed at doing what the doctored video Breitbart posted set out to do: convince Americans that the Obama administration favors blacks over whites.
And never mind that, to her great credit, Abigail Thernstrom, a conservative George W. Bush appointee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, dismissed the case and those pushing it.
"This doesn't have to do with the Black Panthers," she told Politico's Ben Smith. "This has to do with their fantasies about how they could use this issue to topple the [Obama]
Were the Black Panthers there, perhaps, to ENSURE that Black voters would be ALLOWED to vote without INTERFERENCE? It's not as if THAT hasn't happenned before. And when all else fails they run out of ballots, or the grammy-winning: THE MACHINES BROKE DOWN.
Republicans are jokes and their antics to destroy the American government in their hopes that it makes them relevant are pathetic and bordering on treasonous. Stop hating and doing the job we pay you to do you silly conservative imbecils.
When the Bush Administration Justice Department dropped charges against these same "Black Panthers", there was no (fake) outrage from the Right Wingnuts then.
Now, it's just another RepubliKlan effort to stir up racial division.
On a related note, I hear South Carolina RepubliKlans are approving 2.4 million to provide medical assitance to grossly obese RepubliKlan State workers to lose weight, while cutting funding for teachers and education. They're even removing asphalt from S.C. roads, turning them back into dirt and gravel roads.
Please white folks have been killing, stealing from, hating, on black folks all their lives. It's time for you white folks too shut the he!! up!
where the heck was this commission when black voters were stopped by white Florida police during the 2000 Bushy boy stolen election? And where has your Willy been to make it Brown?
