Boehner to give speech on Iraq

(CNN) – House GOP Leader John Boehner will deliver next "major" speech on August 31 on national security issues, and Iraq will be one component of the speech, according to a Boehner aide.

The speech will be delivered at the American Legion's national convention in Milwaukee. The aide notes
Boehner was already on the schedule before the White House announced the date for President Obama's speech on Iraq.

On Iraq, the aide notes Boehner will stress that the "troops and surge should get the credit" for success in Iraq. He will note that President Obama and Vice President Biden initially opposed the surge and that "if
we followed their advice, it would have left the country in chaos."

I hope that he talks about the 4,416 soldiers killed in Iraq because he voted to support the invasion of Iraq.

    1. BUSH had no exit strategy!
    2. Take credit for over 4400 soldiers dying there for NO REASON!
    3. A "SURGE" can only come after a war is started!!! The war should not have started in the first place.
    4. The country will still be in CHAOS – watch!!! Will you take that CREDIT too??? NOPE – you will turn around and BLAME President Obama for bringing the troops home!!!

"The aide notes Boehner was already on the schedule before the White House announced the date for President Obama's speech on Iraq..."

Boehner wants to RUSH and give the first speech BEFORE the Commander in Chief???!!!!!!!! He's an ASH-hole and that is all the RepubliCAN'Ts stand for – very underhanded, conniving, cheap, shrewd – and they are showing the whole world what they stand for and I only hope the world can differentiate between them and REAL Americans. This would have NEVER been done to any other President!!!!

Come on America – PLEASE see through all of this and recognize what the Party of NO is all about!!!!

Uh, Mr. Boehner, what success? Iraq is not by any means a functional country. The best anyone in Baghdad gets is a couple hours of electricty a day. Their president is only president because of our propping him up.

And, if you should get the credit for the "success," should you not also get the credit for starting a war based on lies? Saddam was a brutal dictator, but under his rule, at least there was electricity and running water. Should you not get credit for 4,400 dead American soldiers, more than 100k dead Iraqis based on your lies about WMD?

And, are we to recognize that a 2007 surge is to bush's credit, but a 2007 recession is Obama's fault?

I sure hope the low information voters don't buy your crap. Your talking points have more lies in them than bush's war did.

John of Orange wants to talk about Iraq? I bet one of his first comments is that Iraq needs more golf courses. Mr. Boner would have a hard time in Iraq since they only have electricity a couple of hours a day, how would he ever plug in his tanning bed? Mr. Boner is the classic joke about salesmen; How do you tell if John of Orange is telling a lie? His lips are moving.

Vote NO in NOvember to the party of NO.

Don't you just love it! Boehner chooses to addess the American Legion. Betcha he doesn't stress his party also deserves the credit for the pathetic shape our country is in. This guy is disgusting!

: John Boehner: Claiming the surge was an important step in Iraq. Same guy that agreed with Bushy and Dicky re the Weapons of Mass Destruction that were in Iraq. Until, of course, we did not find any.

Count on it - the minute we pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan they will revert to tribal fighting that has gone on for hundreds of years.

The only reason Bushy and Dicky began a campaign to convert those countries into a Democracy was to save face for the White House fools. Wouldn't it be great if China invaded the USA and tried to convert us into Communism! Why should another country feel any more inclined? It is just ARROGANCE by the right wing.

obama scheduled his speech after Boehner had already scheduled his. Could it be, obama does not want the American people to watch any speech but his own? If you want more of the same lies, go ahead and watch nobama but if you watch Boehner's, who knows, some liberals might learn something besides the liberal slant of abc, pmsnbc and cbs.

    Can't stand this guy, Boner!
    He is a lying POS!
They robbed this country blind during the Bush years.
They got nothin' but NO! We need to wise up, and please please don't let them back in.
They represent the huge corporations, no the citizens.
They would say or do anything – destroy anyone – to get the power, and then once again prove themselves clueless as to what to do with it.

Where are the weapons of mass destruction?

Had we listened to President Obama, many Americans would still have their family and friends who gave their lives for weapons of mass destruction.

America would have saved over $1 trillion had we not been lied to about Iraq.

Boehner is as clueless as they come!

Speaking of "chaos" and Iraq ...

Isn't chaos what we've put that country through in the first place ...

    And TWICE at that?

The first time we blew up their infrastructure and then bailed on people we were supposed to support ...watched them get mowed down by Saddam after we urged them to rise up – because Cheney didn't want a "quagmire".

Now we've gone back to force a government .... that they never asked for .... on them .. at gunpoint ... and managed to "liberate" thousands and thousands of them .... from their limbs and heads in the process.

And since they don't appreciate this "gift" that they never asked for ... isn't "chaos" going to ensue as soon as we stop making the Iraqis act like they appreciate it?

Remember when republicans like Boehner believed the "Mission Accomplished" bs from Dubya in his flight suit?

Whether this has been a success or not wont be determined for at least another 15 years after we've left.

Boehner should hold off on patting himself on the back until then.

    Quagmire anyone?

A typical Republican response!! Let everyone not forget the Republican Administration that took us into this war in the first place.

Has Mr. Boner fried his brain in the tanning bed, who started this war in the first place? Boner needs to stay on the golf course, we don't need hypocrites like him in the house.

I'm willing to give the GOP credit for the surge as long as they take responsibility for the almost 5000 dead soldiers who all probably believed we'd be greeted as "liberators" like the former President assured us we would be.

I can't wait to hear this. Remember Mr. Boehner, President Obama said the sun rise in east and set in the west, tell him NO it doesn't, the sun rise in the north and set in the south.
