Palin to Dr. Laura: 'Don't retreat'

(CNN) – Embattled radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger, who earlier this week announced she was ending her radio show, is finding an ally in Sarah Palin.

A day after Schlessinger told CNN's Larry King she was ending her show amid controversy over her repeated use of the N-word during an on-air conversation, Palin tweeted, "don't retreat...reload!"

"Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American, not fair")" Palin wrote on Twitter Wednesday night.

"Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!," Palin added in a second tweet.

National furor erupted when Schlessinger used the N-word 11 times in five minutes during an August 10 call with an African-American woman who was seeking advice on how to deal with racist comments from her white husband's friends and relatives. The conversation evolved into a discussion on whether it's appropriate to use the word ever, with Schlessinger arguing it's used on HBO and by black comedians.

Schlessinger apologized the following day, saying, "I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the N-word all the way out - more than one time. And that was wrong. I'll say it again - that was wrong."

While Schlessinger told King on Tuesday that she was still "regretful" over the incident, she said she feels her freedom of speech rights "have been usurped by angry, hateful groups who don't want to debate - they want to eliminate."

    dude, a 50something woman using txt-talk...

the constitution is important when you drop the n-bomb – it's meaningless when it comes to freedom of religion for muslims, illegal searches and the 14th amendment.

    so nice to cherry pick...

I have black relatives, I'm white, they use the "N" word all the time, vulgalry, doesn't bother them or their friends or their black relatives, it bothers me and they don't care. Hang around blacks and you will hear them use it, including teenagers. Perhaps blacks should stop using the "N" word themselves to set an example for everyone else.

I think Dr. Laura is doing the right thing by ending her radio show. It is the right thing to do.

If Dr. Laura KNOWS what best for her she better IGNORE Sarah Palin's ignorant "reload" comment.

Sarah Palin is nothing but a COWARD, a SCAM ARTISTS who runs her mouth about things she has NO CLUE about. This is a woman who WON'T give interviews to main stream news media because she KNOWS she will be ousted as a FRAD, a FAKE, and PHONEY.

Sarah Palin continues and will always be just another "two-bit" hustler. She goes around doing nothing but babbling about NOTHING and thinks Americans don't see her for the PHONEY she is.

Maybe she was right to call some of the Blacks "N". Some of them do act like bunch of "N". There is a big difference betweeen a Black person an a "N", not as a name calling, but as the way that some behave in society.

Can we all just agree that, all though it is protected speech, it is still in bad taste and probably shouldnt be repeated.

"her freedom of speech rights "have been usurped by angry, hateful groups who don't want to debate – they want to eliminate."

yeah, eliminate racism. how dare they!!

No one is taking away her first amendment rights. She has the right to say stupid, obnoxious things just as the people (favourites of Palin) have the right to take offense and action against those words. These people continue to show they are not concerned with anyone or anything that insn't in complete agreement with their way of thinking!

Dr. Laura wants to say what she thinks, but can't handle hearing anyone else say what they think. She gets some blowback, and she runs away whining.

Just like Palin resigning the Alaska governorship.

Opportunists and cowards, both of them.

Now that I think about it, Palin and Dr. Laura are manufactured right out of the same racism, bigoted mold, and hide behind their "christianity" as their ambodiment for their lunacy.

Ms. Palin, so are you saying it is OK to use the N-word because it is protected by free speech? Not a single person asked her to quit. No one has stepped on her rights to free speech.

People who are offended, like me, are exercising THEIR free speech by saying it was wrong of her to use that word. If she had stopped after the 1st 3 times, her point would have been valid, but she kept on saying the word, 11 times total. She interruppted her own caller, several times when the caller was trying to tell her she was offended. Again, no one asked her to resign or quit. YOU are the one trying to slience people. Dr. Laura had a good case until she blamed others for what she did. No one in the media did nothing than report what happened. So what if Sharpton and others jumped in. Do they not have "free speech" rights as well? I don't necessarily agree with them either, but they, just like Dr. Laura, have the right to vice their opinion. Please read..............the facts before you just jump in something.

BTW – how do you feel about the N-Word? Your tweet doesn't mention what happened at all.

My issue with her, was not the use of the N word per se. It was the comment that people of different races should not marry. Put the entire conversation together and you get a picture of an individual who is a racist and a bigot. God bless Mrs. Palin for supporting such ugliness. Thankfully, our Nation is better than the Sara Palin(s) and the Dr. Laura(s) of the world.

Well Dr. Laura, with Palin on your side you have no choice but to get out while you can. Everyone she endorses fails. With that said you've always been an obnoxious feminist man hater anyway.

"Don't retreat – reload"? Reload what? More racist rants?

Can Sarah Palin be any more divisive & juvenile?

Unfortunately, I believe the obvious answer to that question is "yes".
