Women's group says Palin doesn't speak for them

Washington (CNN) - The Democratic women's political group EMILY's List launched a new campaign Tuesday, taking on conservative candidates endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

"We didn't want Sarah Palin's voice to go unchallenged," EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock said at a Washington news conference. She said the campaign, 'Sarah Doesn't Speak for Me' is a way to "call upon women and men to let their voices be heard and to reject Palin's reactionary candidates and backward-looking agenda."

Palin has endorsed candidates in gubernatorial, Senate and Congressional races around the country, calling the women candidates she backed "mama grizzlies." EMILY's List has made its own series of endorsements in races nationwide.

Schriock said the campaign was created because the candidates Palin has endorsed are "extreme" and "bad for America."

Schriock focused criticism on candidates like Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, who will face Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer in November.

Schriock said Fiorina laid off tens of thousands of people as a "failed" corporate CEO. "The choice in California could not be clearer. The choice between a job killer and an EMILY's List hero, Barbara Boxer," said Schriock.

In May, Palin addressed the conservative women's group Susan B. Anthony's List. Countering the EMILY's List event, the group drove its bus with the message "Abortion is Not Health Care" around the block where the news conference was held.

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said, "EMILY's List's campaign is what "repels women from being a part of the traditional women's movement."

"Palin is used as a punching bag", she said, "Other women who run for political office know this can happen to them too," said Dannenfelser.

"No one is attracted to that approach to politics. That's why there is a hunger for authenticity in politics. Palin has an inclusive approach to politics," Dannenfelser said.

The word for the day, Sarah, is: DISASSOCIATION.

Having trouble spelling that dear? Try BUBONIC PLAGUE.

Okay, not fair, okay. Let's try: PEOPLE ARE SMELLING THE COFFEE AND THEY DON'T WANT YOU IN IT!

    Class dismissed.

Sarah Palin speaks for Sarah Palin, period. She only cares about the candidates she endorses only to the extent that she can call in political favors when she runs for president in 2012.

There are people like her who think that a willingness to smirk and say snarky things equals intellect and who use their religious faith as an excuse for reprehensible behavior, but the majority of people recognize Palin for what she was, is and always will be:

    A quitter, a liar and a mooch.

GUYinVA: You obviously don't know any woman who's actually had an abortion. I don't know one who did it with a cavalier attitude. I also don't know one who didn't wish they weren't in the difficult position they were in.

Until you grow a uterus and can truly walk a mile in a woman's shoes, you really should shut your pie hole.

Naqib – besides mocking everything and evrybody that doesn't fit your idea of 'righteousness'... do you have any reasonable argumentation to do?
Stupid question since we all know the answer beforehand, isn't?

Imagine that a women's group saying she doesn't speak for them. Duh....but they will bash her as far as it goes saying she steps on women's "rights". Palin is in reality more like the "average" woman than they would like to think. I am tired of women's groups pushing their agenda and not allowing women to think for themselves. They do nothing more than make women think that they cannot think for themselves, cannot fail, have an opinion other than their's and must fit a mold to be a maverick. They make me sick. Women should celebrate that they are from different walks of life and have different values and opinions (heck men do and they don't get the crap bashed out of them). Just because you are not a lawyer, did not go to an ivy league school, go into politics or acting doesn't mean you did not work your arse off to get where you are.

" Palin has set back the cause of female participation in politics 150 years."

Oh, I dunno if I'd go that far...she's living proof that women can be just as self-serving, corrupt, misinformed, under-educated, ideologue nihilists as some male politicians. If you like the idea of gender equality, she's walking proof of it.

The fact that Death Panel Sarah speaks for anyone in America is scarier than hell. She is a sensationalist, a liar, a troublemaker and has no clue whatsoever as to the real needs of Americans.

    "mama grizzlies"
That sounds very progressive if you ask me. If you do the comparison to humans, you are saying these are independant women, who can kill to put food on the table, yet are loving and will battle males to protect her young. Hmm, maybe they ought to rethink that label.

Thank you EMILY!!! No Sarah Palin does not speak for us ! In fact in all sorts of ways, equal pay for equal work, our right to choose what we do with our own bodies; she speaks against us.

Thank you EMILY ... Thank you independent women!

Did anybody see their video? They had a bunch of Ewoks in it.

I am not kidding you. I showed the Mama Grizzly video to a couple of liberal women at work and then the Ewok video. The liberal women were in shock at the stupidity of the Ewok video. They said Palin's video was uplifting and positive and the Hollyween video was .....they said nothing they was in shock. Not to mention the lies in it.

A word of advice for Emily's list.

Go crawl back in your cave and go back to sleep. You time has long passed you.

    Sarah Palin Rules.

You have to be a self-loathing worm to be an uncle Tom of women as Palin is. In fact, you really have to be self-loathing to be a Republican, because you really hate others but the real problem is yourself. That is why t=you treat the world with such contempt, as though the world has wronged you and you have to make sure everyone else suffers as you have.

    ... pitiful...

Well, those hardcore, judgemental, close-minded, far-left feminists do not speak for me! I am not a huge fan of Sarah Palin, but I've had the unforunate pleasure of working with some of those hardcore, far-lefty gals & they are the worst! They condem you if you don't follow or believe as they do. I amm sure Sarah Palin hasn't lost any sleep pver this. These gals do nothing for women & you can keep them!

Au Contraire, Sarah Palin speaks for Fox News. She is too dumb to even realize that the sound bites and cue cards they give her to read are so rediculously out in left (oops I mean right) field that she just tries to read them best she can. She has no voice to even speak for herself, everything she says is fed to her by her managers. Thank you, Emily's List, for publicly countering Sarah's faux farce of representing women. Sarah is just a material girl, out to make a buck, now that she can, since old John McC gave her the limelight. She certainly doesn't speak for me, a white woman in her 60's, and a retired teacher ( ooh, Sarah, give me that sarcastic voice and rolled eye look. How did you do in school, honey?). She doesn't speak for my 30 something daughter or any of her friends, nor any of my women friends. She only speaks for a buck and for Fox News.

Does Sarah speak for anyone other then the right wing extremist nut case fringe group of teabuggers who are racists? The woman is a bimbo that makes no sense to those of us with a brain! Those who have half a brain probably can makes some sense out of something she says?

Right on. Scary Palin speaks for only one type of woman, as far as I can see–uneducated.
