Boehner to give speech on Iraq

(CNN) – House GOP Leader John Boehner will deliver next "major" speech on August 31 on national security issues, and Iraq will be one component of the speech, according to a Boehner aide.

The speech will be delivered at the American Legion's national convention in Milwaukee. The aide notes
Boehner was already on the schedule before the White House announced the date for President Obama's speech on Iraq.

On Iraq, the aide notes Boehner will stress that the "troops and surge should get the credit" for success in Iraq. He will note that President Obama and Vice President Biden initially opposed the surge and that "if
we followed their advice, it would have left the country in chaos."

What elease will Boehner's speech say? How Cheney, Wolfowitz, Feith, Frum, Bolton and the rest of the "neo-clowns" are COMPLETE LIARS, who knew that Iraq was not responsible for 9/11, was not a major threat to the United States – and because these guys are on the extreme right, they naturally hate government (and are probably delighted that the Iraq War has helped "bankrupt" the United States).

Of course, they were also there to frighten the foolhardy and "egg on" the racists, into thinking that all Muslims and Arabs are the same (and therefore, the Iraq invasion was a good thing) – this same IMBECILE attitude has now manifested itself again in the ground zero mosque debate.

The worst threat this country has faced in generations, is from Boner and the rest of his domestic-terrorist party. They should all be executed for their countless crimes against America.

Man, does this jerk love the sound of his own voice. Does he really think that ANYONE really listens to or respects his opinions? He should be ashamed of himself for playing partisan politics with our wonderful men and women in harms way.

Once again, the GOP will claim credit for Bush's decision that led to "success" in Iraq, whatever that means, so that Obama will not get credit for getting us out of Iraq, but the GOP will not accept any responsibility for the recession, because Bush is out of office.

I heard yesterday the John Boehner was addressing the City Club of Cleveland. It was my understanding that he was going 'outline' some kind of Republican Plan for America to get back on its feet, you know jobs and economy, that kind of stuff. What I heard so far regarding the City Club speech was John Boehner call to Obama to fire Geithner and Obama's economic team. So far, nothing much else. Yesterday, I asked CNN to post the transcripts of the City Club speech. So far nothing. So now on August 31, 2010 we are supposed to hear something on Iraq. Who does John Boehner want fired concerning the Iraq War? Where are those transcripts regarding the Republican Plan for economic recovery? Where? Where? Where?

This guy is the epitome of political partisanship and needs to be voted out of office. There is no way this orange buffoon provides quality representation to his small, rural Ohio district.

Bush lead us into this War and many men and women were Killed and Billions upon Billions of dollars were spent needlessly, if the Republicans were in Power we wouldn't be seeing these troops coming home now, we would still be there and as McCain said for 100 years.....they are all for War.....yes maybe the surge did help get us to this point but it is a Democrat President that said enough is enough and is bring our troops home......Sure Boehner wants the credit to go to the GOP they don't have anything else to go on......

I wonder if he's going to say that Iraq was an illegal war, based on lies told by HIS president, that never should've been faught. that it was the distraction that left Afghanistan to go to hell, costing how many more American lives. That Obama kept his campaign promise to get our combat troops out of there and that it was accomplished with no loss of life? nah! he'll spend the whole speech praising the idiot who started this useless war and demonizing the leader who got us out. go, orangeman!
    SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR REPUBLICAN!

We all realize that anything that comes out of Boehners mouth are lies and propaganda. The republicans have done nothing these last 19 months but obstruct efforts to survive from the crisises they created.
None of them deserve any credibility, headlines or support.

As usual. A knife in the back for the President and a glorification of his own party. I'd never expect anything else from Orange-man Boehner - Mr. Hyper-Partisan.

Umm, Bush started the surge in 2007. It didn't really matter what Obama and Biden thought because they weren't in the WH at the time. Yes, they did initally believe it wasn't working (as many people did including non-political military analysts), and it took a while before it really started to work, at which point they dropped their opposition to it. Remember, it worked enough that Obama did decide to try it for Afganistan.

I think that the very thought of such a speech from this person on this subject is disgusting at best, and that the American people will remember how we got into Iraq in the first place. Perhaps Mr. Orange should leave speeches on Iraq to the Commander-in-Chief.

Why is it so important who gets the credit for "the surge?" If it had failed would they be lining up to take the blame...?

You'll be able to tell when Boehner is lying, it will be when his lips start moving.

Boehner is a traitor to America, he wants to tear up the Constitution.

This clown enlisted in the Navy during Vietnam but was discharged after 8 weeks. I guess Mr. Boehner could not get past Navy basic training yet he has the balls to speak to the vets and take credit for supporting the surge. Carefull Mr. Boehner don't go knocking the Commander and Chief in his own backyard. You sir are a war monger and I for one who is a vet would not give you the time of day. You and your corporate friends are quick to send my fellow brothers and sisters in arms off to war. Your a disgrace so stick to something that your good at like being a lush and golfing. Well, maybe not golfing.

Saddam may have been bad, but he wasn't the clear and present danger as the GOP had lead us to believe. I am glad the Obama has finally ended that senseless war.

Boehner the credit needs to go to the troops period. That fact that we were even there...well that credit can go to you and your republican administration, and the lies that got us there!
