(CNN) – The Republican National Committee urged the Justice Department Wednesday to investigate efforts last year by the White House to convince Rep. Joe Sestak to abandon his Senate campaign, an attempt by the GOP to breathe new life into an embarrassing episode for the Obama administration.
RNC Chairman Michael Steele made the request in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, a week after former President Clinton denied that he tried to convince Sestak to leave the Democratic primary at the behest of the White House.
Clinton's account appears to contradict a White House internal investigation that was outlined in a publicly released May memorandum.
Sestak rebuffed White House attempts to force him from the race and went on to defeat Sen. Arlen Specter in the primary.

"RNC asks DOJ for investigation of Sestak affair." Who was the Ivy League genius that came up with this title? He / she has to be a former employee of Fox News or the National Enquirer. "Affair"? Really?
I want the DOJ to spend 24/7 investigating Sen. Ensign. His crimes are prosecutable and he should serve prison time and forfeit all his retirement benefits from the gov. !
instead of old news and trying to embarass the white house how about some real ideas on how to improve the economy. Not one idea since the election. Vote all the repos out and tea baggers too. They are not patriots and only want to change the constitution to suite their own needs. Bunch of wingnuts who don't care about the average man.
Oh, shut up RNC. This is old news. Stop trotting out those old and tired ponies.
The RNC do not have a chances in PA
the rnc will do anthting it can so people won't talk about the issues, lets talk about jobs, economy, not about some b-s that nobody cares about but them, people wise up the gop doesn't have any new ideas.
RNC: Desperate or what???? Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Here we go again. Republicans are seeking to waste money, time, and energy on crapola instead of focusing on the economy and jobs. Work with President Obama and the dems on those problems. Earn your keep.
Again, the republicans demonstrate they do NOT want to do anything for this nation, they want to bring down our President and all democrats even if it kills all of us.
Vote NO to the mean, divisive, obstructionist Party of NO.
A drowning Gop will catch at a straw!!! the angry old men have nothing to run on!!
Since when does the RNC have access to the DOJ ... never
" . . . an attempt by the GOP to breathe new life into an embarrassing episode for the Obama administration" Now doesn't that just say it all about the Republicans. They have not told us ONE thing they would do to help America. In fact, they have not even been earning their pay checks since President Obama got elected. Saying no, filibustering and just plain being an unproductive pain, is NOT doing your job.
The D.O.J. will have no interest in this. If it doesn't help the Obama administration directly or put a roadblock in the path of the loyal opposition, the powers that be in the justice department will ignore the whole thing.
There is a type in Chairman Steele's letter. "he" should be "the".
Sorry it is not going to happen. Republicans continue to avoid the issues by trying to investigate everything. It is the economy stupid. This is about the third request to investigate a Democrat from the Republicans so if the do win back Congress this is all the Republicans will be doing is using our tax money to start millions of investigation against the Democrat and nothing else. Republicans have slowed down and progress in Congress by fillbusting every bill the Democrat introduce and now they wanted to investigate everything the Democrat do. Wait up American people, if thinks Congress bad now just wait until the Republicans regain their power back in Congress. Republicans have never been good at governing so why would we put them back in office.

Useless Steele have nothing better to do with his time so he writes a letter to Eric Holder asking him to investigate and waste tax payer money because he failed dearly at his job and now he wants to take the attention off him. Steele is such a sad leader.
Here we go again!!! Steele has been quiet for the past week or so because there was NOTHING he felt he can comment on without Slapping himself in the face.
Now here Steele comes – stirring up the pot again on a DEAD ISSUE just because he has NOTHING else to complain about in order to keep the HATE going all the way to November!!!
Nice try Steele – but Americans are smarter than that!!!
Here is the deal do you all really think this is something new that these type of back room deals have never happened before? For once I wish they would focus on what is really important, not wheter they offered some guy a job so he wouldn't run as senator.
No way will Eric Holder investigate his boy in the WH...Eric Holder only investigates that which benefits his "pres" and the dem party.
Ahhhhh.........There's nothing quite like the smell of Republican desperation early in the morning....... Well when you can't fall back on merit, substance, or accomplishments to get votes you do what you gotta do I guess! If the party of Gigantic Orifice Pimples ever had a "grasping at straws" moment this would be it!.......Good luck with that, dipshits!
Thats like asking the hamburglar to investigate stolen big macs at McDs
