Palin to Dr. Laura: 'Don't retreat'

Sarah Palin is standing behind Dr. Laura Schlessinger.
Sarah Palin is standing behind Dr. Laura Schlessinger.

(CNN) – Embattled radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger, who earlier this week announced she was ending her radio show, is finding an ally in Sarah Palin.

A day after Schlessinger told CNN's Larry King she was ending her show amid controversy over her repeated use of the N-word during an on-air conversation, Palin tweeted, "don't retreat...reload!"

"Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American, not fair")" Palin wrote on Twitter Wednesday night.

"Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!," Palin added in a second tweet.

National furor erupted when Schlessinger used the N-word 11 times in five minutes during an August 10 call with an African-American woman who was seeking advice on how to deal with racist comments from her white husband's friends and relatives. The conversation evolved into a discussion on whether it's appropriate to use the word ever, with Schlessinger arguing it's used on HBO and by black comedians.

Schlessinger apologized the following day, saying, "I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the N-word all the way out - more than one time. And that was wrong. I'll say it again - that was wrong."

While Schlessinger told King on Tuesday that she was still "regretful" over the incident, she said she feels her freedom of speech rights "have been usurped by angry, hateful groups who don't want to debate - they want to eliminate."

I'm a conservative and this is just stupid.
I mean, sure, there are overly politically correct folks out there but come on.... When and where did the caller say that anyone using that language was o.k? When did she say it was o.k. for blacks to use it. Dr. Laura set up a straw man and then went a bizarre rant. Next wacko.

This is certainly a case of the pot calling the kettle black. The people who object, me included, to Dr. Laura's overuse of the N word, are angry and hateful? To me the word itself is hateful, and no I am not black, but the use of this word was not permitted in our home as I grew up. I am a 55 year old white woman and I thank God everyday, that my parents had the courage back then to stand up for what was right, as opposed to what was popular at the time. As for Ms. Palin saying that people who oppose the use of this language by Dr. Laura are Constitutional obstructionists, please, the Republicans are the ones who are out there trying to rewrite our Constitution to suit their purposes. So, Sarah, Dr. Laura is just using her First Amendment Freedom of Speech using the N word, but Raum Emmanual should be fired for using the word retarded? Get a grip.

Ah, the party of hate, intolerance, and racism. Gotta love Sarah and her warped view of 'freedom' to include saying mean, nasty things and making a fool of oneself. Here in reality, we call it, "Giving someone enough rope to hang yourself with."

Sarah walked away from her position as governor of Alaska after 18 months. Is this the person who should be giving advice to Dr. laura about staying on the job?

Palin......is an idiot. As long as anyone who works for a company, especially one with sponsors.......you've lost that right to free speech because then you represent the company, not an individual.

She (Palin) is now showing all America that she has no idea of what the constitution really means. Especially after she so adamately "refudiated' the NY mosque 2.5 blocks away from the 9/11 site. I am extremely relieved that she did not become the VP of the USA.

ok, so dr laura empties her N bomb clip and sarah palin tells her to "reload"? so is sarah palin saying dr. laura should say it 11 more times? well go ahead. as liberals, its time to let the conservatives do their thing. let beck hold his party, let brewer hate mexicans, let them protest the "mosque", let them bash the gay community, let them insult the jobless, all without protest! they are destoying themselves! they need no help from us to point out the pure hate and evil that exist in their ranks! the vast middle and independent of america will make the right choices. if they dont, than americans are hateful and scared of their own nieghbors and fellow citizens. equal right for ALL!

Where there is controversy, Sara Palin is right there in the mix. Sara Palin is very evil spiteful person and will never be our President. She is the worst kind of politicians and does not desire to be no where near the White House. How can you want to be the President of the USA and be so diverse and hateful toward others people of other religion, other races, and different opinions. I hope Sara Palin do try to run in 2012 and watch how fast she will be running back to Alaska after her big lost. We do not need people like Sara Palin running any part of government. I glad she quit her governor job because she is not fit for work for government with her racist views.

Sarah's answer to any problem seems to be to "reload." I am guessing that Dr. Laura would just as soon do without this particular endorsement.

I'm sorry but who "shackled" Dr. Laura? She was on satellite radio. She wasn't censored. She chose to leave.

Sarah Palin is a true whackjob, she opens her mouth without thinking or knowing the facts. I'm so glad she stepped down from an important position for our country.

And how does this relate to "Constitutional obstructionists"? Palin just throws everything at the wall and hopes something sticks.

Well now we know she is a racist.I guess the N word is ok in her circles. What an idiot.

  13. Who's boneheaded the most?

If you listen to the tape, and who here has, she says comedians on HBO say it all the time, over and over again, and they are not banned or censored. In fact people pay to hear them. So Laura made the point that sensitivity entails understanding context, and you all should see the positive point Laura made in that context. Or not, and just go about your race-baiting.

Palin is telling Dr. Laura not to QUIT. This is the woman who QUIT as Governor of Alaska after 2 years.

She is now the authority on not QUITTING. Recently she became the authority on "not being vetted" and also "being in over one's head" Very soon I expect her to become the authority on "Intelligence and eloquent speech"

Unfortunately I will not be able to eat lunch today due to the severe nausea that Palin always causes me. She just refuses to go away.

Don't quit? Strange advice from the Queen of Quit! Or is this just another unexplained flip-flop? Oh, and by the way, just how is this going to make the Tea Party non-racist if their Grizzly Queen is supporting Dr. Laura?

So it was OK when the right tried to censor humor, but not ok when the left tries to censor racism?

I find it odd that right wingers that freedom of speech ends on their door step. If "Dr" Laura and Sarah Palin have freedom of speech, those who disagree with their racist and un-American positions ALSO have the freedom to express said disagreement. As usual, logic and consistency are not strong points for American conservatism.

  21. LacrosseMom(the real one)

"Don't retreat" ......eh? Okay. Palin said "....... and b thankful 4 her voice,America." Really........ be thankful for hate-speak?

We ALL have the Freedom of Speech, Schlessinger is FREE to utter any word she wants. But let me ask this, what would Schlessinger, a Jewish woman through conversion, say about anti-Semitic remarks? Would Schlessinger defend the person making anti-Semitic remarks? Would Schlessinger stand up, and say, that the person using hate-speak towards a Jewish person, is Free and should be tolerated since we all have Freedom of Speech? I doubt it.

Problem with Palin's point is that we can not tolerate ANYONE using hate-speak......... not against Blacks, Muslims, Christians, Gays........ nor Jews! Its not okay to ........... hate.

Hate is not a Christian nor a Jewish value!

LOOK, all I am saying is that conservatives and republicans have come to represent all that wrong with the world and we can't live with out them.
How would you know the light if not for the darkness of the shadows?
How could you appreciate the good of this world if you have never knew evil?
You would never know what was right and correct if you never saw an example of what is wrong...i.e. Sarah Palin
