Dems call Miller an 'extremist'

Democrats are moving fast to define Joe Miller as an ‘extremist.’

(CNN) – The Senate Republican primary race in Alaska still isn't over, but Democrats are moving fast to define Joe Miller - the previously unknown attorney who is on the verge of upsetting incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

In a statement Wednesday, DSCC Communications Director Eric Schultz described Miller as "an extremist who intends to transition-out Social Security, phase-out Medicare, and end unemployment benefits for all Alaskan families."

"Joe Miller seems more intent on imposing a strict social doctrine to please his out-of-state tea party backers but would leave the people of his state high and dry. Alaskans deserve a Senator who will stick up for them in the United States Senate," Schultz added.

The Anchorage Daily News reported last month that Miller has called for phasing out government Medicare and Social Security, as well as nixing the federal Department of Education.

"The only answer [to cut spending] is to return our federal government to the limits prescribed by our Constitution," Miller says on his Web site. "Federal powers not specified in the Constitution are reserved to the States by the 10th Amendment."

Miller, a graduate of West Point and Yale Law School, holds a slim lead over Murkowski with about 15,000 absentee ballots yet to be counted. Miller benefitted highly from the support of the Tea Party Express and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

If he listens to Sarah and Tod, maybe they'll be leaving the Union with the Independence Party.

BTW, all you have to do to know that my last post was correct is look at how many people the GOP has instigated to say "oh, to h-ll with it all, they're both corrupt, the government is broken and we need a third party." The GOP knows it was and is at serious risk of going down and is willing to just take the Dems with them. You see, as the minority party, they benefit by breaking th egovernment with demogoguery and obstruction and abuse of the filibuster, etc., and keeping everyone suffering. If they can charge up their base while disenfranchising and disheartening everyone else so they don't go to the polls, they stand a better chance of winning.

If you're sick and tired and blah blah blah and plan on not voting in November out of spite and cynicism and frustration and a feeling of impotence, just recognize that it might as well be a vote for the GOP. After all, they recognize it and have played you like a fiddle.

Ironic, that this Tea Party candidate wants to phase out Medicare and Society Security, when so many Tea Partiers depend on Medicare for their health insurance and Social Security for their retirement income....

The scariest and saddest thing! is that, those morons the people are electing will be the ones shaping policies in the congress or the senate. Please folks whatever happens in the East Coast, Middle of the Country or even the Pacific Coast impacts us all as a Nation. and at the end of the day you wonder why countries like Brazil, India or China are doing better than us? It's because we elected morons and we are still doing the same mistake!!. Oops whats wrong with me? I just forget one thing! damn Peter! our body, minds and soul are for sale for the highest bidder!!. NO ONE CARES NO MORE AND NO ONE CARES ANYMORE it's a man for himself/herself after all who cares even if we loss our competitive advantage? the media will still sell stories that we are still # 1 but in the reality the grindlock in Washington caused by the same morons you sent there have left the U.S vunerable than ever before!

American true-value fascists diverting reality to a more secure place.
Believing the earth is flat makes us stronger as a country.
We should follow them backward in time to regain our delusions.

The Department of Education does need to get axed. It was created by the second-worst president of all time Jimmy Carter(only Barry Obama is worse), and, coincidentally it's creation marked the beginning of the decline of education in this country.

    @Mike D –

Sorry, but you're completely wrong. Social Security is solvent until 2037 and will only start reducing benefits if no one pays into it between now and then. That clearly isn't going to happen. Furthermore, the trust fund would be solvent into perpetuity if people with incomes over $250,000 simply paid into the system like the rest of us working folk.

You need to stop listening to Republican talking points and actually do some research. Right now you're coming across as very, very sad.

If you disagree go drive in an ultra blue area, actions define us and there is no doubt what type of people most Democrats are!
    --------------------------------

Doug you sound like someone who was constantly beat up in the schoolyard by those "blue" people you keep referencing. You therefore had to be homeschooled, and poorly at that, for your own protection. The result is that you've "grown" into a paranoid, closeted, homophobe, and the keyboard and your imaginary "red" people are your only friends.

On the bright side, though, those "blue" people sure made sure that you learned your colors didn't they? lol!

The feds should confiscate all of Alaska's oil, and then we'll see how self-sufficient Alaskans are.

    "Leave education to the states."

Translation: allow the states, who can't even run appropriate education systems WITH THE FEDERAL MONEY THEY RECEIVE FOR THAT PURPOSE, to misinform the children from that state in order to serve the interests of the majority party in that state.

I don't care whether it's red or blue or purple. We just witnessed TX's board of education trying to rid people of th enotion that Thomas Jefferson believed in a separation of church and state...or that he was all that important in the first place...among other nonsensical attempts at skewing history to indoctrinate the children into growing up conservative. Ask yourselves, conservatives, do you want NY and CA and other blue states with far larger populations than your red states to be assuring that all their children turn out liberal? You might think that's the case already, but it is clearly not because those states have plenty of people who still grow up to be conservatives. I can assure you we can change that...be careful what you wish for.

Most Republican politicians are radical extremists whose views are closer to those of the Taliban or Iran's Ahmedinayed than to those of freedom- and democracy-loving Americans.

    Terry from West Texas.
Thank you for giving me hope that not all from Texas are smooth brains.

All these right wing morons on this and all other blogs/threads are capable of doing is repeating Fox/Limpball talking points that contain no fact or truth, just conjecture and false rumors that are easily debunked.
My teenage kids could dismantle your nonsense just from their watching the direct quotes on the Daily Show (Jon Stewart) and any local news channel.
The only ones who believe your silly rantings are the weak minded who watch Fox media or listen to hate radio. Fresh gruel from the rusty spoon of ignorrance.
We do you assume we are as dumb as you are?
