Washington (CNN) – Embattled Democratic Senate candidate Alvin Greene was escorted from a meeting of the Oconee County Democratic Party on Saturday after police received reports that he and a companion were causing a disturbance.
Greene had been invited to attend the group's routine breakfast meeting, but was disinvited after he was indicted by a grand jury on obscenity charges. But he showed up anyway, and according Seneca Police Chief John Covington, one of his staffers became angry and engaged in an argument with meeting attendees.
According to the police report filed after the incident, Greene's companion, Dottie Sue Maggart-Feldman, argued with several members of the breakfast party, but that the altercation did not turn violent.
After police officers arrived, the owner of the restaurant told patrons that "the meeting was over" and that they "could finish their breakfast" but were required to leave when they were finished eating.
No charges were filed as a result of the incident.
As Greene and Maggart-Feldman left the building, Maggart-Feldman chatted with police officers and accused county party chairwoman Marilyn Hemingway of being "out to get her."
Greene was indicted earlier this month on one felony count of "disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity," according to the Richland County clerk of courts.
He was also indicted on a misdemeanor count of "communicating an obscene message to another person without consent."
Greene will face incumbent Sen. Jim DeMint, a Republican, in the general election.
The Oconee County Democratic Party did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Its good to add humor to politics sometimes. Greene is sample of caricature and the world needs to laugh sometimes.
I'm loving this guy, I don't know why! I am a conservative republican, but I guess I'm rooting for the underdog! Go Alvin!
This whole mess was well orchestrated by the GOP who voted en-masse to have the worst possible candidate represent the DNC. It would be justice if SC actually elected him and it might possibly teach the GOP that their dirty politics has gone on far too long. Remind me to never support any business from that sorry state until they behave!
Yeh make a big deal of this guy but the Governor stays in scandals and problems and is still the Governor of S.C. Not surprising here in America!!!

This guy is a total embarrassment to the Dem party. I won't be surprised if he wasn't paid off by a republican enter the race, that's probably how he came up with the money after filing bankruptcy. Here is a guy that came out of nowhere and not even supported by his own party, hell they didn't even know him. I wish he would just go away, geez!

The unemployed Mr. Greene somehow managed to raise the money to get himself on the South Carolina Democratic ballot. Where did he get the money................I think I small a very Republican Rat.

I'm proud to be watching the South Carolina Senate race from here in Charleston. We truly are an embarrassment to national politics.
On one side of this race we have a backwards, slow-witted criminal who if elected endangers the very foundation of our American principles, and on the other side we have Alvin Greene.
And some will go to their deathbed, insisting this is another "vast right wing conspiracy."

SC has open primaries. In a state with far more registered rethugliban than dems, he actually got more votes than DeMented, and the dems don't even know who he is. We dems had hoped that local authorities would look into his campaign finances (how did he come up with the $10k filing fee when his sole income was unemployment insurance?) after he was indicted on the obscenity charge, but considering they're all rethugliban, that ain't likely to happen as any investigation would lead right to RNC headquarters. It would be funny as heck and serve the rethugliban right if he beat DeMented, though.
Okay Im a tad bit confused here...Greene went to the party...and all went well until one of his staffers got into an arguement. OKay then why was he escorted out, it would seem that the staffer should be the one escorted out...Mmmmmm something smells like a tainted egg here (did it come from Iowa farms?)....This guy is way too mysterious for the crowds he surrounds himself with, and its seems quite obvious any event that he attends people seem a bit uneasy and start looking for reasons to smear his reputation....He is by all the rules a democratic contender...we want the real story behind the story...

We have a Grand Jury indictment against this not so intellectually astute Democratic player in South Carolina for showing an obscene picture to another adult that you can buy at any convenience store in our Nation while at the same time we have a Hooker Madame running for office in New York. This makes about as much sense as allowing Islamic Fanatics the right to worship or establish a meet the teacher station at the site of Americas worst public massacre caused by the very same Islamic Fanatics.
