Palin goes 0-for-2 on primary night

Palin's endorsements have yet to produce victories in August so far.
Palin's endorsements have yet to produce victories in August so far.

(CNN) – It hasn't been the greatest of months for Sarah Palin when it comes to her political star power.

The two candidates Palin backed in Tuesday's primaries lost their bids, making the former Alaska governor 0-for-5 when it comes to endorsements this month.

In Washington State, Palin had backed Tea Party activist Clint Didier in his bid for the Senate over businessman Dino Rossi, the favorite of national Republicans.

In making her endorsement of Didier last May, Palin said the Tea Party favorite had "inspired" her, and hailed him as a "patriot running for U.S. Senate to serve his state & our country for all the right reasons!"

Palin went on to record a robocall for Didier, telling voters that "unlike establishment candidates who just talk about lower taxes, Clint has signed a pledge to do so."

But Rossi easily beat Diddier in Tuesday's primary, besting the former NFL player by more than 20 points.

Palin's candidate also lost out in the Wyoming gubernatorial primary on Tuesday. There, the former vice presidential nominee backed what she referred to as a "Mama Grizzly," State Auditor Rita Meyer.

"Voters know that Rita has a unique blend of steel magnolia and mama grizzly," Palin wrote on her Facebook page in July.

Meyer ultimately lost her bid to U.S. Attorney Matthew Mead by fewer than 1,000 votes, according to the Wyoming secretary of state.

Ultimately, Palin put little effort into either race beyond a few sentences expressing support on her Facebook and Twitter pages. Still, the endorsements made big news in the local races and were often touted by the campaigns.

But Palin's 0-2 showing follows a bigger disappointment last Tuesday, when her hand-picked gubernatorial candidate in Georgia, Karen Handel, lost to fellow Republican Nathan Deal in a close election.

Palin had put most of her efforts into that race, appearing with Handel at campaign rally just hours before the vote.

Palin-backed candidates Rep. Todd Tiahrt, who was vying for Senate in Kansas - and Tennessee congressional candidate CeCe Heil also lost their bids earlier this month.

Palin's next tests come Tuesday when Alaska, Arizona and Florida hold their primary votes. In Alaska, Palin has backed Joe Miller in his long shot bid to defeat Republican Senate incumbent Lisa Murkowski. In Arizona, Palin went with Sen. John McCain in his Senate primary bid against former Rep. J.D. Hayworth. And in Florida, Palin has picked Republican candidate Marco Rubio in that state's Senate race.

UPDATE: Two congressional candidates Palin endorsed in Washington did advance in Tuesday's primaries: John Koster in Washington's 2nd District and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers in Washington's 5th District. Koster was the runner up in Washington's open primary to incumbent Democrat Rick Larsen, meaning the two will face off in November. McMorris Rodgers did not face a serious opponent.

The people of Washington state make up their own minds. They certainly don't listen to someone who doesn't know our state and isn't from our state. Why should her endorsement matter to anyone outside of Alaska?

Also, if people continue to call her former gov. Sarah Palin, then they should also call her former beauty queen Sarah Palin. In fact, I think she was a beauty queen longer than she was a gov.

Palin's Touch could be a blessing or the kiss of death ... when polled, even conservatives have her running third as a possible candidate so why is she even bothering with elections not in her home states? She could be home raising her newest child instead of wandering in the dessert ... whoops! Forgot! $100,000 speaking fees!

A couple weeks is not a trend, everyone has bad weeks. Palin is part of a long term shift however, she will rebound come closer to 2012.

All of her months should have bad starts, middles and ends - she is second to the worst of the worst. Michelle Bachman holds the title!

Having Show-Me-The-Money-Sarah endorse you is political suicide. Who says she's having a bad month? She's had a bad life since she entered politics!

(I have a very long list of others, so it could actually be 0-for-1000). November 2010 & November 2012.. take back America!

Eventually all political hopefuls will figure out that Sarah Palin is "toxic" to their political asperations. And, this is a good thing as she really doesn't have a clue and those that follow here are as dumb as she is.

Who did Snooki endorse in those races? Makes about as much difference as who Palin endorsed, and both ahve about the same level of political credibility.

For her to be 0 for 5 is no suprise. The only reason Sarah Palin Gump needs to be paid attention to is to prevent her from doing anymore damage to our country's policies and future. She has the potential to be a bigger embarassment to our country than GW was.

  18. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

Are we finally finding out that Caribou Barbie is imperfect? I did notice she kept her big mouth out of our races in CT even though we had as big of a publicity hound as her running for Senate! I felt sure that if she had publicly endorsed Linda McMahon that former congressman Rob Simmons would have run the Republican Primary!

This lady is a joke. An embrassment for women everywhere who work hard to make a name for themselves. She has no political weight and very quickly her party will stop inviting her to events or asking for her help.

First she comes in behind Romney in a poll of Teabaggers' preferences for 2012, now this.

Could this be the beginning of the end of Sarah Palin? I really really really really hope so.
