Mark Williams defends 'Judenrat' remark, proposes American community center in Mecca

Mark Williams on Monday night defended using the term ‘Judenrat’ to describe New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Mark Williams on Monday night defended using the term ‘Judenrat’ to describe New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Washington (CNN) – Former Tea Party Express spokesperson Mark Williams on Monday night defended his latest blog posting in which he called New York City Michael Bloomberg a "Judenrat" and said that one of the journalists who wrote about it "has never read a book" and has "an appalling ignorance" of the Holocaust.

In the blog entry, Williams wrote: "Politically correct Judenrats like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and (Manhattan Borough President) Scott Stringer and domestic enemies who are supporting the mosque - with open ties to Islamic Terrorist organizations and supporting states are doing nothing more than erecting a giant middle finger to be thrust at the victims of 911."

In response to TPMMuckraker's Evan McMorris-Santoro story about the post, Williams appended his posting to say that Judenrat "is a derogatory term for the Jews who collaborated with the Nazis. Judenrats were Jews who turned in people like Anne Frank."

"Bloomberg and Stringer are exactly that, selling out not just Jews but all Civilized Mankind to the 21 Century Nazi ideology of Radical Islam as represented by Ground Zero Mosque," Williams wrote.

The American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise defines the term as "Jewish councils" that were coerced by the Nazis to perform administrative duties as the German army took control of Poland and the Soviet Union.

According to the AICE, they "were responsible for organizing the orderly deportation to the death camps, for detailing the number and occupations of the Jews in the ghettos, for distributing food and medical supplies, and for communicating the orders of the ghetto Nazi masters. The Nazis enforced these orders on the Judenrat with threats of terror, which were given credence by beatings and executions."

Neither a spokesperson for Bloomberg nor a representative from the United States Holocaust Museum were available after hours to comment.

Williams also told CNN that he wants to build a "mirror image" of the Islamic community center known as Park51 in Mecca that would be dedicated to showcasing American values. He said he "would personally commit myself to coming up with funding for such a center."

"How about we reinforce the peaceful, moderate nature that Islam claims to be and how about we have an Uncle Sam center to introduce people to the understanding of human rights," Williams told CNN exclusively.

The former Tea Party Express spokesman went even further and said he would drop his opposition to Park51 if he were allowed to build a "mutual understanding center" in the holiest Muslim city on Earth.

"I will buy into the notion that this imam [Park51 developer Faisal Rauf] is legitimate and he is sincere," Williams said. "I am as sincere and legitimate as he is. If he is willing to take that step and work toward that step [of building an American community center in Mecca], I will do everything in my power that I'm able to make good on my end of the bargain."

Williams said the center would house a copy of the United States Constitution and showcase the "ideas behind it." He described it as a shrine to limited government, individual rights, personal liberty and equality.

"We obviously have a lot to learn about Islam, but Islam has even more to learn about us," Williams said.

Williams was expelled from the Tea Party Express group last month after writing a mock letter from NAACP president Benjamin Jealous to the late President Abraham Lincoln, which he defended as satire.

"Dear Mr. Lincoln," the blog post read, "We [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People and we demand that it stop!"

Boy, Mark Williams sure is a piece of work! What is it about Iman Rauf's repeated denunciations of the 9/11 attacks that Williams doesn't get?

What is it about property rights and the First Amendment of the US Constitution that he doesn't get?

The Islamic community center proposed in NYC is NOT at Ground Zero – so calling it the "Ground Zero Mosque" is simply to fill the unthinking Fox-watchers with even more hatred and fear.

The only fascist in this scenario is Williams and his intolerant, goose-stepping followers who believe anything Fox tells them.

oh that's right. i forgot ground zero is a holy site where jesus gave birth to george washington and abraham lincoln died on the cross only to be reincarnated as JFK who then ascended to heaven in the exact same spot.

Boy, does Williams think the sun revolves around him or what?

Since when does a grown man predicate his actions based on someone else's?

What a ninny – what a spineless, sniveling jerk!

Mark Williams is clearly mentally ill. Isn't his paranoia obvious to the news media? CNN would do us all (including Mr. Williams) a huge favor if they would stop reinforcing his delusional thought processes by continuing to publish his insane comments.

Thanks for showing ALL of America the real meaning of what a "good chrizz-jun conservative" is...

I am at a huge loss for the right words here. I cannot even tell you how much anger I feel at this mans comments. He reminds me of the people that called me a Kike while growing up. Yes, they are the Republican South!

Hey, he's a white, christian male.
Clearly he's been appointed by god to rule.
How can anyone possibly dispute his apparent erudition and , well, his obvious "rightness".

What an idiotic proposition from Williams. Mecca is a holy place. It's specifically religious. Ground Zero is not. Not only that, but the proposed community center isn't at ground zero. Not only that, but countries in the middle east don't profess to allow the religious freedoms that the US guarantees.

These stupid examples are really getting old.

I give tumbs up to this one. Yes, we from the western world always bind or coerce to bind by the muslim values and cultures when we go to their countries. But when they come to the west, they still want to force their values and culture on us, in our own countries.

The same way we have to adapt to their cultures, they also have to do the same here. These guys pour acid or burn girls as young as eight years old for not wearing a scarf or dressing in western style.

Yes, we need to building a Christian center in Mecca. In some places in Africa, I witnessed the muslim guys who came into christian areas build a mosque and expell all the other faiths from these places. Islam is arrogant!

What Saudi Arabia does does not concern me, it is the US constitution that concerns me, or rather bigoted and racist people like this freak who want to destroy our constitution that concern me.

typical right-wing misparsing of history with attempt to inflame. A Judenrat wasn't an individual, and had nothing to do with "rat" in the English sense; it was a Jewish Council, a deliberative body.

This man is a racist and a hate monger. In fact that seems to be what the Tea Party is really all about. Divide and conquer. Play on people's fear and bigotry. If Fixed News tells a lie enough times, these idiots begin to think it's the truth. Right after 9/11 we were a nation united. Now the Tea Partiers have torn asunder that unity. They just cannot accept the fact that we have a duly elected president of color, and seem determined to deligitimize him in any way they can. Get over yourselves, and help the economy by spending your money in small businesses instead of on stupid, hateful signs.

he makes a good point – would islam allow such a center in the middle of mecca? while america cowers to make everyone happy, there comes a time when you can not please every one all of the time – unfortunately, this admin is trying to do just that, while at the same time, allowing what could potentially become a recruiting tool.

Wow, facism is alive and well in this guy's Tea Party. What makes America great is tolerance of different beliefs and religions, not intolerance of the same. The Tea Party itself resembles a return to pre-American roots, i.e., the absence of freedoms that England imposed upon the colonies. I’ll bet Mark Williams would be Emperor of the USA, if only our soft and tolerant laws & freedoms could only be changed to allow it. Thank God they cannot, and I’m grateful that our free speech rights allow us to hear from absurd people like him so we can learn to be better than that.

As much as it is wrong to build a mosque near Ground Zero, the funding for the mosque hasn't even begun yet so I'm not sure why everyone is saying the mosque is funded by terrorist linked groups. Please fact check before you make public statements. sheesh.
