Levi Johnston files letter of intent to run for office in Wasilla

Levi Johnston on Friday filed a letter of intent to run for office in Wasilla, Alaska.

Levi Johnston on Friday filed a letter of intent to run for office in Wasilla, Alaska.

(CNN) - Levi Johnston filed paperwork on Friday that confirms his intent to run for office in Wasilla, Alaska – presumably for the same office Sarah Palin held until 2002.

Filing a letter of intent is typically the first step local politicians take when seeking elected office. Johnston's filing permits him to accept campaign contributions.

In the Alaska Public Offices Commission form letter, Johnson filled out a blank stating he intends to run for office in the "City of Wasilla 2011" election but did not declare an office. But, Stone & Company Entertainment confirmed to CNN on August 10 that it is actively shopping a show that will feature Johnston running for mayor.

"Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office," will feature the trials and tribulations of America's most famous teen dad as he enters the world of politics while continuing to dabble in Hollywood, the production company also confirmed.

The incumbent mayor, Verne Rupright, won a 2008 runoff election with 466 votes. He took a shot at Levi after news of "Loving Levi" broke.

"Well, it is a little early to declare. Usually most wait until the year the seat is up," current Wasilla Mayor Verne Rupright said in a statement. "But since I am nearly old enough to be Levi's grandfather I think it would be wise for him to get a high school diploma and keep his clothes on. The voters like that!"

Why not Levi? Besides all of the obvious reasons, please bear in mind that before Levi there was Sarah. Enough said.

To Gar who wrote among other things:
This president hasn't given us "HOPE" or "CHANGE" , he has given us more of the same.

    I disagree. Totally.
Obama has been the ONLY President that has succeeded in giving us some form of Healthcare Reform. True, not the full reform that he envisioned, but then it wasn't totally up to him as he does NOT write the laws. However the mere fact that he went ALL out to attempt, and to some measure, succeeded in doing so represents HOPE and CHANGE enough for me. The man was willing to committ political suicide in doing what is right for the majority; for those that had NO voice in Washington prior to his Presidency. Plenty paid it lip service, but NONE were willing to risk re-election by actually doing the deed.

The HOPE and CHANGE that Obama promised and is delivering is all around you. People are coming out of the woodwork because they want things to remain the same. They want the destructive course and status-quo that took us decades to create. They want power in the hands of those that couldn't give two figs about God, country, and the least of us while they rape this land of ours and....move on to rape someone else once out of office.

Look at the Tea Party. Where were they before Obama. They too are fighting the Change. Not everyone embraces change. People fear it. They rather remain with the tried and booed, then forge ahead and bring lustre, class, and respect to our country. People are fighting the need for better education. No money for that they say. They are fighting the need to cut back our dependency on foreign oil and fuels. But there is ALWAYS money for WAR and death. People do not see that we've fallen way behind the curve in countries that are LEADING the world, yet they do NOT want the investment in US. Yet they are willing to let others invest THEIR tax dollars in rebuilding the infrastructure of a coutnry we just got through bombing to smithereens.

The President is challenging us to use our intelligence, and argue sensibly. He is encouraging dialogue even from those that can barely put two solid sentences together. This scares people, and so they resent him and call him ARROGANT. I've seen arrogant. This guy is NOT it.

We're fighting the CHANGE. We're choosing to despair as opposed to walking in the light of HOPE. They both take EXTRAORDINARY efforts to bring about. And we have an EXTRAORDINARY man willing to lead with patience, understanding, and a willingness to set an example that the rest of us are too dumb, too lazy, or maybe just too set in our ways to follow.

It took A LOT to get us into these dire straits. I'm going to give Obama eight years to get us OUT. Yes he CAN. And more importantly, Yes We Can!

    Obama 2012.

This kind of stuff is entertainment in Alaska. How do you think the beauty queen got elected? it wasn't because of her intellect.

Just had to say to "Not all Docs play golf" – great limerick. Bad news, l liked it so much it's going to stay in my head for awhile.

The only thing I didn't like was you insulted gorillas – they would not claim her as a descendant.

It is so sad how much hate and venom the left seems to have. How ironic they call the right "hateful". I was a Democrat for 30 years a couple years ago when I saw all of the hate towards Hillary and then Sarah. It sure opened my eyes.
    Love ya Hillary!
    Love ya Sarah!!

This Clown is as stupid as Sarah Palin and neither one of them should have ever held any office.

He quit his job because it was to hard and wanted to try and score easy cash off the losers paying him to mumble in interviews.

One would think the people of Alaska have had enough of the losers.

Maybe if he hits on "mama grizzly," they can patch things up again, and then their family tree will have just one branch.

You have to give this guy credit for trying, he seems to have an angle going for everything in his life, I guess he learned something from Palin after all.

Dominican Mama...your rants are becoming more and more long winded and hint more and more about desperation. Time to lay low for a little while. All you do is try to justify Obama's presidency. His approval ranting is in the toilet. Get over it. He promised jobs. He hasn't made good on that promise. Don't take the criticism so personally. It's ok for people to criticize him if they feel it is necessary. Your constant defense of him is admirable, but you really need to wake up and smell the coffee at some point.

So, somebody in the McCain camp looked over this disfuncitional nightmare family and said, "Yep, she's our gal!"

    God bless whoever that was.

Does Wasilla like uneducated people in office? Maybe they do because it's always nice to say with absolute confidence, "I'm twice as smart as the Mayor, or the Governor (or Half Governor in this case). I mean really, wouldn't the people of Wasilla and Alaska rather have someone with a real education in office? These people are the laughing stocks of the country, at least the lower 48 as some say, but then again, we can't see Russia from our front porch either. Get a grip up there.

Vote NO in NOvember to the party of NO.

Why not Levi for public office in Alaska. After all, Sarah Palin has set the
bar low enough for anybody to run for office. This family is better than
reality t.v. Forget about the Kardashians, et.ali. This Sarah in Wonderland show keeps getting curiouser and curiouser.

Actually, Massachussets Conservative, speaking out in SUPPORT of a President is a far cry from DEFENDING him. He's done NOTHING that needs to be defended.

You and your ilk,on the other hand, have the corner market on RANTS and DESPERATION. When you choose LIES over the FACTS to state your impassioned yet illogical points you've already conceded a losing battle.

    Better luck next time!
