Washington (CNN) – Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator, moved one tiny step closer to declaring himself a 2012 candidate on Wednesday, saying he feels as if he is "being pulled along" into the race.
"I sort of feel in some respects I'm being pulled along in this," Santorum told the Des Moines Register on Wednesday. "I'm still seriously going through this process. And at this point I'm very encouraged by everything that's happening."
In July, Santorum met privately with several of his former Capitol Hill staffers to pitch the idea of a presidential bid in 2012, something the Republican is now talking openly about.
"There seems to be support on the ground at least to consider this," Santorum told the Des Moines Register. "The response has been surprisingly positive."
If and when Santorum makes his candidacy official, he will start as a decided underdog if better funded candidates like Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts enter the race.

Hope he does anounce for 2012.. then he could show us all how much he really likes to have big government stick their nose in peoples private life and tell them how many kids to have ....and his so called pro life stance which opposes health care for all families.. Whats pro life about being against.... health Insurance for all families?
We got rid of this nut job in Pa. There maybe a reason for that.
Every respectful Republican is likely to do well in 2012 by being non-apologetic about America, pro business, and pragmatic rather than being a demagogue from the left who is incoherent on policy, not caring about jobs, and caring about the direction of this country! Preferably, someone with some experience of running things rather than a talker, it will work better and be a good contrast to the current administration! Yes, I forgot, someone who does not come across as blaming the past (America's past, Bush, the other party, the moon, the sun, etc.)
Yuck. Another GOP idiot.
Santorum? President? BWAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Heck, Pennsylvania didn't even want him anymore, do you think the country is going to elect this clown? BWAHHHHHH!!!!!
Oh, is this sanctimonious whackjob back? He may be an idiot but at least he's a Christian idiot and that's good enough for the Tea Partying dittoheads.
Rick is delusional. He couldn't even keep his senate seat and now he feels "pulled along" to 2010? Who is doing the pulling? Certainly not the people of PA who finally got tired of his antics.
Dream on, Rick. You'll never be president.
If ex.senator Santorum run for president he had better get an english name otherwise he will carry a baggage with him. This is very funny all these so call African American have English name but none is clasified as european.
I highly doubt his brains "pulling him along." The guy is an idiot and he doesn't have a chance...
Good luck with that, freak.
Someone should ask Rick Santorum if Obama is a Muslim..
my guess is you'd get an over-the-top divisive response (Fox News-Glenn Beckish), that would be nothing more than soundbites which perpetuate the myth that Republicans have character and Democrats do not. I really do hope there is a God that judges all these @#$% lying goofballs, and the painfully ignorant @#$% that support them.
Ask voters from PA.
He is a homophobic...
male chauvinist man...
who can't tell the truth...
when his career depended on it!
He was voted out of office for a REASON!
He wouldn't get my vote...
if he was the only man standing.
I can not wait till the Republican Debates start for the Presidental Elections in 2010......that will be the best show on TV.....watching all these canidates ripping each other apart....and espescially if Palin is in on it......but knowing her she will not attend .......after all she is a quitter and she can't take the heat from the Main Stream Press so she might just do her own Debate on FOX where Beck, Hannity and O'Reily can ask her the questions and she can answer without any rebuttle from other canidates.......yeah that's the way she will do it......
Tricky Ricky Sanitarium is being puilled along on a road to nowhere. This right wing loser doesn't have a chance to be president so thankfully he will be wasting a lot of republican money. Hopefully "The White Annoying Teabagger" party will also be wasting their money on him too.
LOL...this dude should really go sit down some where. Do he really think he stands a chance? I mean didn't he get booted a few years back because of some comments that were not the best coming out of a politician mouth?
Hey Santorum, good luck with that Google problem. But hey, if you can "pull Pailin" along was well, a lot of Dems will thank you for your idiocy (and a guaranteed Dem victory).
