(CNN) – First lady Michelle Obama will join former first lady Laura Bush on September 11 at the Flight 93 National Memorial outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania, according to a statement from the National Park Foundation.
Obama and Bush will be joined by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.
"Their show of support honors the lives and memories" of the 40 passengers and crew on the flight, along with "everyone we lost on September 11, and serves as a valuable reminder of how important this memorial is to preserve and share their story," said Neil Mulholland, head of the foundation.
United Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville after the passengers and crew fought back against hijackers who had seized control of the plane.
Fundraising is now under way for a memorial slated for dedication on September 11, 2011, the statement noted.

Laura will be so sincere in what she says and does at this event. She was such a gracious, classy first lady.
This is nice but I hope Michelle doesnt get turned into a stepford wife
Poor Laura Bush but I would expect nothing else from this women. She will unselfishly rise above the constant bashing of her husband by the current administration ( that statement is not in defense for our former president, I was no fan at all) and will once again remind the American public how a first lady should be classy and pround of her country. Mrs. Bush will smile as she always has and stand next to Marie pretending all is well to honor those who died. Humm seems a fate to unfair to Mrs. Bush to have to go along with all for the sake of boosting the image of the anti American Ms.Let them eat cake.
